Everything was impeccable: the ingredients were exceptionally fresh, the dishes were prepared with such love and care that you could feel it from the first bite. The dining room itself is a delight in itself. It's like a mini-museum: paintings, unique handmade interior lamps, works of art—every detail has been thought through. The atmosphere is warm, sincere, homey, and yet surprisingly elegant. The cleanliness is impeccable. Even the smallest details—for example, the toilet paper in the restroom is separated by color: pink for the women's, green for the men's. These touches demonstrate how much the owners love their business and how attentive they are to each guest. 💖 This place is not just a restaurant, but a true space of love for food and people. You want to come back again and again.

21/09/2025: Went here two nights in a row, and I am truly impressed. The pasta is made fresh right on the spot, and the ingredients are bursting with quality - each meal prepared with incredible care and a desire for perfection. The service is genuinely kind and truly helpful, making the experience even more special. One of the things I loved most is the diverse menu - seafood, meat, and vegetarian options - ensuring everyone can find something they love. I honestly wish I could give this place six stars instead of five; it’s absolutely remarkable and has truly left a lasting impression on me!

18/10/2025: Beautiful hotel, great view and location! Helpful porters to get your bags and bring them back to dock. Room furnishings a little dated but very clean. Air conditioning also worked really well and room came equipped with a steamer which was really helpful as most hotels don’t have irons for you to use.

17/10/2025: Absolutely wonderful stay. The hotel is slightly off the beaten path, which was a pleasant atmosphere! Away from the main city it gave a sense of paradise and serenity. We had the garden view room and were not disappointed. Beds were comfy and clean, room was spacious, bathroom was clean, and the balcony was a delightful added bonus for us. Service was great as well. Room service was respectful and prompt. Making quick work go clean the room. The restaurant was absolutely fantastic! One of our favorite meals in our 10day honeymoon in Italy. The gnachetti with braised lamb and the slow-cooked pork shoulder were absolutely delicious!

09/10/2025: We tried gnocchi with pesto and ravioli with lemon and riccota. The gnocchi were amazing, however the ravioli had a very strong lemon flavour, which we didn't like too much, but it may appeal to some. The customer service was pretty good, all the staff were nice and friendly. We visited in August and had to wait 30 minutes for a table since it was quite busy at that time. The prices range in about 20-30€ per dish. Athmosphere was nice and cozy.

27/08/2025: We stayed in this wonderful hotel the week after Ferragosto... What can I say? Everything was perfect!! Starting with the owners, who are disarmingly kind, and the same can be said of all the staff, who are efficient and beyond courteous. The rooms are comfortable and super clean, and the restaurant/pizzeria stands out for its excellent value. We highly recommend it!

03/09/2025: L’Altana has a special place in my heart and my stomach having first visited well over a decade ago and making sure it’s frequently visited on every trip to Barga. In my opinion there are 2-3 amazing places to eat in Barga and L’Altana wins…it’s unassuming, understated and almost invisible as you walk through the old town…but don’t be fooled. Inside this modest restaurant (some choose to sit outside) is a family lounge, a space you would visit with best friends and a place you could visit with loved ones - whilst being equally welcome on your own! The menu is simple but underpinned by the common principles of fresh, local and amazing! Must have eaten here 30+ times and not once have I been disappointed- not once! The staff will say no, they may turn you away on sight of an empty table but this ensure they deliver perfection time and time again- so do t assume you know better as they have been running this masterpiece for ages and doing so brilliantly! Best to book ahead to make sure you are not disappointed!

18/10/2025: A popular local restaurant specializing in both lake and sea fish. Meat options are plentiful. The menu is a good size without being overly limited. The lake fish specialties, which are locally sourced and of excellent quality, are highly recommended. I recommend the fettuccine with whitefish. The prices are more than fair; considering the big city, you won't be disappointed. Highly recommended.

13/08/2025: The pizzas are original and excellent. I chose a pizza with a mozzarella base and mint zucchini cream, with yellow tomatoes and "pasta di salame" (it looked like mini minced meatballs, it was very good). The pizza is very large, well garnished, the dough is thin and airy, it's really great. My allergic friend had a gluten-free pizza and she also enjoyed it, without having the slightest stomach ache, which indicates that they take great care in the kitchen to ensure that the gluten-free pizzas remain so. In addition, her dough was airy and puffy, amazing for a gluten-free pizza. For dessert we had artisanal sorbets which were also delicious, and we drank raspberry spritzes which were also great. The servers were friendly and the veranda pleasant (be careful though, we regretted not having mosquito spray). Excellent value for money.

13/08/2025: Great restaurant for gluten-free dining in Pavia. The gluten-free pizza crust is excellent, and the selection of toppings is wide and varies with the seasons (I had a mozzarella/zucchini flower/ricotta pizza, unusual but delicious!). Note that only the crust is gluten-free; I think you have to check the toppings on a case-by-case basis. I don't know if they have a separate oven, but I think they're careful. I'm very allergic to gluten and haven't had any reactions, even though I often get stomach aches in pizzerias that aren't 100% gluten-free in France. There are also a few gluten-free desserts. The peach ice cream is incredible, and the lemon and basil one is also very good. I also had a very good raspberry spritz. Don't forget your mosquito repellent if you choose to sit on the terrace in the summer (the inside seemed a bit noisy).
