The walls are covered in classic movie posters, giving the place a personality that’s as warm as the food. The pizza is the real deal: perfectly blistered crust, fresh toppings, no frills, no fuss. The kind of meal that reminds you why Italian food doesn’t need to be complicated to be great. The risotto is also worth ordering, and don’t sleep on the starter bread. It puts most other restaurants in the city to shame. Service is warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The location is pleasant, perfect for making you feel immediately at ease. An experience worth having: I'll definitely be back!

11/08/2025: Siamo stati a cene nella serata della paella. Purtroppo abbiamo mangiato male. Il riso sembrava cotto 2 volte ed il pesce purtroppo non sembrava fresco e non era cucinato bene. Gli scampi ed i gamberi non si sgusciavano e le cozze erano dure. Peccato, puo' capitare,ma vedersi arrivare poi un conto di 103 € per 3 paelle,mezzo litro di acqua,una birra piccola ed uno spritz mi sembra esagerato. Il servizio sufficiente pur non essendoci praticamente nessun altro, volevamo il dessert,ma siamo andati via perche' stanchi di aspettare che ritornasse qualcuno al tavolo.

24/05/2026: I have to be honest, as soon as I saw the entrance, I wanted to leave. Then, walking into the dining room on the first floor, I found myself in a homey room, simply furnished, so much so that you'd feel at home with your aunt or grandmother. The lady handled the orders with professionalism and courtesy, explaining each dish. Everything was delicious, from the cured meat and fried vegetable appetizers to the spicy first course, and the wild boar main course, which was very special and delicious. Truly excellent.

20/01/2026: The driest and most disgusting food we've ever eaten in a restaurant. We ordered the kids' menu, a kids' burger with no vegetables, only a dry, half-raw patty and bun, so the kids couldn't eat it. We also ordered a Caesar salad, a dry, very tasteless salad, and a seafood platter with very sour ingredients. We were disappointed. The whole thing came to about 90 euros! If you order anything, it's the pizza, which was surprisingly tasty compared to the other dishes!

31/12/2025: It wasn't very busy on a weekday at the end of September around 5 pm. Friendly service, nice atmosphere, and delicious food. We can recommend this restaurant.

31/03/2026: Disappointing. The spaghetti was too hard, the accompanying clams small and still in their shells. A huge hassle to pick at them. The seafood platter was poor. Small portion, presented without care. The asparagus was overcooked and looked like it had been run over by a truck multiple times.

22/05/2026: Great little trattoria. Very funny owner. The cuttlefish pasta with shelled prawns was in a fantastic tomato sauce. Excellent! The spaghetti with prawns and zucchini was also good, maybe add your own pepper. Overall great, especially since it was inexpensive.

12/07/2026: The staff were very friendly, spoke English, and were very helpful. We tried traditional Venetian dishes and they were delicious: octopus salad and seppie in nero con polenta.

20/06/2026: We stopped in after spending a few hours wandering around the Biennale Arte in Castello. It's a great place to relax in the shade, and they serve a good Aperol Spritz!

06/08/2026: I'm amazed at the overall rating. If I had looked on Google first, I would never have discovered this restaurant. How lucky I am to sometimes choose in the real world. Excellent food, nice service, pleasant atmosphere. I had ordinary spaghetti carbonara, but I got a taste concert. I have to smile in front of the chef. I will definitely come back to taste my beloved tiramisu.

14/04/2026: Ombra del Leone is a lovely restaurant located right on the Grand Canal, so yes, it's on the pricier side, but absolutely worth every euro. The setting is what truly sets it apart: far from the tourist crowds, you can enjoy a peaceful meal with breathtaking canal views. We actually visited on a rainy night, so dining outside wasn't an option, but even without sitting al fresco, everything was absolutely perfect. Inside, the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the service never missed a beat. Everything we ordered tasted amazing. The menu offers plenty of seafood dishes to choose from. We tried the spaghetti with sea urchins, the lemon swordfish bites with potatoe cream and the veal milanese, everything cooked to perfection. The staff was attentive without being intrusive, making sure we had everything we needed. If you're looking for a memorable dining experience in Venice away from the chaos, Ombra del Leone is a must visit rain or shine. Highly recommended!
