27/09/2025: If I could give this restaurant 0 stars I would! We visited Trattoria Da Vasco on Monday 22 Sept 25, for dinner, based on a recommendation. Whilst my spaghetti carbonara was OK (not great), the spinach and ricotta ravioli my partner ordered was inedible. It arrived floating in a bowl of what appeared to be pasta water, with no sauce and tasted horrible. We sent it back and asked very nicely if we could please order something else as my partner had only had a mouthful. He tried the spaghetti Bolognese but again, it was terrible. The pasta had not been drained properly and again there was water at the bottom of the bowel. The sauce was barely discernible and the most prominent taste was dish washing liquid. Again, my partner could not eat this and had barely a mouthful. Now very hungry we decided to pay for what we could eat and drink. I went inside to explain this and pay. The manager /owner immediately started shouting at me aggressively in Italian, which unfortunately I do not speak. He was extremely intimidating and stood very close to me. He would not let the waitress translate for me, even though her English was good enough. He immediately threatened to call the police and would not stop shouting for one moment. I ended up in tears in the restaurant. At this point my partner who was sitting outside heard the noise and stepped in to protect me, just in time for the police to arrive. The police had to physically hold the manager back, still shouting at us both. I paid the bill (and entirely unwarranted €44!) just to get out of there. It was an awful meal and a worse experience. I suggest avoiding this 'restaurant' at all costs. The police were lovely and listened patiently to what happened. Of course they agreed with us as customers and had a stern talking to the manager/owner. I have travelled extensively, and been to Italy many times, and have never been treated so badly.

26/09/2025: A family-run trattoria, when you enter Vasco, you feel like part of the family. Typical Lucca dishes, truly well-made and generous portions. This is our second time here, and we'll continue to do so. I highly recommend this place.

30/10/2025: The welcome is warm and the place is pleasant. The five for food is well-deserved, especially for the tortelli lucchesi. The rating for the always-punctual service deserves credit to Francesco. Thanks to him, I discovered the limoncello spritz, which is masterfully executed. His coffee is also excellent.

16/08/2025: The historic establishment is now run by Chinese people. We drank the schekerato coffee there, not bad but nothing special. The counter was rather messy, with dirty glasses, etc. For two: €6.

19/10/2025: Bees everywhere... and they eat the food!!! One was eating mortadella from a sandwich on display and I was right there!!! Cold, low-quality food. Never again. If it were called a "Bee Bar," it would still disgust the bees.

30/09/2025: Very friendly, and the food was amazing again. We've eaten here a few times now, and it's always great for €16 per person for two courses.

15/11/2025: I ordered a Spritz and was asked if it had Aperol. I drank it... there was absolutely no Aperol. When paying, I asked if there was actually Aperol. They replied "yes," without further ado. Behind the bar, there wasn't even a bottle of Aperol, just "Aperitivo Margherita." I'm not saying it's not okay to use other products, but at least be honest with the customers who pay you!! If you don't have Aperol, don't offer it when ordering!

09/11/2025: Beautiful place. I especially appreciated the kindness and helpfulness of the staff, even though the place was really busy. A very relaxing breakfast on a sunny day, and very good pastries. Recommended.

04/08/2025: Metti una splendida serata d’estate …un luogo incantato e cibo buonissimo ,sul fiume 📍𝐎𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐚 ,via di Candalla 264 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐞 ..un ristorante tradizionale ma con una marcia in più ,ad attenderci al nostro arrivo un bar sul fiume con cocktail interessanti con un’aria equatoriale ,caraibica molto rilassante Dopodiché uno splendido tavolo al fresco bordo ruscello , per proseguire con la nostra cena di gusto Anche all’interno il locale è molto carino sobrio e raffinato .Menu di terra con prodotti di qualità . Per prenotare basta chiamare la mattina alle 9 del mese precedente in cui si desidera andare ,io non ho trovato nessuna difficoltà. Il servizio é attento e cortese

04/08/2025: Ho prenotato in questa Osteria per il 5 Agosto, venendo da lontano, (più di una ora di autostrada) e dovendo percorrere l'autostrada della Cisa, causa lavori e maltempo, ho dovuto allungare l'orario di arrivo alle 13:30. Giunta però con 35 minuti di anticipo, mi accorgo che impossibile parcheggiare, i pochi posti disponibili, su per una strada in salita stretta e circondata da cartelli di rimozione, sono tutti occupati e le persone continuano ad arrivare. Ho tentato di cercare parcheggio, ma non c'è stata possibilità, nemmeno allontanandomi di parecchia strada, in quanto trattasi di strada di montagna stretta che rasenta la pericolosità. Alla fine a malincuore sono costretta ad andarmene con l'amaro in bocca e una buona dose di nervosismo per una gestione così poco attenta ai clienti e menefreghista. Ho sprecato così carburante, tempo, un viaggio lungo ed energia. Mi chiedo... un luogo che fa così tanti coperti, può permettersi di avere una disponibilità di parcheggio così indirettamente proporzionale e non fare nulla a riguardo? E' giusto che un cliente non venga avvisato di questo disagio appurato e debba addirittura doversene andare? Non sarebbe corretto dirlo oppure offrire un servizio navetta, oppure ampliare l'area di parcheggio chiedendo permessi al comune oppure, semplicemente fare meno coperti? Invece no, schiavi del guadagno, senza rispetto. Il cibo sarà sicuramente buono come descritto, ma il servizio e la cortesia sono parti a zero.

16/06/2025: I stopped for a quick takeaway lunch break despite the time there wasn't much I took some kind of eggplant meatballs that as soon as I tasted them I threw them away crumbs and soaked in oil... maybe it was the wrong day

15/09/2025: We had pizza 4 times at this pizzeria: twice the pizza was excellent, the other two, well... good pizza at times?

08/09/2025: This was a bad pizzeria. After waiting a long time to be served, the waiter startede to take our order - before she suddenly said that they were out of pizza - in a pizzeria!! Bad service, dont go there!

06/09/2025: We were very disappointed with this restaurant. We had made a reservation, clearly specifying that we would only have an hour to eat, as we had to return to work. Despite this, upon our arrival, we were made to wait a long time and were not served immediately, wasting our precious time. When it came time to pay, the owner even claimed that we had booked late (which wasn't true) and that it had been difficult to find a seat, as if he were doing us a favor, when in reality we were treated with little attention and truly poor service. Customer Respect: 0 A negative experience that we wouldn't recommend.

27/08/2025: I went to this restaurant in early August. It was a truly pleasant experience! The waiters were incredibly kind and helpful. I had a raw tuna appetizer with a truly excellent mango sauce, and a seafood risotto that I've rarely found so good in restaurants. I'll be back!

20/10/2025: Terrible lunch. There were two of us; we ordered a super clam (x2) and a mixed fried fish. More than 40 minutes after ordering, the spaghetti arrived. Most likely, the pasta water hadn't been salted, and the clams were 100% defrosted. Next came the mixed fried fish... among the worst I've ever eaten. It was soaked in oil.

19/10/2025: Two hours to eat a first course... pasta allo scogio full of sand and we found a piece of plastic inside... terrible service for sure the first and last time

20/11/2025: The food is acceptable and the service is genuinely excellent – the staff are warm and attentive. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The atmosphere in the restaurant feels heavy and greasy; the entire place is saturated with the smell and taste of oil. Even after leaving, you can still feel the weight in your stomach and the lingering taste of frying oil in your mouth. It’s clear that the kitchen has serious issues with oil management and ventilation. For a restaurant of this caliber, it’s a huge disappointment. They really need to invest serious effort into fixing these problems
