06/06/2026: I went for a business lunch and wasn't very impressed. The service was a bit slow. The tordelli were good and homemade, and the ragù was very simple. The fried chicken wasn't good; it was basically tossed in oil without any batter or flouring. The price is good, €15 for the full menu, but I'm sorry, I won't be back. It's a shame they could do much better if they reworked the food a bit.

26/06/2026: We were decidedly disappointed with this restaurant. The overall quality of the dishes was poor. The macaroni was completely overcooked and served with a flavorless ragù, while both the cutlet and the steak didn't live up to expectations. Even the French fries arrived completely bland; we only ate the meal because we were so hungry.
Another sore point concerns the restrooms, as there is a shared bathroom for men and women and it could use a major renovation. The only positive aspect of the day was the wait staff, who were friendly and quick, but that's not enough to justify returning.
02/06/2026: We're a big fan of Rome, and we came to this restaurant for lunch on a weekday in late May, trusting previous reviews.
The restaurant, which is also a bar, is located right in the city center, under the porticoes.
We ate outside and were warmly welcomed by the charming, friendly, and helpful owner.
The lunch menu featured simple dishes, for a quick and informal meal, but despite that, everything was very good and served quickly. The wine by the glass was also good, the quality/price ratio was exceptional, and the entire staff was truly friendly and helpful.
If we're ever in the area again in the future, we'll definitely be back to say hello and enjoy your dishes, perhaps this time for dinner.

26/04/2026: We stayed here as a group for a course. The lady welcomed us very warmly and was incredibly kind, and that continued throughout our entire seven-day stay.
Really good food and generous portions.
Some details could be improved, including the occasional dirty plate or glass.
The rooms are old and could be improved. Only some of our beds had slats, while others had old bases. The rooms were very damp, and the showers were a bit dated. The room was cleaned and made up every day. Overall, they're okay.

12/06/2026: Just been for lunch. We had been for an evening dinner last week and it was fine. Nice but ok. Today we went for lunch. The starters are about €10 and the mains €22. The portions are quite small and the food was only luke warm. It tasted nice but it's expensive for what you get. In the evening you get a bread bag but no oil or butter so it's quite dry to eat. Maybe your supposed to eat it with your main meal but then why serve it so early? Also the portions are so small there's not much sauce to soak up the bread with. No bread provided today at lunch time. Service is ok but like most Italian towns and villages there's no rush. I wish we had ordered 2 starters instead of a starter and a main. Same amount of food but cheaper.

18/11/2024: Stanchi della gentilezza di facciata del commerciante medio? Della cucina casalinga e "tradizionale" intrisa di olio? Del conto salato a fronte di un' esperienza deludente? Di una scelta enologica imbarazzante? Allora il vostro posto è questo. Non vediamo l'ora di tornarci!
01/11/2024: Non è un ristorante stellato ma molto di più : è una trattoria piccola ma carina, pulita e ben organizzata con una calda atmosfera accogliente. Ci trovi famigliole con bambini educati e non invadenti. L'accoglienza è cordiale, come da amici, il menu è limitato a poche scelte ma i piatti sono gustosi e veraci, e la qualità è nettamente superiore alla quantità. Il servizio è veloce. Prezzi ragionevoli. Torneremo. Vincenzo e Cecilia.

La Lanterna

23/05/2025: Sono stato a pranzo in famiglia presso l’Hotel Ristorante La Lanterna di Castelnuovo Garfagnana, dopo una visita guidata alla Fortezza delle Verrucole.
Il ristorante è molto curato sia all’esterno che all’interno e dispone di due grandi sale arredate in stile classico/elegante. Sarà per il periodo, non ancora in stagione funghi, che dalle recensioni ho letto vengono cucinati in tutte le salse, ma il menù che ci è stato presentato sia di terra che di mare non era molto variegato e non presentava nessun piatto del giorno.
Noi abbiamo preso tre antipasti di terra (classicissimi), una pappardella al cinghiale, una tagliata alle erbe aromatiche, un filetto di maiale, un salmone ed un contorno di patate arrosto.
Tutto gustoso, ma da un ristorante in Garfagnana mi sarei aspettato innanzitutto delle portate più generose ma anche qualche secondo piatto di carne che non sia la solita bistecca o tagliata.
Detto ciò, personale di sala attento e professionale. Ottima la cantina dei vini e sangiovese cabernet sauvignon della casa eccellente.
Il conto finale (35 a testa) per la semplicità dei piatti offerti, a mio avviso un po' alto.
Ci tornerò ma in piena stagione funghi.

05/11/2024: Atencion y servicio esmerado, no prentediamos una gran comida, optamos por un platon de quesos y fiambre de muy buena calidad, buen pan y unas botellas de vino de la casa, embotelladas en especial para el lugar a un precio verdaderamente bajo y de una muy alta calidad.
