30/10/2025: Truly Exceptional – Warm People, Beautiful Setting, and the Best Lasagna I’ve Ever Had We had an absolutely wonderful meal at Ristorante Etruria in Volterra. From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us with genuine warmth and kindness. They immediately brought out a bowl of water for our French bulldog, Luigi, and treated him as if he were their own. It set the tone for what turned out to be one of the most memorable dining experiences we’ve had in Italy. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful inside – classic Tuscan charm with elegant stone arches, warm lighting, and tasteful décor that feels both refined and welcoming. You can tell it’s a place that takes pride in its history and hospitality. I ordered the lasagna, and it was simply perfect — rich, delicate layers, full of flavor, and perfectly balanced. Honestly, it was as good as the best I’ve ever had anywhere in my life. My wife had the tagliatelle al ragù, and it was every bit a 10 out of 10 — silky fresh pasta, a sauce bursting with depth and authenticity. The service was exceptional throughout — attentive without being intrusive, and filled with genuine smiles. What made it even more special was that the owner personally followed us out as we were leaving to thank us after we told him how much we loved the meal. That kind of heartfelt appreciation is rare and unforgettable. Everything — from the food and wine to the atmosphere and hospitality — was pure Tuscany at its finest. If you find yourself in Volterra, do yourself a favor and make this your meal stop. You’ll leave full, happy, and feeling like family.

15/08/2025: We had the Frittura alla Marina di Grassina (squid, shrimp, and vegetables in tempura batter) and it was delicious! We've been thinking about it all week. You sit outside in a cozy little garden that's accessible from inside; you'd never expect that from the outside. The service is excellent and the food fantastic. Unfortunately, we had to leave quickly, but I'll definitely be back!

08/08/2025: We had a super fresh tuna tartare to start, followed by two pastas: the lemon cream shrimp tagliatelle was outstanding, while the tomato spaghetti was a bit too oily but still tasty. The tomatoes in all dishes were excellent. Dessert was a tiramisu served in a cute plant pot—great presentation and deliciously fluffy. Only downside: the portions were quite large, making it hard to finish everything. A smaller main option would be great. Also, the table bread was hard and a bit watery. We will remeber this place and in the future if we are near we won't hesitste to stop by.

30/06/2025: What can I say? A corner of paradise, my partner and I arrived at the end of the stage on the Via Vandelli in this wonderful place. Welcomed with a smile, a cold beer and after a shower a dip in the pool. And what can I say about the dinner? One of the best of the walk👍

02/11/2025: I stayed at the Porta Franca refuge for lunch and dinner, staying in a shared room! What can I say? A wonderful experience, made even more so by the generous and kind welcome we received from the CAI volunteers! They were attentive and thoughtful, and I must say, very friendly! Honorable mention goes to Mrs. Cinzia and the other chef (forgive me, I don't remember her name) who delighted us with delicious dishes! Thanks also to our contact Alessandro, especially for the strudel he gave me for the return trip! Thank you so much!

01/09/2025: A wide selection of pizzas at more than reasonable prices! And the homemade millefeuille is exquisite! Nothing to say about the welcome and service... one small drawback: the Italians always speak very loudly, especially the Tuscans (but the accent is very pleasant). Luckily, it's quieter when they're eating!
