25/07/2024: Very expensive price! AperolSprizz €8 (for tourists)! ONLY with chips! We're talking about Malfa, not Taormina with service! In my opinion it won't work like this for the Islands in the next few years!

19/08/2024: We went to this pizzeria on holiday in August 2024. Appetizers with bruschetta, and normal chips and frankfurters, and also the various pizzas offered, all good. And the managers were also friendly and kind.

18/08/2024: We went last night with friends for the first time. We ordered some meat aperitifs, the place was full and we waited a few more minutes... but since it's Saturday we can do it. Really high quality meat openers! Messina chops and sausage are mouth-watering, tender meat, accompanied by a side dish of french fries and pan pizza. Pistachio and mortadella pizza, my favorite! well-leavened, light dough and high quality mortadella and pistachio. To finish we had some very good fruit cocktails. Super friendly waiters and always with a smile. The owner is very kind and tries to please the children in every way. We had fun with karaoke and entertainment.

25/07/2024: Abbiamo trascorso una piacevolissima serata alla conchiglia. Il titolare Stefano e la figlia Luna sono stati pazienti e molto molto garbati nel consigliarci i piatti cucinati e preparati con gran cura dallo chef Gennaro. Cucina sublime. Primi buonissimi e originali e una stupenda tartare di ricciola su base di pesche con fragole e mirtilli come guarnizione. Consigliatissimo

23/07/2024: Qualità del cibo molto buona , personale cortese piatti anche originali tono stupendo si può scegliere se stare fuori ma con vista traghetto o dentro con aria condizionata, consigliatissimo

31/08/2024: Hanno fatto una miriade errori nelle ordinazioni. Tra le altre cose abbiamo ordinato 2 spaghetti mediterranea (frutti di mare). Hanno portato 3 spaghetti alle vongole. Quando lo abbiamo fatto notare il titolare (Gaetano) ci ha risposto che il sabato con 250 (?) coperti è normale qualche errore. Dopo 5 minuti ci hanno portato gli stessi spaghetti, scotti, con aggiunta di pomodori crudi e tante vongole. Una vera vergogna. Tranne che per la compagnia serata da dimenticare.

30/08/2024: Perfetto posto per godersi una bella cena. Pasquale ci a fatto trascorrere una sera tranquila e molto accogliente. La cena, top e il gelato alla canella indimenticabile. Grazie di tutto. CI torneremo!

01/09/2024: Terrible pizzeria service, more than 1 hour and 15 minutes waiting, I go the next day (Sunday morning) for breakfast, they don't have any pistachio granita or cream. among other things, if you don't call them before serving you, the waiters make you wait 30 minutes.

30/08/2024: Table service without the slightest experience! Wrong drink. Wrong ice cream flavors and sizes. However, the “Argentine” waiter was very friendly! I even felt sorry for him! And the JAZZ night, there was NOTHING about jazz!!!

25/08/2024: Una cena con il calore di casa di fronte ad un tramonto mozzafiato. Siamo stati a cena nella seconda metà di agosto e ci siamo recati per poter vedere il tramonto sulle Eolie. Abbiamo ricevuto un caloroso benvenuto e abbiamo cenato con tipicità squisite. Se siete a Lipari non potete non recarvi qui dove potete trovare cena con calore di casa è una location pazzesca. Servizio ottimo davvero gentili!!

01/08/2024: After several holidays in Taormina, we returned again this year. One of the highlights of our visit was discovering this beautiful wine bar, just few steps down from Corso Umberto. Talk about ‘far from the madding crowd’, this little haven does ‘aperitivo’ on another level. Always warmly greeted, quickly seated and promptly attended, the staff were fantastic, all of them. Great music, great nibbles and awesome drinks (mainly Aperol Spritz and Bloody Mary). You really made a most pleasant difference to our stay this time, and rest assured, we will definitely be back….thank you!

17/08/2024: I visited this restaurant in 2006 and I have to say the standard here has dropped since then, possibly through change of ownership? We ordered our food and drinks, expecting as per any restaurant in Sicily, to have the drinks arrive (maybe with some bread) followed by the food. The food arrived 1st with x2 meals missing. We had to ask 3 times where our drinks were, to the point that the children were crying for water and we'd almost finished the food that had arrived, eventually going up to the fridge to take the water ourselves. The staff stopped us from doing this and then the beer and wine came with the water, although it was far too late for us to enjoy this with 4 of 6 having eaten already. We also had to ask a number of times for the rest of the food, which arrived later and over-cooked to the point that we asked for boxes to put it in, so the children could escape and calm down. It's a shame as this was once a great restaurant, however the service and the food was nowhere near the standard I recall from before.

03/09/2024: Tourist trap with nice outdoor seating. Pasta sauce definitely tasted like it was from store bought bottles (which I thought would be illegal in Italian restaurants in Sicily). Complete waste of money. Service was good though, which is understandable given the above.

22/08/2024: Wonderful cozy place! Lasagna, caponata, drinks, service - above all praise. Very tasty. Thanks to the cook and waiters. I recommend trying these dishes. Prices are reasonable compared to other establishments in Taormina.

09/11/2023: Questa recensione è per chi cerca lavoro, se stai pensando di lasciare il tuo curriculum in questo posto o ti offrono un lavoro qui NON FARLO! Ho lavorato qui per 5 mesi e posso dire che è stato uno dei lavori peggiori che abbia mai fatto. 26€ al giorno (che sono aumentati a 30€ dopo aver fatto storie quando ho detto a loro che era troppo poco) per fare DOPPI TURNI, a volte più lunghi a volte più brevi. In questo posto facevo TUTTO, pulizie, cameriere, lavapiatti e aiuto cuoco. Sì, tutto per soli 30€ al giorno. È importante dire che gli abusi verbali non sono mancati. Ma ovviamente per loro tutto è giustificato perché mi riportavano a casa dopo ogni turno... Adesso il mio consiglio per chi va a mangiare: in questo posto non c'è nessuna igiene, in cucina NESSUNO PORTA LA CUFFIA e NON SI LAVANO MAI LE MANI (tranne la signora María che è una brava persona), anche ho visto TOPI sul balcone. Voglio anche dire che il personale di questo posto PARLA MALE di quasi tutti i clienti. Se sei vegetariano non avrai tante opzioni. Se state cercando dove mangiare, o dove lavorare, c'è un bar molto vicino a questo posto, il mio consiglio è di non mettere mai un piedi all'Osteria Da Italiano.

03/08/2024: EDIT: The restaurant owner decided to reply in a hostile and condescending manner to what intended to be a fair review. Just to be clear: our problem with the rations was not the “size” in itself, but the value for money. The problem was not that the dishes were expensive and small (contemporary restaurants have dishes that are like that but are great); the problem is that, on top of expensive and small, they were also dull. I tried to put it gently in my original review, but seen the condescending tone of the reply I decided to put it in more clear terms. I find it extremely audacious to say that “we should go for a more familiar place”, as we have indeed visited them through the trip, but also different categories of restaurants —bib gourmands, starred and other Michelin restaurants—. Believe me, it is not a matter of range (all categories of restaurant, from familiar to high cuisine, can be fabulous). But it is preposterous to charge Michelin-star-prices for a plate that, simply, does not live to that standard. Lastly, the quality of the service is self-portrayed in their reply to the review. Not great. I hope that next time you can handle criticism in a less condescending way. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I am sorry to give it 3/5. The atmosphere was perfect—a lovely medieval patio isolated from the noise of the center—but I am afraid a 3/5 is the best I can do. The pasta was delicious, but the other plates were unimpressive. The rations were small, not particularly original or tasty, and the service was relative slow. In short, I really wanted this place to work, but I left back to my hotel absolutely disappointed.

07/07/2024: È stato un piacere cenare nella pizzeria Optimus! Dal momento in cui si entra, si è accolti da un'atmosfera calda e familiare, con personale gentile e sempre disponibile. I tempi di attesa sono stati brevi. Ho avuto modo di assaggiare, oltre alla pizza, anche i loro dolci: deliziosi! Consiglio vivamente la pizzeria Optimus, locale in cui sicuramente ritornerò.
