14/01/2026: Discovered recently and has become a go-to place for aperitivo with a group or just with my husband! Friendly staff, I wonder who the lady in the negative review is talking about... I think she's completely wrong... the bar lady is super nice! Top aperitivo, both for quality (the pizza is delicious), quantity, and especially the price!! So, full 5 stars!!

10/11/2025: Family-run place. I often go there for breakfast and know that from 12:00 to 2:30 they offer a fixed-price meal service with a talented Italian staff. I often go there with friends and family. It's also a great place for small snacks. The people are nice, and I've never encountered any thugs. Also suitable for families with children. 20/10/2025: A quiet location surrounded by greenery, with space for vans or tents at the back of the property. The view of Lake Maggiore is good, and the location is excellent for exploring the area. The porch is lovely, while the interior is very homey. We appreciated the fireplace during dinner, but not so much the prices of the dishes, which in my opinion are out of line (linguine with meat sauce was €17-18). Breakfast was good and plentiful, with croissants and homemade tarts. The rooms are dated and lacking maintenance, with unusable electrical outlets, extension cords, and power strips everywhere. The electric shutters didn't work, only the curtains. The beds were box springs, not double beds, and there were no sheets (just a duvet). One shower didn't have a cover. Worst of all, the heating was off when we arrived, and the hot water was only lukewarm. I tried, but it wasn't possible to take a shower. The owner installed electric burners to make up for this.

05/10/2025: For October, we grabbed a table in the sun, and it felt like we were on vacation, outside of Lombardy but in a tiny place by the sea. The idiosyncrasy also manifests itself in the atmosphere: upon entering, it feels like being in a beer garden, and it's truly hilarious to see how longtime aficionados are there. Very distinctive. It doesn't go unnoticed.

21/09/2025: Aside from the dirty tables and various messes... We waited for even half an hour to be served... The place was half empty. Of course we left, they didn't even say hello.

07/11/2025: This evening I ordered five pizzas for delivery between 7 and 7:30 PM. The pizza arrived at 7:50 PM, cold, and it wasn't the first time. Unfortunately, the quality isn't what it used to be. Last week, I ordered a large pizza with very little mozzarella and it arrived completely tasteless and without toppings. Never again.

27/04/2025: Today, April 27, 2025, I found the restaurant permanently closed. The restaurant's name was also covered up on the outside. What happened?

28/12/2025: Unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. I ate at this restaurant today for lunch and already felt sick in the afternoon. Now it's evening and I'm still feeling nauseous and vomiting. I don't know if it was the food being stale or poor hygiene, but one thing is certain: I'm really sick after this meal. It's unacceptable for a restaurant to make its customers feel this way. I expected much more attention to food quality and safety. I won't be returning and I can't recommend it.

22/12/2025: In short, I must have been there on the wrong night, but I didn't eat well at all. I returned to this restaurant after a while, and the quality improved. The pasta was average, the meat was very good, and the Chinese menu was good. Still the best in the area 😋👍🔝

03/01/2026: A historic bar in the center of Varese, very charming and well-organized. The owner and staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The quality is excellent. Recommended for breakfast, lunch breaks, and aperitifs.

15/11/2025: Even in autumn, you can sit outside in the sun for a delicious aperitif or lunch with pizza and/or focaccia. My ricotta and spinach-filled focaccia was delicious and light.

04/11/2025: It's on the seafront, so it's bound to be beautiful. They only served us a few chips: there were more than 20 of us, and we had to ask a few times. But the guys were nice.

01/06/2025: Nice bar overlooking the roundabout, with foosball tables, tables inside and outside. Open from morning to late evening, fairly easy parking. View of the surrounding hills, mixed clientele.

11/05/2025: I didn't know that 3 lattes cost €3.00 in cash and €3.60 paid by phone. We were waiting for the receipt she gave but... after a while we left as the girl was procrastinating and at this point I thought we would be stupid if we waited, we wouldn't get the paper copy of the transaction, oh well I have the digital one of the card...

20/12/2025: We've celebrated several important events at this restaurant, and each time the experience has been excellent. The food quality is consistently top-notch: the food is truly delicious, with carefully crafted dishes and authentic flavors. The owners are renowned for their helpfulness and hospitality, making every guest feel at ease. We highly recommend this place, ideal for both special occasions and a pleasant evening of fine dining.

18/10/2025: As a Roman, I can only compliment the chef. An extraordinary cacio e pepe, a fabulous amatriciana, an amazing carbonara. What can I say? I recommend anyone who loves Roman cuisine to stop by Locanda Antica Roma.

12/01/2026: Highly not recommended!!!!! They only put a forkful of food on your plates, the fish arrived not completely defrosted, 40 minutes between courses, the owner who gets to know you without anyone giving him any... And then the appetizer and first course are expensive as gold (I repeat, a forkful) €60, after you leave there you have to go to the kebab shop to fill the hole in your stomach.

22/12/2025: One star because I can't give less. Yesterday, while I was at the restaurant, I witnessed a truly deplorable scene. The restaurant was packed, and I saw one of the employees rush out of the kitchen, followed by the owner, who not only verbally assaulted her, but also attempted to physically assault her. It was a truly shameful scene, and whatever may have happened, nothing justifies an owner using violence against an employee. I hope the woman gets her due, with a proper complaint!
