11/06/2025: This morning we had breakfast at Bar Why Not, on the advice of one of our customers... and we can only thank him! It was a truly pleasant discovery, one of those that make you start the day on the right foot. We chose a sweet and varied breakfast: a walnut brioche with a strong and enveloping flavor, a salted caramel brioche, delicious and a very special panettone, which we had never seen before. An original touch that really intrigued and conquered the palate. All accompanied by an excellent coffee, a creamy cappuccino and a fragrant barley. But what really made the difference was the welcome: the girl who served us was overwhelmingly friendly, with a sincere smile that immediately put us in a good mood. A simple but precious gesture, which makes a place special and makes you want to return. Working nearby, we have already decided that Why Not will be our point of reference for breakfasts and breaks during the day. And when we return on holiday in these parts, it will be a sure stop to find that mix of goodness and cordiality that won us over. Highly recommended to those who are in the area: try it, and you will understand why we will definitely return.

22/06/2025: We've known this restaurant since our first vacation on Lake Maggiore in 2023. Fortunately, nothing has changed! The service is friendly and unobtrusive, although that could also be due to the language barrier. The food was always excellent, from the starter to the main course to the dessert. Clearly our favorite restaurant on the lake! ...a quick addendum - the €40-50 per person refers to the complete package: prima plati, secondi, dessert, wine, water, and coffee. It's also possible to get cheaper, since the prima plati is already filling. But vacation only comes once a year. 😉

06/05/2025: Historic trattoria with typical seasonal dishes. Warm and welcoming atmosphere with a cool terrace to enjoy on hot days. Excellent house wine and nice choice of wines on the list. Strong dishes: starter of homemade cured meats, game, homemade desserts.

01/07/2025: What a great discovery! An excellent restaurant both for the quality of the dishes offered (which include typical local products) and for the kindness and friendliness of the staff. A special note on the professionalism of Valentina who with her cheerfulness immediately put us at ease, increasing our satisfaction and the positive perception of the place. Highly recommended only note: bring Autan because there are mosquitoes, it is still worth eating out because the place is cared for in detail!

08/06/2025: Indicated to me as a particular and personal trattoria, I found a modern restaurant, coherent and similar to the line that is found most frequently today: beautiful, tidy (even if noisy despite the precaution of sound-absorbing panels) but absolutely lacking in personality and the details that I had been told about. Nothing negative: flawless cuisine, complete menu even if lacking in particular (a NO instead for desserts), polite service even if with the approach of having to carry out one's task, and with the arrival of fragmented orders, for which to eat all together (4 diners) we had to wait (being Saturday evening however it is also understandable and to be accepted). Absolutely correct price. In conclusion, it is, in my opinion obviously, a place for which it would not be correct to express a negative thought, but also not even a positive opinion that pushes me to a real recommendation, except for those who are passing through, where they certainly will not have any inconveniences. I don't know if there was a really important renovation, but if so I have the doubt that it didn't give added value to the location and the soul of the place. Obviously these are just my personal opinions.

14/07/2025: The waiters and manager were very friendly and helpful. The prices were more than fair, and the food was truly delicious. We had a really good time. We tried this place randomly while walking past, but we'll definitely be back.

12/05/2025: The best pizzas I've ever had the chance to taste in my entire life! Incredible quality, fast service, in a really pleasant atmosphere, in this magnificent restaurant that I highly recommend!!!! All at an absolutely breathtaking price. The pizzas are large, there is something for everyone... really no false notes! Thanks again to the kindness of the staff, incredible evening, they deserve to be known!

09/07/2025: Overall, the dining experience offered a mix of fresh elements and areas for improvement. The salad was a highlight, praised for its freshness and use of quality ingredients, with the notable exception of the black olives, which appeared to be canned and not organic. The pizza, a potato and tuna option, was rated 5/10. While not poor, it lacked depth in flavor, and the use of potato chips as an ingredient was a detractor. Desserts received mixed reviews. The tiramisu scored 5/10, indicating it didn't meet expectations compared to other experiences. The profiteroles fared slightly better at 6/10, appreciated for their soft texture.

18/05/2025: During a recent stroll through the streets of Varese, I came across Messer Vino, a place that turned out to be a pleasant surprise, especially for a tasty aperitif and a good glass. I really appreciated the possibility of sitting at one of their outdoor tables, perfect for enjoying the atmosphere of the area. The only flaw: a little small and wobbly, especially when someone approaches and moves the plank that supports all the tables. The strong point is the 12-piece Giro Cicchetti, a curated assortment that ranges from revisited classics to creative proposals: from the tasty creamed cod to the refined Fassona tartare with rocket, parmesan and balsamic vinegar, up to the bold Blu di Capra with raspberry sauce. Each cicchetto, prepared with fresh and quality ingredients, offers a balance of flavors that satisfies different palates. Accompanied by a fresh and aromatic Hugo Spritz, the meal was completed by a glass of red wine, surprisingly rounded and pleasant, offered at an exceptional quality-price ratio (4€). With attentive service and an offer that combines variety, quality and convenience, Messer Vino is an excellent choice for a convivial and satisfying aperitif.

I have been there on several occasions and the tasting has always been positive; the portions are correct, the price/quality ratio is positive. I always recommend booking as the place has two rooms but does not have many seats. Recommended!
