24/08/2025: New mobile home on a small campsite right on the lake. Perfect for exploring the surrounding area, with great restaurants within walking distance.

21/08/2025: First of all: I'd really like to give it six stars, but that's not possible. We've been here several times in twelve years. Since then, it's been constantly modernized, but the most important thing remains: a campsite with indescribable charm in a prime location with the best team ever! Here are a few facts: - Small bar with nice seating (drinks, snacks, ice cream, etc.) and a kiosk for morning rolls and basic groceries (there's a supermarket a few hundred meters away in town). - Great beach directly adjacent to the campsite. Like everywhere here, the lake is rocky, so I recommend bringing beach chairs with you if your camper's luggage space still allows it. - Modernized sanitary facilities, cleaned regularly, in top condition. Washing machine and dryer are available in the adjacent "Casa Sabina." - Well-maintained pitches of varying sizes. For the electrical connection, I recommend bringing an extension cord or cable reel. I once had the misfortune of not having enough power to reach the connection point, but that probably only happens at a few sites here. - Perfect location as a starting point for day trips: boat tour across Lake Maggiore (pier in Maccagno not far away), bus to Luino, for example, or by car to Val Veddasca, etc. And what else? - Relaxed people, relaxed atmosphere, simply great! We were always treated very well; they speak Italian, German, and English – no problem at all, everyone is always very helpful, and you get what you want. There is also the option of renting mobile homes here. We did that once, and it's just as highly recommended as the holiday apartments at Casa Sabina, which can also be booked through reception. Dinner with friends, where we opted for the eight-course menu, accompanied by bottles of our choice. The chef introduced each course with detailed explanations of the type and provenance of the ingredients. You can tell he puts his heart and soul into his creations. I'll definitely be back. 17/06/2025: Came to eat lunch there. Had to wait long for the waiter, but when the order was made, the food came quite quickly. It was not so tasty as we expected, but the quality was good. Potato chips (served with shabu shabu) were especially disappointing. Nice with the compliment from the chef, it was the most delicious thing we ate there.

02/09/2025: We'd tried to go there for Valentine's Day but were unsuccessful, but this restaurant we saw while running along the Ticino River intrigued us. We went on Sunday and were very pleased. Kindness and professionalism reign supreme among the owners and waiters. On Sunday, they had mushrooms off the menu, and we enjoyed them both breaded and with tagliatelle. Delicious. We also ordered a cheese platter, which we thoroughly enjoyed. All this with a half bottle of Franciacorta. I highly recommend it for its quality, professionalism, and elegance.

10/08/2025: It was a great dinner experience here in Castigo. Service is exceptional and they look after us. Food is incredible and big portions. I ordered seafood pasta, its fresh and tastes amazing. Cacio Pepe is something if you want a light and creamy pasta, taste great as well! Ofcoursr, we had to finish the meal with a Tiramisu! My favourite Thank to Francesco for the recommendation and good service Will surely come back here again.

30/08/2025: Nice pizzeria near Piazza Dalmazia. Parking is a little difficult given the location, but I think it's worth it. The staff is very courteous and friendly. The pizzas are delicious and fragrant. The prices are in line with other pizzerias in the area. The interior is well-decorated and comfortable. The outdoor seating is also nice, although a bit compromised by traffic, which some might find a bit heavy. Regardless, it's a place I'd recommend.

05/09/2025: Guys! 4.7 points. Are you guys??? We went to this restaurant today because of the many good reviews. It's out of the way, no outside seating - yes, we knew that. Narrow street, no parking - the four parking spaces up there seem to always be occupied (I was there yesterday - they were all full too). No problem, back to the roundabout and then up the hill on foot, no problem. Once inside, however, climbing the tiled stairs wasn't exactly inviting. Upstairs, the smell of cleaning products and filth was off-putting - but you were hoping for some good food... The waiter, a funny guy. A bit too funny... was he trying to distract you? The food arrived quite quickly: the pizza was hot but soggy. The taste didn't live up to expectations (4.7). The mixed salad - absolutely nothing special, leaves carelessly thrown into a bowl. Then my "tentacoulo gigante" (squid) - how I was looking forward to it! A small pile of short squid arms arranged on two slices of bread, which served as a place to absorb the fat. Unfortunately, the pile was cold - how on earth could the giant cool down so quickly??? The accompanying fried potato chips were still hot - but dripping with grease... and half burned... The whole thing had a Gorgonzola flavor: not positively Gorgonzola-like, but rather undefined, unfresh. I couldn't help thinking of Verleihnix, the fishmonger in Asterix and Obelix... mentally, my gigantic fresh fish flew through the window... quickly paid, and off I went. On the way down, a quick trip to the bathroom, which was just as fruitless... (a chamber of horrors). Having accomplished nothing, we left the place and ordered a double espresso at the hotel. (To be fair, I have to say that the draft beer, water, and canned colas were quite good.)

15/09/2025: We live in the Veneto region, but I'm originally from this area, and since I was passing through on a business trip, I finally planned to visit this restaurant, which I'd been following on social media for some time. I must say that what they promise and advertise on social media and their website actually matches what I actually found. The local appetizer, the risotto "homage to Gualtiero Marchesi," and even the thick Milanese cutlet were exceptional! The mondeghili disappointed me only because I found them a bit dry, made with lean meat, but my point of comparison was the ones my grandmother used to make with leftover boiled meat. As far as I know, they're a dish made with poor leftovers; here, however, they were made with excellent ingredients, which somewhat distorts the concept, but I'm probably biased. Unfortunately, the desserts disappointed us, so I couldn't give the cuisine an excellent rating. The two waiters were extremely knowledgeable and professional, and the wine selection by the glass was spot on. If I really had to suggest improvement, I'd suggest keeping the red wine at a controlled temperature, not just at room temperature. It was 25°C (77°F). We were assigned a table on the enclosed veranda, which was tastefully decorated and furnished, but it was still a veranda. I would have preferred one of the rooms I'd seen on the website and which I saw in person yesterday, going to the bathroom. These rooms were very beautiful and in keeping with the idea of ​​a traditional trattoria. For this reason, I can't give the atmosphere an excellent rating, but I certainly would have if my table had been inside. I hadn't seen any photos of this veranda on the website or on social media, otherwise I would have specifically asked to sit in one of the inside rooms. Unfortunately, we happened to be there on an evening where there was a table with four adults and three children unaccustomed to this type of environment. They created a bit of a disturbance for everyone with their tantrums and running around, embarrassing even the waiters, who later apologized. I realize this is a sore point: choosing whether to forgo families to ensure a certain type of atmosphere. It's difficult to reconcile the idea of ​​a romantic venue with a family-friendly atmosphere. I urge the management to think about it, and perhaps even state on their website what type of clientele they're aiming for so as not to disappoint anyone's expectations. In any case, I can't wait to have the opportunity to return again!

Traditional Lombard cuisine in a very welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. Very courteous and attentive service, the wait is anything but long, and they even offer a small house appetizer as soon as you sit down. Highly recommended is the ossobuco with risotto, undoubtedly their signature dish, extraordinary. Alternatively, you can't go wrong with the cotoletta.
