05/11/2025: The lamb chops were sooo good!! The bread they served was also fresh and delicious — I especially loved the green one, maybe it had pistachio in it. I’ll definitely visit this restaurant again if I come back to Varenna!

02/11/2025: The service and location were good, the dishes in the kitchen could be improved, with more flavour and less spices. The cold cuts appetizer arrived covered in oil from the onions (1) and artichokes (1) placed on top of the cold cuts. For 18 euros I would have expected something better. The bottle of water at 4 euros a litre is definitely not a bargain. It's a shame, it wouldn't take much to be a good place to return to.

07/11/2025: Gelateria La Passerella has become a tradition for us—every time we visit Lake Como, we make sure to stop here. The gelato is consistently delicious, with a smooth texture and rich flavor, and they offer a great variety to choose from. Highly recommended! There are so many good flavours and they were all tasty. It was really good. ! A week later, I still crave for this.

04/11/2025: I could have bought frozen lamb from a random supermarket and it would have tasted better than what they served. For the price they charge, it’s frankly a ripoff. What made the experience even worse was the staff’s attitude: the waiter insisted, in a rather bossy tone, that we pay one single bill, even though each of us was charged a service fee. You either apply a service fee per table or allow separate bills. You can’t have it both ways. Having lived in Italy for years, I can say I’ve rarely had such an unpleasant dining experience.
31/10/2025: We loved this little restaurant where we had dinner. The welcome was very friendly. The appetizers and assortment of breads and breadsticks were a nice touch. The dishes were very good. I would have liked a bit more fish with the orecchiette, though. Remember to book ahead, as the restaurant is quite small when the weather isn't suitable for dining on the terrace.

27/10/2025: Very disappointed with this restaurant, as I'd seen good reviews and tempting photos. However, the pasta I ordered was really not great, and the cheese platter was very disappointing. We were seated upstairs, a bit forgotten.
However, the servers were friendly and cheerful.
27/10/2025: Disappointed by this restaurant. I chose it based on the good reviews, but compared to everything I've tried in Varenna, I felt like I was in a tourist trap.
The cheese tasting (€18) was really not up to scratch: limited portions, little honey or jam, and stale bread to accompany it all.
The wine was decent, and fortunately, the friendly service helped raise the bill a bit.

18/11/2025: A sadly outdated hotel, otherwise in a beautiful location, but with a mass-production feel.
For hours at night, there was a loud argument that kept flaring up in the hotel, which the staff failed to resolve despite guest complaints.
Also, due to the literally astronomical price-performance ratio: Never again!
17/10/2025: Incredibly nice and professional staff. Comfortable and spacious classic room. Loved that the Cipressi Gardens came with the room, as well as little touches throughout the stay (prosecco, candy). Wonderful!

24/10/2025: We had a beautiful evening here. My seafood SCIALATIELLI dish was so flavoursome and the salmon with pistachios was delicious. Out waiter was very efficient friendly and professional. Thank you for a memorable evening.

30/10/2025: A very poor experience visiting the Hotel Villa Cipressi this afternoon. We wanted to pass through the hotel to see the view of the lake and the gates of heaven (it said it was open until 7pm on their website) and we were rudely told no. This was very dissapointing as we have crossed the lake to see this attraction.
29/10/2025: We were initially promised a larger room with a gallery (soppalco), but we received a standard room. The furnishings were meager, with few pieces, and everything was tasteless and eclectic. Lunch in the bar was of poor quality. The visitors to the botanical garden spoiled the experience: crowded, noisy, and hardly any peace and quiet.

25/10/2025: It's impossible to get any closer to the water, and in the sun! Plus, the food is good and plentiful... provided you can find a table.
12/10/2025: We sat for a coffe and sweet desert. The view was wonderful at the afternoon. The cheesecake was horrible, stale. The spoon for the capuccino was dirty and reused. The cappuccino had something like crumbs . I woudnt recomend the place except for the view

04/10/2025: I ordered a coffee with milk, but they brought me a regular espresso. When I asked again what it was, she confidently replied, "Coffee with milk."
21/09/2025: There are a few things that went wrong during my visit.
1) When I ordered at the bar, the receptionist kept asking us to order more food, appetizers and drinks. Even though we said we didnt want to. It made us really uncomfortable. I get it that youre trying to upsell and get us to buy more food, but please do it nicely and dont smirk at us for not ordering appetizers?!
2) We ordered at 19:45. At 20:45, the food still didnt come. We went to ask at the cashier, and only after reminding them, then did the chef turned on the stove and started cooking and promised to serve the food in 10mins. Fortunately this was the case.
3) Unfortunately the food was a huge disappointment. They costed 20 euro a plate, but the taste was mediocre, like microwavable food.
4) We paid right after ordering, before we ate the food. After we finished the meal and wanted to leave, the staff asked us “have you paid yet?” Normally this is a normal question but since we have had 3 disappointing instances, it was really upsetting for them to do this.

On the bright side, the view was awesome. But this has nothing to do with the restaurant.
