Great cosy restaurant in Varenna. The gnocchi was excellent. Prior reservation is recommended.

It's good, but not exceptional - price/quality ratio is pretty average, but in comparison to other restaurants near Como the taste was the best. Nevertheless I would not expect anyone to eat well at Como region - my view is that it's a one big tourist trap with food made be people who have no idea what they do.

Absolute must! If you want to eat the best pasta on site you have to come to this small but fine restaurant. The service was a dream, even when we arrived just before lunch break we were served with a smile.

I came here for lunch in early March and immediately fell in love with this little restaurant. I had the wild boar pasta and a veal dish, which I can say was by far the BEST meal I had on my 2.5 week trip to Italy. If you want to be a step away from the tourists and eat at a delicious, family-run restaurant, go here! 😊

Il Cavatappi (the “Corkscrew”) is on a quiet side street just below Via Venini. My wife and I have had the pleasure of dining here twice, on our recent stay in Varenna and five years ago. This restaurant does not disappoint. Excellent northern Italian cooking served in a small intimate setting (there are only about seven tables inside, with a few outdoor tables). Indoor seating is by reservation, only. If you have the opportunity, you must try Il Cavatappi. You will not be disappointed.
