Royal Gourmet In Varenna

The hotel was beautiful, centrally located, and a truly peaceful place to come back to and enjoy the lake away from the more crowded tourist parts of Varenna. The biggest highlights were the unbeatable view, the best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had (with the aforementioned view), and dinner at the attached Visteria (best meal I’ve ever had). The staff who work at the restaurants and by the pool are incredible - so friendly and helpful. The reception staff were a little less warm and could have been more helpful with shuttle transit upon arrival to Varenna and with securing dinner reservations. Would absolutely recommend staying here.

If you end up at the hotel bar, you will be greeted by Aziz, a big fan of Georgians, a warm, friendly, kind and very good-humored bartender ❤️

Wonderful hotel in the sweet spot of Lake Como: Varenna. Sure it’s pricey; sure the rooms are small (welcome to Europe!) but the location can’t be beat. The staff are excellent. The breakfast was on point for a 4-star hotel. We were able to have our private boat pick us up at their dock. We will be back!

Exquisite service and exception cuisine! We had dinner in the Victoria Grill courtyard "greenhouse" last March, just before the season officially began. We shared several appetizers, the salmon and other dishes that were expertly prepared and simply delicious. I cannot wait to return! Also, the next afternoon, Paula and Mauro were kind enough to box up some desserts for our journey to Milan - the baba is a must try! The service combined with the exceptional food quality makes the Royal Victoria Grill a destination!

Thank you once again for such a wonderful stay. Not only were the staff genuinely willing to help with any issues, but the hotel itself was beautiful and the in-room facilities felt new and well-maintained. Compared to some other hotels in Italy where the facilities can feel a bit dated, this place was truly lovely. I would definitely love to come back, and I will absolutely recommend it to my family and friends.

My wife and I honeymooned here and overall had a great stay. We got unlucky with the room they put us in, so avoid room 116 They did offer to switch us out and comped a Spa session due to the rough room location within the hotel. Otherwise the hotel itself is great, beautiful bar area and pool deck and dining overlooking the lake. The stay was made special by Aziz at the hotel bar where we spent time before and after dinners. He was extremely attentive and clearly passionate about his craft and about the people he serves. He is a skilled bartender and took great care of us and we overheard several other guests praising his warm and welcoming demeanor. Federica, the concierge, was also extremely helpful in helping us with recommendations and resolving a few reservations we managed to botch on our own. Would definitely stay here again. The hotel and the town of Varenna are worth the trip.

Stopped by Royal Hotel Victoria for an afternoon aperitivo at the upper bar. Wonderful view of the lake. Our drinks were great. The bartender, Aziz, made the best aperol spritz I’ve had and picked the perfect gin for my husband’s gimlet. Snacks provided were good. I would go back again for sure.

We stopped here to have cocktails after a long day, navigating the ferries and it was so relaxing! Azizi was so nice as the bartender and was very fast.
