Olivedo Lido In Varenna

Wonderful place, very popular, Maria is the best. The aperitifs were truly enjoyable and the view was spectacular. Maria truly made us feel at home. I would recommend it to everyone.

We spent a month travelling Italy and our meal at the Varenna beach club rated as one of the best. It was a beautiful spring day and we opted to eat away from the tourist crowds right in front of the ferries when we discovered this beautiful spot… (from the ferry terminal walk across the bridge to the left and find the yellow building). I honestly think it was only quiet because most of the tourist headed straight ahead or to the right and completely miss this side of the village. Staff were friendly and welcoming, beautiful decor with picture perfect views of the lake and alps. The warmth of the fireplace was a welcome touch with the early spring air still a little chilly. They do have indoor and outdoor seating available. A little more expensive than some places, but authentic Italian food and the quality was excellent and they offer GF options. It was our anniversary so glad we splashed out, absolutely worth it. Highly recommend!

Atmospheric, friendly service, coffee 2-3 euros, Aperol 10 euros, no coperto added. Plenty of tables. It's worth walking a little further and enjoying the view.

When you arrive by train, when getting off in the city, this is the first cafe/restaurant you come across, since you are quite tired, most people just continue on their way inside, you don't even realize you are entering a cafe. The staff at least at the entrance is quite rude, as if they are guards in a prison and not waiters, etc., they shout if you pass the bar, they grab your hand, a very unpleasant experience, because when entering they demand that you immediately go to the bar to order whatever. A very bad experience, because it was not wiped properly I stained my jacket with whipped cream. There are many nice restaurants further along the beach in the town itself, don't go into this first cafe.
