09/04/2026: A paradise of flavors at an unbeatable price! A fantastic experience! We took advantage of the convenient jeep service that took us from the village directly to the refuge and brought us back down at the end of the day. The staff was incredibly kind; we immediately felt at home. The food? 10 stars! We started with perfect pizzoccheri, then continued with ribs, goat, and stew, all accompanied by truly amazing polenta uncia. We finished on a high note with an excellent selection of local cheeses and a mix of homemade cakes that were out of this world. All for just €20 per person (plus €10 for jeep transportation). Unbeatable value for money. Highly recommended, we'll definitely be back!

15/08/2026: We've always had great respect for this restaurant and its management, including the waiters. We've been frequenting it for some time, bringing several friends, and many have enjoyed the good food and service. Lately, however, we've encountered some disagreements about this very issue, but we still decided to spend Ferragosto there and made a reservation. Unfortunately, today was a day and lunch to forget, and perhaps the restaurant as well, not because of the quality of the food but because of the poor service, or rather, the treatment we received and the lack of empathy we encountered at the bar. Three waiters for perhaps a hundred people seemed too few, but today the final straw was having to eat lunch in a very hot room with barely a breath of fresh air. Between the heat and the wait at the table, we got tired and decided to leave the restaurant without explaining our reasons, but without even the slightest apology from the owners. It might be said that today is a special day: so many people, so hot, but also so much anger from those who paid the rather hefty bill. It didn't seem humane to continue a lunch where sweat was soaking my husband's shirt and the heat was rising. Unfortunately, we were told that the seats inside, in the heat, were assigned based on reservations, but we had booked 10 days ago and were a quarter of the way through, but who knows how we ended up in the last seats. We certainly seemed argumentative today, but I think it's fair to express our opinion, especially since the bill was handsomely paid, despite the heat, poor service, and our anger. Good luck!

02/07/2026: By sheer luck, the location is excellent, right on the road with a lake view (right on the road, so you can actually breathe in the air). The food is excellent, high-quality, and flavorful. The only flaw is the manager's acerbity; I'd take a little extra kindness instead... think twice before staying here... I don't know what the problem is with Varenna. They're bitter and obsessed with tourists, the entire world. Spend your hard-earned money elsewhere! Heartfelt advice! :)

22/07/2026: 1 Schiatt, 1 pizzoccheri, 1 shank and polenta with 1/2 liter of house red wine and a coke = about €70. Is this normal? It seems out of place to me. However, the location and service were excellent; the sciatt were average, the shank and polenta were really good, but the pizzoccheri were absolutely unpalatable. Not recommended, and obviously, we won't be returning.

The mixed cured meats appetizer was superb, the tagliolini with culatello served with fresh pasta were superb, the roast beef with special baked potatoes, and the delicious chocolate cake. The prices are average, like those of a farmhouse, but the flavors are truly incredible!

28/05/2026: The quality of the meat is generally excellent, but if you order online, expect to occasionally receive meat they would never sell in the store (for example, ground beef FULL of chunks of muscle, making it dry and much less flavorful). Also expect them to tell you they never know what they're getting, and you'll be keeping it with no guarantee for future orders. It would just stay there at the counter. Unfortunately, I won't order again because it's unfair to those who order without the same guarantee as those who can buy on-site... and they certainly don't pay less, on the contrary. As of today, May 28, 2026, I'm still waiting for a response to my email.

20/05/2026: I've finally found a shop that sells truly excellent quality horse meat. I travel many kilometers every week to get to Calolziocorte, but I do it with pleasure because healthy eating is one of the pillars of well-being. I've been buying horse meat for many years and know how difficult it is to find quality, especially superior quality, meat. I couldn't ask for better service, either. I order conveniently via WhatsApp and pick up part of my order vacuum-packed and divided into different daily portions, so I can enjoy a delicious dish every day. The meat is prepared with rare skill and is available in every possible combination. The business is run with immense passion, and the excellence of the products is a testament to this. They also sell cheeses, desserts, and much more...all of which are always of the highest quality.

15/08/2026: Best mondeghini ever! I finally found the perfect mondeghino (for me) with the right consistency, flavor, and, above all, the original recipe! We had a fantastic evening thanks to the hospitality and expertly prepared cuisine of the guys! Congratulations!!! All the dishes were delicious, including the "tuttopollo", cacio e pepe, mezze maniche, and risotto! The tatin was fresh and sublime, as was the blueberry and lemon balm sorbet! An evening we'll remember!
