17/04/2026: For my first time in Bergamo, I relied on the Osterie d'Italia guide for dinner. As always, it confirms how much easier it is to find a restaurant that not only offers good food but, above all, a place that makes you feel welcome. Es Al Gigianca does this very well, first and foremost with the attention to detail—as soon as you enter, you sense a serene and intimate atmosphere—and then with the entire dining room staff, who are courteous, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. Angelica, a rare gem, and the owner, Luigi, a wine enthusiast, together were able to advise and guide me throughout the meal, offering truly impeccable service. The cuisine was excellent, and you could taste the quality of the ingredients in traditional and seasonal dishes. I loved the Casonsei and the poached egg with polenta and truffle. The wine list was extensive, and finally, very interesting desserts, but the most surprising was their Tiramisu. Something extraordinary, however, was the Malvasia Passito wine, which I ordered to accompany the desserts. So, thanks for brightening up a solo evening in a new city. If I ever find myself in Bergamo again, I'll definitely be back! Greetings from Frascati Fabio.

05/07/2026: I am a foodie that lives in NYC and this is one of the better and more enjoyable meals I have had in a long time. The food was special, creative, perfectly executed and matched with a great wine. Veronica took care of me and I simply followed her suggestions, even though I am a solo dinner, Veronica made me feel like she herself is warmly hosting me. The food and vibe were a deeply memorable evening. Every dish was special, memorable and highly enjoyable. Rafioli di Sant’Alessandro — sheep ragù (very special), eggplant, mint/yogurt; Pata Negra abanico special with licorice/black garlic and melon–peach–pickle yogurt salad a dish that was memorably perfection I want it again please; Caprese dessert — basil panna cotta + tomato jam packed real flavor and a sweet end to a wonderful dinner.

26/06/2026: I had a lunch reservation and enjoyed it so much. I was eager to try local dishes like the polenta and scarpinocc. Amazing, just amazing. I enjoyed it so much and was given a wonderful wine suggestion. It was wonderful and I’d definitely return. They even had vegan options!

21/07/2026: What a wonderful evening :) GRAZIE The food was incredibly delicious. We had sensational mussels! The mussels are steamed in a pot with lemon and pepper. For the main course, we chose the swordfish and the fish platter. The pictures speak for themselves. As mentioned several times in the reviews, we were offered a glass of Prosecco at the beginning and Limoncello and/or Meloncello after the meal. However, this shouldn't be the reason for your visit! ... Thank you so much for the wonderful evening 🫶

18/07/2026: Beware of a tourist trap! The entire staff speaks Italian and Hindi, though not everyone speaks Italian or English well. If you want authentic Italian cuisine, steer clear of this place. The quality of the products is the worst I've encountered in Italy. I ended up having to rush back to the hotel...

05/07/2026: This Sunday morning, we decided to visit the Città Alta (Upper Town) despite the particularly intense heat, and we were surprised to find the streets relatively quiet. We decided to stop at this place for a moment's refreshment. The place was practically empty, but the experience was rather disappointing. We ordered a Spritz and a Spritz Hugo, both of which were poorly balanced and of disappointing quality. Despite the low turnout, we noticed a certain disorganization in the service between the young woman and the lady present. Even the chips served with the appetizers seemed less than freshly prepared. The disappointment is even greater because we had frequented this place in the past, receiving impeccable service and an excellent aperitif. Considering the price we paid, this time we felt the value for money was decidedly unsatisfactory.

21/09/2025: It's difficult to write this posthumous review; I should start way back in 2002, when I first discovered the bar. In 2017, it was the first place I celebrated my graduation with friends, and well, what can I say... we'll miss you, Perry! Even before the spritzes, how about the Grog?!? I also remember the delicious "spicy" sandwich, not to mention the love with which you and your wife served cappuccinos accompanied by biscuits. A gesture as simple as it was unique, demonstrating your love and passion for your customers and your work. Best of luck for the rest of your lives, and thank you for everything!!! Not a regular customer, but a grateful one.

They were excellent quality, just the right amount, and reasonably priced. It's a wonderful place surrounded by nature. We'll gladly return. I recommend everyone to try it.
