I am a foodie that lives in NYC and this is one of the better and more enjoyable meals I have had in a long time. The food was special, creative, perfectly executed and matched with a great wine. Veronica took care of me and I simply followed her suggestions, even though I am a solo dinner, Veronica made me feel like she herself is warmly hosting me. The food and vibe were a deeply memorable evening. Every dish was special, memorable and highly enjoyable. Rafioli di Sant’Alessandro — sheep ragù (very special), eggplant, mint/yogurt; Pata Negra abanico special with licorice/black garlic and melon–peach–pickle yogurt salad a dish that was memorably perfection I want it again please; Caprese dessert — basil panna cotta + tomato jam packed real flavor and a sweet end to a wonderful dinner.

I had a lunch reservation and enjoyed it so much. I was eager to try local dishes like the polenta and scarpinocc. Amazing, just amazing. I enjoyed it so much and was given a wonderful wine suggestion. It was wonderful and I’d definitely return. They even had vegan options!

We went for lunch. The restaurant has a characteristic atmosphere typical of the area we're in, "upper Bergamo." As for the service, I'd say friendliness isn't the restaurant's strong point. At one point, we felt very embarrassed. 😳!! The food was decent, but the portions and flavors needed to be improved. I wouldn't go back. 🤔

Let me start by saying the food was good, although the menu wasn't extensive, but it was sufficient because it covered all tastes. Even so, there was one detail I didn't like: when we arrived, the reservation was for the terrace, not inside, which is something they should at least mention. We were in the middle of a heatwave, and it was 33 degrees Celsius outside. When we asked if we could dine inside, the person told us it wasn't possible, assuming it was fully booked or occupied, but that wasn't the case because it was empty inside and remained so while we were there eating. It wasn't a nice touch, especially considering that the terrace was much more uncomfortable than inside. I've seen it listed as one of the best restaurants in Bergamo, but in my experience, that's not the case. Perhaps today just wasn't the day.

A very welcoming restaurant with meticulous attention to detail, just steps from Porta San Lorenzo and easily accessible from the bus stop. The menu is very sophisticated and caters to specific dietary needs (vegetarian and vegan). The staff is knowledgeable and the service is overall good. We didn't give it full marks only because they don't accept dogs larger than small, so we couldn't bring our medium-sized dog with us.

This is an exceptional restaurant. It's located a short walk from the Piazza Vecchia, yet calm and quiet. The staff were wonderful: friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The food was one of the best meals we have had in a month in Italy. Very highly recommended!

All the dishes were amazing. Don't skip dessert. The tallegio cheese cake was unlike any other cheese cake I've had before - the perfect light dessert and paired beautifully with the wine pairing. I will go out of my way to have a meal here next time I'm in the area.

Osteria Al Gigianca

17/04/2026: For my first time in Bergamo, I relied on the Osterie d'Italia guide for dinner. As always, it confirms how much easier it is to find a restaurant that not only offers good food but, above all, a place that makes you feel welcome. Es Al Gigianca does this very well, first and foremost with the attention to detail—as soon as you enter, you sense a serene and intimate atmosphere—and then with the entire dining room staff, who are courteous, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. Angelica, a rare gem, and the owner, Luigi, a wine enthusiast, together were able to advise and guide me throughout the meal, offering truly impeccable service. The cuisine was excellent, and you could taste the quality of the ingredients in traditional and seasonal dishes. I loved the Casonsei and the poached egg with polenta and truffle. The wine list was extensive, and finally, very interesting desserts, but the most surprising was their Tiramisu. Something extraordinary, however, was the Malvasia Passito wine, which I ordered to accompany the desserts. So, thanks for brightening up a solo evening in a new city. If I ever find myself in Bergamo again, I'll definitely be back! Greetings from Frascati Fabio.
