28/05/2025: Very positive experience at Cece & Simo. The tartare is seasoned directly at the table, a touch that we really appreciated. We also took a platter of cold cuts and one of cheeses: both excellent, with quality products. A big plus: the waiters are super prepared, helpful and attentive to every detail. To complete the dinner, two delicious desserts. Recommended!

Personale ottimo e gentile, dopo un paio di volte, puoi chiedere "il solito" ché si ricordano anche a distanza di tempo, prezzi leggermente sopra la media, ma giustificati dal servizio superbo. Un locale dall'ambiente accogliente e pulito con ampia scelta di consumazioni.

09/06/2025: A very nice and, above all, very fine little restaurant. The service is truly friendly and welcoming. The Tagliata di Manzo is one of the best, if not the best, I've ever tasted. The beer, wine, grappa, and coffee are also highly recommended. We'd love to come back. A top tip for Desenzano!

02/07/2025: That moment when expectations are higher than reality. The food is good, even while the creativity often doesn’t contribute to taste - I.e. the ash-cooked egg really doesn’t bring anything additional to your paladar. Ribs are good but lacking a better companion side dish than a marinated red cabbage. However, the main issue isn’t food, it’s service. The wine was brought very warm, we had to ask for a cooler. We ordered asparagus with the ash egg and truffle oil but they forgot the truffle oil and had to bring it separately. We were finishing dinner around 22:15 and were the only ones left, so the personnel started cleaning and collecting the rubbish. To say that we felt weird and unwelcomed is to say nothing. No one, including the chef who was actually working there in an opened kitchen, ever asked us if we liked food. A very striking difference to the level of hospitality you normally have in Italy.

15/06/2025: Great restaurant. We spent our wedding dinner and had wonderful time there. All dishes tasted amazing and were beautifully served. The stuff was really nice and helpfull and the decore was very cozy. Fully recommend!

24/06/2025: ordered the cotoletta alla milanese with a side of sautéed potatoes and the tiramisu. the cotoletta was good, but not the best i’ve ever had. the sautéed potatoes were also good, but could’ve had more flavour. the tiramisu was delicious and very moist. overall good service and kind servers.

21/06/2025: Perfect restaurant for a lunch break. Good and abundant dishes. They offer workers' menus with multiple variations and that's their strong point. The place is a bit noisy but then you get used to it.

25/05/2025: A beautiful location and if you like classically decorated restaurants, you'll be in the right place. On the advice of the hotel where I stayed due to car trouble, I ended up here. The food was excellent. An amuse of tuna with caramelized onion, pre-stuffed squid with asparagus and as a main course delicious fish with mash. Friendly service that helped the crowds in a nice and smooth way. Nice place.

04/05/2025: Absolutely recommended!!! Be sure to reserve, otherwise you won't get a table. Quaint old and one of the best restaurants on Lake Idro. Great outdoor area under the wisteria. Excellent meat quality. The 1kg steak was to die for. The veal cheeks melted in your mouth. The lamb was on point! The salads and desserts were also really delicious. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The prices were quite reasonable.

11/06/2025: I visited the abbey today for the first time. We had a private guide who explained the history and architecture of the place very well. Unfortunately, there are only a few monks left (just over a dozen) and the work to keep the environment in order is really a lot. The church shows signs of infiltration and the frescoes are at risk. The need for conservative restoration work is evident. The walnut choir has two parallel rows arranged on two levels: the upper one has 22 stalls for the monks and the lower one another 17 seats. Each bas-relief panel (each different from the other) represents the life of Saint Bernard: wonderful! The Nolar tower, called "Ciribiciaccola", is very beautiful, but it cannot be visited! The square-shaped bell tower is characteristic, with a clock and 5 bells. The cloister garden needs care (cutting the grass and planting flowers) and nothing gushes from the central fountain. The refreshment point is really small: fortunately, weather permitting, there is a large outdoor area with tables and chairs. Another sore point is the "Bottega dei monaci": almost all the products are only commercialized. We did not visit the organ, the mill, the guesthouse, the chapter, the dormitory... The conventual mass (with Gregorian chants) is celebrated only at 8:15. There is a bit of disappointment, but I hope to be able to change my mind 🙏🏼🙏🏼

10/06/2025: Well what can I say about this Abbey, immersed in the greenery, except the best. It is absolutely worth visiting, a secluded place, perfect for a meditation in silence. The Friars, then, are spectacular, I had the opportunity to confess with one of them and to speak with some. They are very prepared people, in my opinion, ahead of the albeit praiseworthy priests. Take a trip there, well-being is guaranteed.
