16/11/2025: It's a shame we can't give zero stars. Not for the quality, but for the service. We waited an hour for three dishes: a first course, a raw ham and burrata dish, and a sliced ​​steak. The sliced ​​steak was also served cold. Luckily, we asked promptly, because our order had clearly been lost. The huge discount for this total disservice was a generous 10%. Embarrassing to say the least, and we definitely won't be returning.

If you're looking for a "stylish" establishment, this isn't the place for you. The adjoining bookstore is also worth seeing and reading. The lunch menu is also worth mentioning: typical Triestine dishes prepared and served with care.

The appetizers were good and the first courses were exceptional, all strictly homemade (you can taste the quality!). The portions are just right, neither too large nor too small. 09/11/2025: In a warm mountain setting, with a lively dining room, Monday night showcased the vibrancy of one of the few active establishments in this beautiful mountain village. There were some pleasant surprises when choosing wines, including the magnificent Livio Felluga, Vértigo, which speaks of terroir and foreign grape varieties. Just a couple of pasta dishes with venison ragu, where the magic was diminished by the overuse of a heavy-handed knife that flattened the dish. The pasta was good, but the overall experience was underutilized by the presence of this harsh knife, which made everything seem even. A little cheese served as a fitting end to the meal. The next day we returned for lunch and found the same flaw in a goulash and a venison stew. The dishes fell short of their potential. Attentive service. Friendly atmosphere.

06/11/2025: Bar Cella Cicchetteria – A surefire way to enjoy a good drink I've never had the opportunity to eat here, but I've often stopped in for an aperitif or digestif, and the experience has always been very pleasant. The place has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, ideal for a quiet break. The grappas are excellent, with an interesting selection and well-presented. The service is always friendly and attentive, a detail that really makes the difference. A place you'll gladly return to for a good drink with friends.

11/11/2025: A wonderful experience, a heartfelt thank you to Mr. Eugenio and his staff. Yesterday we were at the Malcanton to celebrate my son's graduation. There were 14 of us, all thrilled with the atmosphere and service. Mr. Eugenio is a great host and a very helpful person.

09/06/2025: Als "Wiederholungstäter" wurden wir auch diesmal wieder nicht enttäuscht. Schöne Terrasse, schönes Lokal, netter und zuvorkommender Service und last but not least viel Gutes aus dem Meer und aus dem Keller. Wenn man in der Umgebung ist, unbedingt ausprobieren. Die Preise sind übrigens der Qualität entsprechend.

05/06/2025: Könnte man mehr Punkte vergeben das Castello hat es mehr als verdient. Wir waren eine Gruppe von sieben Personen Und alle Speisen die serviert wurden waren einfach fantastisch . Das Thunfisch Tatar einfach lecker . Aber auch die Hauptspeisen einfach ein Traum .Mir viel die Auswahl richtig schwer,weil alle Gerichte auf der Karte sehr verlockend klingen . Empfehlen kann man auf jeden Fall das Risotto mit Meeresfrüchten ,aber auch das Rinderfilet war ein Gedicht . Wir kommen auf jeden Fall nächstes Jahr wieder wenn wir in Muggia sind .

16/11/2025: For many years, I've traveled for work and pleasure throughout Italy and abroad, and for the first time in my life, in this typical Friulian osteria I was able to taste dishes that looked and tasted exactly like the food I ate at home, prepared by my mother. In this old osteria in the center of Udine, you can enjoy the authentic flavors of traditional Friulian home cooking. A reasonably varied menu, fast and efficient service, adequate portions, and reasonable prices. A well-deserved 5 stars.
