07/05/2026: The outside tables aren’t the most appealing, but don’t let that turn you away. The food is absolutely delicious and tastes very fresh, and the service is super nice as well. The atmosphere inside is very charming and authentic, while outside you can sit and watch people walk by. Definitely worth a visit.

08/05/2026: I paid my bill with a Wise Visa card which I use extensively in Europe for euro purchases. For some reason the bill was charged in Canadian dollars with a very poor exchange rate. I pointed this out to the waiter and he said he can’t change it so I paid. This is the first time this has happened on my Europe trip using my Wise card. Even used it at the same restaurant this morning and it processed in euros. I then asked the server if they could reverse the charge so I could pay the correct amount in cash euros. He said this could not be done. When I got home, I noticed the printed receipt has a note saying “I have been offered the choice of currency”. I clearly wasn’t given a choice. Someone is taking advantage of me. Either the vendor or the the transaction company ‘flat pay’

21/04/2026: Bravissimo! I first saw this restaurant in a video with Chef Giovanni making caponata. I followed his work in that video and have been making my caponata very similar to his. We're in Ortiga for the week and had a chance to dine here. The outstanding service started with Roberto carried through right the rest of the staff to the end of the evening.

07/06/2026: The short version: YOU MUST VISIT THIS RESTAURANT. No need to say much: This restaurant is above the rest. They serve Sicilian cuisine, creatively and subtly updated with a French touch, without ever becoming mannered. Beautiful, authentic Mediterranean interior, professional service. The food is magic. We've been there twice.

13/06/2026: At Via Trento 14, in the heart of Ortigia, on a cool June evening we discovered a true gem of Sicilian dining. We love and know Sicilian cuisine well. But "Ci Voleva" truly surprised us with its combination of professionalism, constant yet extremely discreet customer service, and the quality and freshness of the ingredients. Francesco welcomed us with a beautiful smile. We sat outside, and the wait was very short. I greatly appreciated Francesco's care in suggesting a pairing with the freshest octopus, having the chef prepare a cream that took into account some of my intolerances. My husband chose the linguine alla Ragusana. Ecstasy! During our stay in Syracuse, we will return (the restaurant opens continuously at 10:30 am) to enjoy the extensive menu once again and to meet Giusy's smile once again. Last but not least, excellent value for money. ..."It was needed" ..."It was worth it"!!!

02/07/2026: We returned to this restaurant after many years, the last time in 2019, precisely because we fondly remembered their seafood carbonara. Unfortunately, this time it didn't live up to our memories: as you can see from the photos, the dish looked different than it did back then and was a bit disappointing. A special mention goes to Francesca, the waitress who looked after us throughout the evening: kind, smiling, professional, and truly attentive to the customer. She was undoubtedly the added value of our experience. What left us most perplexed was the owner's attitude. We told her we had returned specifically after six years to relive that wonderful experience, but she showed no interest or attention. Furthermore, we had to wait for the bill because the POS wasn't working. This can happen. What struck us, however, was that, due to the same inconvenience, the next table was offered an amaro or limoncello as a gesture of courtesy, while we received nothing. We were simply presented with the bill with a cold "thank you, goodbye," without even asking how our dinner had gone. A shame, because it's precisely these small touches that make all the difference and make a guest feel welcomed. We left feeling that the care and hospitality we remembered had somewhat faded.

The service was equally impressive: attentive, warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming from beginning to end. The restaurant itself is charming, inviting, and full of character, creating the perfect atmosphere for a memorable evening. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we lingered longer than we intended. When it was finally time to close, our server gently and graciously let us know in such a classy and elegant way that we couldn’t help but smile. It perfectly reflected the hospitality and professionalism of the entire team. If you are visiting Syracuse and only have one evening to enjoy a special meal, make it here. There are many restaurants to choose from, but La Foglia 1984 delivers the complete experience: exceptional food, genuine hospitality, and a warm, authentic Sicilian atmosphere. It was one of the highlights of our time in Sicily and a place we will remember long after our trip is over. Thank you for a wonderful evening. The food, the service, the ambiance, and the hospitality were all flawless. We highly recommend La Foglia 1984 and look forward to returning whenever we are back in Syracuse.

21/04/2026: Small, non-touristy restaurant (only Italians in the dining room), where we ate fresh fish that we chose whole, before it was cooked.

10/05/2026: Excellent value for money. They've focused entirely on the food, not on the touristy location of the old fishermen's houses. I discovered a new Italian dish: Fregola with seafood. Excellent! In the evening, the tables are sheltered from the wind in small, intimate tents. Great!

10/05/2026: Truly a fabulous place, with very good, attentive, and always friendly staff. It's also an excellent choice for celiacs, thanks to the numerous gluten-free options and the attention to detail they put into their preparation, even using gluten-free breadcrumbs. The food was truly delicious, and the entire staff was friendly, helpful, and extremely attentive throughout the experience. Highly recommended!

03/05/2026: Good experience and good value for money. The only downside is that the tables on the terrace are quite close together. You're practically touching the person next to you while you're eating. Aside from that, the service was very friendly and fast.
