07/05/2026: The outside tables aren’t the most appealing, but don’t let that turn you away. The food is absolutely delicious and tastes very fresh, and the service is super nice as well. The atmosphere inside is very charming and authentic, while outside you can sit and watch people walk by. Definitely worth a visit.

08/05/2026: I paid my bill with a Wise Visa card which I use extensively in Europe for euro purchases. For some reason the bill was charged in Canadian dollars with a very poor exchange rate. I pointed this out to the waiter and he said he can’t change it so I paid. This is the first time this has happened on my Europe trip using my Wise card. Even used it at the same restaurant this morning and it processed in euros. I then asked the server if they could reverse the charge so I could pay the correct amount in cash euros. He said this could not be done. When I got home, I noticed the printed receipt has a note saying “I have been offered the choice of currency”. I clearly wasn’t given a choice. Someone is taking advantage of me. Either the vendor or the the transaction company ‘flat pay’

06/05/2026: Excellent place to eat in Ortigia. We ordered the risotto, which was one of the richest and creamiest I've ever had, and the Dubai cake for dessert. We were very full and happy, and with wine, it wasn't expensive. We'll definitely be back.

21/04/2026: Bravissimo! I first saw this restaurant in a video with Chef Giovanni making caponata. I followed his work in that video and have been making my caponata very similar to his. We're in Ortiga for the week and had a chance to dine here. The outstanding service started with Roberto carried through right the rest of the staff to the end of the evening.

16/05/2026: We left still hungry. Five small ravioli on our plate for an exorbitant price. My friend left a review to point this out. The owner claims that what we ordered was just an appetizer, which is, of course, untrue. Since he spoke our language, he didn't say anything to us while we were there. We did tell him we hadn't had enough to eat, but he simply asked the waitress to clear our table without offering us anything else. It's a real shame because the setting is lovely.

15/05/2026: A most welcoming atmosphere and exceptional cuisine! Their parmigiana is to die for and the pasta alla Norma is succulent! The owner treats you like a friend and manages his entire team brilliantly. The waiters are delightful and were incredibly kind, helping me find the right words in Italian despite the restaurant being very busy. Nothing is left to chance, the service is top-notch, and the bill was more than reasonable for such a delicious meal and such a friendly welcome. As a bonus, I was offered a small glass of homemade wild fennel brandy at the end of my meal. Thank you to the whole team and well done!

21/04/2026: Small, non-touristy restaurant (only Italians in the dining room), where we ate fresh fish that we chose whole, before it was cooked.

10/05/2026: Excellent value for money. They've focused entirely on the food, not on the touristy location of the old fishermen's houses. I discovered a new Italian dish: Fregola with seafood. Excellent! In the evening, the tables are sheltered from the wind in small, intimate tents. Great!

10/05/2026: Truly a fabulous place, with very good, attentive, and always friendly staff. It's also an excellent choice for celiacs, thanks to the numerous gluten-free options and the attention to detail they put into their preparation, even using gluten-free breadcrumbs. The food was truly delicious, and the entire staff was friendly, helpful, and extremely attentive throughout the experience. Highly recommended!

19/05/2026: An informal evening with colleagues, topped off with excellent cuisine. From the sharing seafood appetizers to the main courses and dessert, everything was excellent. The service was impeccable, friendly, and empathetic, which is hard to find these days. The atmosphere is simple, but that doesn't hurt on these evenings. If you choose Faretto, you're choosing it for quality.

17/05/2026: I had bruschetta, which was very flavorful, well-seasoned, and therefore delicious. I only had to add a little extra salt because I had a higher salt craving that day. The mixed salad with everything was also a delight—fresh, crisp, and very well-balanced. It's just a shame that the salad came without dressing, even in a restaurant that is certainly above average. Unfortunately, many restaurants in Italy miss out on valuable points with their customers, whom they could impress with a homemade salad dressing. So, here too, I had to order sugar separately from the provided ingredients for my dressing. A salad dressing without a balanced amount of sugar isn't a salad dressing. Or, as a general rule of thumb in cooking, where there's salt, there must also be sugar. You don't always have to taste it prominently; often it's enough if it just subtly enhances the flavor. My main course was a Pizza Capricciosa—and finally, after three failed attempts, I got a classic Neapolitan pizza. It was thin, with a crispy crust and large air bubbles, but unfortunately, the oregano wasn't in the tomato sauce; it was sprinkled on top afterward. Since my previous pizzas here always lacked oregano, I specifically ordered it this time. So I can't say whether it would have been included by default. It's clear that if it were sprinkled on before baking, it would burn. That's why it belongs in the tomato sauce. This flavors the sauce and distributes the oregano aroma evenly across the pizza. In particular, the untopped areas around the edge would also get the expected, typical Italian pizza flavor. This would make the crust even more appealing. For dessert, I chose a lemon mousse. Unfortunately, it was semi-frozen, but the flavor was a sweet highlight. A real mousse should be airy and light; this one had a consistency more like ice cream. As a result, when scooping out slices with a tablespoon, the pretty, round mousse practically squashed. ... I ordered two 0.33-liter Coca-Colas to drink. The real highlight came with the bill. Including the two-euro cover charge, the total was a very reasonable 29 euros. I'll definitely be back.

03/05/2026: Good experience and good value for money. The only downside is that the tables on the terrace are quite close together. You're practically touching the person next to you while you're eating. Aside from that, the service was very friendly and fast.
