It deserves at least a Michelin star for its dishes, but also for everything else. Top-notch atmosphere and professionalism. Its dishes tell the story of Sicily like few others can—compliments, truly.

MAGICAL EVENING IN ORTIGIA!
Excellent dinner with "Sirene"...wonderful spaghetti with sea urchins...and believe it or not, you can hear the sirens singing!
Delicious second course with grouper and calamari...beautifully painted by Chef Guarneri.
Followed by dessert...dinner accompanied by excellent champagne.
Welcoming and refined atmosphere with an international flavor.
A hard-to-miss location in Ortigia...you'll always be happy to return...Recommended by many!

An outstanding and memorable culinary experience at a wonderful restaurant. The setting is lovely, the staff here are welcoming and incredibly helpful and the menu truly fabulous. This is chefs 40th anniversary, so we despite some amazing current choices we went for the greatest hits tasting menu, having taken advice. The courses improved one after another. Truly the best shrimp dishes I have ever eaten and the best tuna. Dessert was incredible too.
The wine was perfect and inexpensive, suggested by the sommelier who was knowledgeable and helpful. The choice of wines available is simply vast!
Our thanks to everyone at Don Camillo for a wonderful experience. We really appreciated the effort that went into a perfect evening and looks forward to a return booking when next in Ortigia.

Don Camillo cooks like certain Sicilian writers, with an abundance of detail, a certain intellectual elegance, and the belief that complexity, when well-managed, can be a pleasure.
In Ortigia, there are precisely two ways to dine. The first is to be seduced by the postcard—tables overlooking the sea, an apricot-colored sunset, raw fish, and a chilled bottle of Etna white wine. The second leads behind a discreet door, away from the theater of the square. This is where Don Camillo is. The restaurant cultivates a quality that is increasingly rare in the contemporary gastronomic scene: a powerful personality. It maintains the courage to be itself.
The cuisine speaks Sicilian with a cosmopolitan accent. It doesn't deny its territory, but it doesn't remain a prisoner to it either. The dishes proceed in layers, sometimes with an almost baroque enthusiasm, as if the island's tradition had been passed down through a library rather than a trattoria. It's a cuisine that prefers to tell a story rather than simply execute a recipe.
The wine cellar is worth a visit in itself. More than a list of labels, it's a geography that connects Sicily to the rest of the world. Naturally, Don Camillo isn't a universal restaurant. Those seeking the immediacy of a freshly caught grilled fish might find it too reflective. Some dishes seem to want to engage with the diner rather than make them fall in love. But this very desire to argue, rather than please, is one of its most appealing traits.
The service is professional, competent, sometimes more focused on substance than theatricality. A choice that foodies tend to appreciate more than selfie-hunters.
At the end of the dinner, a clear feeling remains. Don Camillo isn't the most spectacular restaurant in Syracuse, nor the trendiest. That's something more difficult to achieve. It's a place with its own voice. And in the background noise of contemporary dining, an authentic voice is often worth more than a star.

Top marks for the ambiance, service, and wine list, while the food deserves top marks for some dishes, but not all: definitely the cod appetizer (excellent), and the tuna (excellent). The pasta was overcooked (unexpected in the South, but has been a constant these days), but not at all! Although the sauces were very good. The desserts were very sweet. A very talented sommelier helped us choose excellent wines from a truly well-stocked cellar. The service was friendly and professional. The atmosphere was truly beautiful.

One of the best dinners in recent years; their signature dish, spaghetti delle sirene, is truly sublime; the sea urchins and shrimp are truly sublime—that alone makes it worth a stop! The wine list is among the most interesting in Sicily, finally featuring some local wines, well-explained.
Everything is truly delicious. Thank you!
