12/06/2026: I am replying to your comment on Mrs. Valentina Buglio's review (who must have been blocked so as not to reply)...we only asked politely if the children's cutlets could arrive first since she said that the wait would be long and we would have waited without making any problems...tell her things clearly...about the meat I only wrote that it was a bit tasteless which does not mean that it was bad but not superlative either (a term never left our mouths) we said it was good when the boy (I think the older brother is very kind unlike the other) asked us, because indeed once it was seasoned it was...

07/06/2026: 2 stars only because the pasta was good... The meat was tender but tasteless... The grilled vegetables were equally good... One of the waiters was very superb... He couldn't advise us... He didn't give us time to choose, so much so that we were confused and laughed sarcastically as if to make fun of us... So much so that when we said "explain to me what the problem is" he left our table and thank goodness... At least the other guy was very kind... Even the children's cutlets arrived quite a while later and they had no taste at all, the meat seemed more like an omelette... the breading was quite thick and invisible... Too thick... anyway, we went there by chance, first and last time...

27/04/2026: A great immersion into local cuisine. The portions are huge. The food is delicious. For the first time, we were stuffed with mussels; we couldn't finish them. It's not a restaurant, of course, and nothing fancy, but it was very tasty and relatively inexpensive.

21/07/2026: It was so good! The antipasti were enormous (you have to like olives!) and the main courses were delicious (mushroom risotto, the original wild boar and chocolate pasta). The decor, a former olive press, is magnificent, and the welcome was absolutely charming. A wonderful experience.

27/07/2026: Well, what can I say? It's a Catania institution where most dishes are ordered by the course. However, it's not even worth going without booking two weeks in advance. Or, you can do the true Sicilian thing and just go without a reservation and easily wait an hour while enjoying an aperitif on a stool 😉

27/07/2026: One of the best trattorias in Catania. Very simple dishes but very well made. Fresh seafood, of course, and authentic Sicilian cuisine. 'Linguine del chef' is a must, but everything is good. There’s something special behind every dish.

01/06/2026: Disappointment. I've always appreciated this restaurant, which in the past has stood out for the quality of its dishes and generous portions. Unfortunately, on our last visit, we noticed a marked decline from the standards we were accustomed to. The dishes were almost flavorless, likely due to less than perfect preparation. The only positive note was the raw fish, which appeared fresh and of good quality. It's natural to wonder if the chef has changed since then. We ordered two appetizers for €28 each. The first courses were double portions, while the subsequent courses were significantly smaller, about half the size. We also noticed that other customers, despite ordering just one appetizer, were receiving portions essentially identical to ours, except for the first courses. We brought this to the attention of the waiter, but his explanations were rather confusing and unconvincing. For our first courses, we chose a calamarata with eggplant, swordfish, and salted ricotta. Overall, the flavor was more reminiscent of Pasta alla Norma, with a slight aftertaste of mint; the swordfish pieces were few, hard to spot, and lacking in flavor. We also tried a skewer of four prawns in curry. The prawns had been cooked in their shells, and the curry had been spread primarily on the outer surface of the shells. Consequently, much of the seasoning was removed during the cleaning process, leaving a barely perceptible flavor. Considering the quality this restaurant has always guaranteed in the past, the experience unfortunately fell short of expectations.

28/05/2026: I expected better overall, because some dishes weren't good (the risottos in particular). The service was adequate, and the atmosphere was welcoming and quiet.

19/06/2026: We came here specifically to try horse meat, and overall it was a great experience. The service was friendly, the staff welcoming, and the portions were very generous. The meat was tasty and of good quality. One thing to keep in mind though: if you order your steak medium rare, it will likely come out closer to rare — so it’s worth asking for one level more done if that matters to you. Another thing that stood out was how many locals were dining here, which usually says a lot about the quality and authenticity of a place. Definitely worth a visit.

10/06/2026: We stayed three days in Catania for a wedding. We went for the first time on Friday evening, arriving from Rome, for dinner, my wife and I. We were so happy with the welcome and the quality/price ratio, that we returned for the other 2 days with my cousins. When I return to Catania, we will return there for lunch or dinner. 02/11/2025: Nothing that would entice me to return. I was hoping it wasn't a touristy place, but other than the beautiful setting, everything was adequate. I don't know if there's anything better in Castiglione, but I wouldn't return here.

The atmosphere is elegant, welcoming, and meticulously crafted, perfect for celebrating a special occasion. The food was excellent: beautifully presented, prepared with quality ingredients, and truly delicious. All our guests enjoyed the menu. Special thanks also go to all the dining room staff, always smiling, helpful, and extremely professional. The waiters made us feel very welcome and oversaw every aspect of the evening with attention and kindness. We highly recommend this venue to anyone looking to organize a special event in a pleasant atmosphere, with excellent cuisine and impeccable service. We will definitely be back!

08/06/2026: Very generous food and decent appetizers. €35.00 for a set menu. Two first courses: a very greasy macaroni and bland ravioli. Grilled pork belly with dry, fatty and bland sausage and meatballs. Almond parfait The price would be reasonable if the quality were also reasonable. If you prioritize quantity over quality, this is the place for you.
