09/05/2026: One of the highlights of our Sicily trip. Generous hospitality, generous portions, a convivial atmosphere. You can tell they care hugely about their craft and looking after their guests. We ordered (for 2 of us, and we’re fairly greedy): - Ricotta Fritti - literally deep fried chunks of seasoned ricotta, not pancakes (the waiter kindly shared how they’re made so will attempt to recreate when we’re home, they were clouds of heaven) - Fried Artichoke - a must have, stuffed with garlic and parsley it was wonderful - Paccheri with slow cooked wine ragu - sweetness from plentiful carrots and fennel which is everywhere in the area (we found some growing on a walk nearby!) - Veal on the bone, with a side of simple grilled vegetables - Aubergine, radicchio and tomatoes - A slice of almond ricotta cake, topped with finely slivered almonds so fine they shattered in our mouths It was HEAVEN and if you are staying in Etna please go as I wish I could eat here every week. Thanks to the charming Alessandro who looked after us so well. ❤️

16/04/2026: A truly wonderful dinner. The staff were truly exquisite, and the owners were also very kind and helpful. The food was good, very fresh, very homemade, and delicious. Whatever they bring is always very good. I would go there all the time.

21/04/2026: A tasty Catanian souvenir. On Via Santa Filomena, in the beating heart of Catania that never sleeps, lies FUD, a Sicilian shop that has revolutionized the concept of street food. The place is a successful experiment in fusion. The informal spirit of an American pub meets the excellence of local Italian dining. The secret ingredient here is playfulness. The brand plays with the names of its offerings, translating the English "orecchiato" (little ear) into a Sicilian spelling: a brilliant idea to transform an international format into an original identity. We began the evening by indulging in delicious "timekillers" to share. Fried onion rings and a delicious combination of potatoes, onions, and sun-dried tomatoes. All washed down with a Tarì beer, a craft beer from Modica that is not only an expression of the region, but is, above all, an excellent product. The highlight of the evening came with the "burgers": • The unusual Donkey-inspired burger from the Shrek cartoon: a bold mix of donkey meat, smoked buffalo mozzarella, sautéed mushrooms, the sweetness of Giarratana onions, and "barbechiù" sauce, all wrapped up in homemade seeded bread. • The classic beefburger: a double Sicilian beef accompanied by double Madonie provola cheese, a fried organic egg, and the savory flavor of black pig cheek, served in soft, fragrant bread. An evening spent in the spirit of flavor and conviviality, where the quality of the ingredients meets the pleasure of good company.

21/04/2026: The food is really good and delicious. And the price is excellent too. The only problem is that they won't be able to eat together. The service is absolutely terrible and disorganized. First, one main course arrives, then after 10 minutes the wrong wine arrives, then nothing. Eventually, the antipasti arrive, but the other main course never comes. Only after everything else has been eaten did the carbonara arrive. This is simply unacceptable. Who is in charge of this restaurant? They're clearly incompetent!

27/04/2026: A great immersion into local cuisine. The portions are huge. The food is delicious. For the first time, we were stuffed with mussels; we couldn't finish them. It's not a restaurant, of course, and nothing fancy, but it was very tasty and relatively inexpensive.

17/04/2026: I read the many negative reviews and am in disbelief. We stopped by for lunch by chance, looking for a place to eat, and we had a wonderful meal. Excellent service, delicious food, and a more than fair price, with an appetizer (huge and tasty, it could almost be lunch in itself), two first courses, a dessert, and two coffees (about €40 each). The portions were generous, and we left the restaurant full and happy. Highly recommended.

17/04/2026: Last night we returned for the umpteenth time to this unique restaurant, housed in a former winery. Aside from the stunning scenery, it was once again the owner's warm welcome, the gracious and knowledgeable service of the two young women serving tables, and the pleasant background music that rounded out a superb dinner. We enjoyed a delicious appetizer of a trio of porcini mushrooms (the fried ones were excellent) and a delicate and flavorful first course of rice with artichokes. We finished with a very flavorful stuffed artichoke (breadcrumbs, anchovies, and pecorino cheese). Being full, we couldn't enjoy the homemade cakes, which looked delicious. We settled for the cantuccini and rosolio, graciously offered by the restaurant owner. This is a surefire place, and the chef's cuisine never disappoints—quite the opposite, in fact! We will definitely return and recommend it to anyone who wants to eat well. Prices are in line with the level, although a slight reduction might not bother customers, whether new or loyal (like us).

02/11/2025: Nothing that would entice me to return. I was hoping it wasn't a touristy place, but other than the beautiful setting, everything was adequate. I don't know if there's anything better in Castiglione, but I wouldn't return here.

03/05/2026: The wait staff's attention to detail was obsessive; the appetizer, first course, and second course were consumed in 50 minutes. We made it clear we were tourists, and we weren't given a proper welcome when it came to our choice of dishes. After the second course, the waiters didn't ask for coffee or liqueur, or for the dessert menu. There were no polite remarks at the cash register (such as "Is everything okay?"). The appetizer was bruschetta with cherry tomatoes (very cold, straight from the fridge). The first courses were very good (pasta with pistachio pesto and pasta with seafood). The second course, the mixed grill of horse meat, only had the horse meatball. The steak wasn't horse (and when we raised objections to the waiter, he assured us otherwise). But the taste and color, and above all, the same dish on another table, spoke volumes. A place with great attention to detail, but only because of the location.
