15/08/2025: I'd like to share my experience at this restaurant with you. The appetizers were subpar...very salty olives, frozen products...the fried Tuma cheese. The Florentine steak was very tough and full of fat. The dining room was very hot because it was far from the air conditioning. The wine list was good, including the liquor list.

22/08/2025: I've always been a big fan since they opened. I live outside now and tried to relive past experiences, but I was disappointed. One thing to note, and I hope it was a fluke, is that the quality has significantly declined: I had the parmigiana sandwich, bitter eggplant, fried in terrible oil, not-so-fresh bread, and cherry tomatoes that were at least a couple of days old and stuck in my mouth like chewing gum.
Please, get back on track (we also had a salad, which was disappointing, too, as well as REAL water in a CENTRAL SICILY place!!!). They're losing their identity. It's fine for tourists, but anyone who's been there in the past can't help but notice the decline in quality and experience.
21/08/2025: Unfortunately, on the day of our visit around 3 or 4 p.m., something was a bit off. We were immediately told that neither focaccia nor pizza were available. After that, we had to wait about 15 minutes for a waitress to arrive. Unfortunately, the water we ordered was forgotten and only brought with us when we asked for it. The food was, unfortunately, so-so. The paneer was very tasty, but the main course (Burger Sammer) was not good; the top burger was too crispy/hard, and the contents unfortunately didn't taste good either. We couldn't find a place to pay, so we went inside and paid ourselves. Unfortunately, it was probably a poor performance on the day.

25/08/2025: An excellent restaurant in Catania, dining in a classic setting with an 80s-style atmosphere; the service is also formal and very traditional. The dishes are carefully crafted with quality ingredients, and the strong local flavors are beautifully blended by the expert and skilled chef, resulting in a rainbow of flavors that will leave you feeling good. The sarde a beccafico (stuffed sardines) perfectly embodies all of this, a well-balanced dish with strong, bold flavors that alone is worth the trip.
06/08/2025: "Luxury prices in a place stuck in the past"
Everything was excellent... or almost. The service charge, including cover charge—a whopping €32 for two—is simply disproportionate and unjustified for such a modest, unrenovated establishment. Despite the lack of contemporary decor, they demand luxury restaurant prices.
They're only holding on to a well-worn Catanian reputation, devoid of any real value. A disappointing experience.

20/07/2025: Disappointing lunch: oily appetizers, bland and cold first courses, okay second courses, and a dessert that tasted like nothing. Overpriced for the quality of the food. However, the staff was prompt and courteous. The restaurant lacks adequate air conditioning for the number of tables.

06/07/2025: De eerste avond dat wij bij La Stiva gegeten hebben was zo lekker, puur en gastvrij dat wij avond twee en drie hier ook zijn geweest. Antonella en Angelo komen van Sicilië en koken met de producten uit de regio. Je krijgt geen menukaart maar een tafel vol kleine gerechtjes. Vooral proeven, delen en genieten. Goed om te weten; wijn en water zijn bij de totaalprijs inbegrepen.
Je proeft dat hier met liefde is gekookt. Antonella en Angelo hebben onze vakantie tot een feestje gemaakt.

And not everything came at the same time
I think the pizzeria and the kitchen didn't communicate... The meat didn't arrive until almost everything was finished.
02/08/2025: Excellent food and quality pizzas, even if the price range is above average... the atmosphere is great and ideal for summer because it's cool.

I can say out loud that in Catania you can't find better... the service is excellent, the guys are courteous and prepared... the food is always delicious (especially the "bavette allo scef" my favorite dish) writing the review made me want to book 🤣

One flaw: for ready-made meals, a 15% service charge at the end of the bill in Catania is way too much, especially considering you're already paying for the cover charge. If I'd looked at the receipt first, I definitely would have done or said something.

19/08/2025: I hadn't had lunch here in a long time and we confirmed the delicious lunch again, I also recommend the caramel cheesecake, an explosion of flavors.
17/08/2025: A fantastic experience, we are 16 with a reservation. As soon as we arrived, the welcome from Sergio Davide and Gina was fabulous. They made us sit down and immediately served us an extraordinary amuse-bouche, the chef knows how to do it, accompanied by a glass of prosecco. We ordered the appetizers, the very fresh raw fish was served and with its combinations it surprised us, then we moved on to the cooked dishes which were also delicious, in particular the grilled octopus which was served with a delicious and fragrant smoked sauce. We moved on to the first courses, a journey of flavors that chef Dario made us try, the unique and inimitable risotto, then, not to mention the linguine with sea urchins and red prawns, an extraordinary dish, you can hear every note. Then we moved on to the desserts: babà rated 10, pistachio and chocolate tart, exceptional, the cheesecake.

29/05/2025: I was passing by chance with my family, and looking inside the place something was shining on the left,,,, it was the fish display case that was shining with freshness, the eyes of the fish were talking to me and I couldn't resist, I had to stop and eat, well what can I say, I had seen very fresh fish, very good fried food, good wine, everything was top, highly recommended for those who love fish both raw and cooked, in the oysters I felt the taste of the sea, congratulations guys, keep it up, greetings from Cosenza and thanks for the hospitality

18/05/2025: They have advertisements at every road going to Castiglione, but are still difficult to find using our GPS. When we finally arrived at 9pm, we were the only guests - later another couple arrived. Even with this few customers you have to wait patiently for your food, our three dishes took about two hours. Very well prepared, great taste, but I will only go again, if I had a large antipasti plate before - elsewhere.
