07/05/2026: Terrible food, spoiled cured meats. No customer service, inattentive staff, they should call the NAS. Not recommended... only the "name" of the place remains, but soon they'll lose that too!!!

07/05/2026: I went there with my boyfriend. We waited 25 minutes at the table while being completely ignored, even though the table next to us was able to order before us despite arriving after we did (they were even able to eat and leave before we got served). Since my boyfriend was the only black person there, we wondered whether there was a connexion, if we arrived a bit late or if the restaurant was overbooked. At least the food was good, but it was a bit expensive (appetizer + main course).

06/05/2026: I've always considered Il Matriciano a benchmark for traditional Roman cuisine. Iconic dishes, executed with great respect for tradition, a historic setting, and service generally worthy of its reputation. Precisely for this reason, however, tonight's experience was a huge disappointment. In a restaurant of this caliber, it's simply unacceptable not to offer gluten-free bread options for celiac customers. Today, this isn't a "special" request, but a widespread and well-known need, especially for a restaurant that strives to maintain high standards and attracts an international clientele. The cuisine may be excellent, but customer service is an integral part of the experience. And on this point, unfortunately, the restaurant is seriously lacking. One star, not for the quality of the dishes, but for a shortcoming that in 2026 is truly unforgivable.

30/05/2026: We were allowed to sit down even though the staff were still eating (scusi e grazie mille!). We thoroughly enjoyed the traditional Roman cuisine there!

14/05/2026: Let me start by saying that I'm a huge food and cooking enthusiast, and very critical of both my own and others' cooking: the welcome was superb. Martina was adorable, both on the phone and on-site, and the entire staff was truly friendly and super professional! Special praise also goes to the sommelier: highly knowledgeable, friendly, and never pretentious. The food was incredible, with a special mention for the fried tripe and the best breaded steak I've ever had—even grandmothers couldn't match it (they won't read us anyway!). It's a pleasure and a joy to find places like this. See you soon, and thank you!

10/05/2026: I have celiac disease, and my experience at this restaurant was very serious and dangerous. I ordered gnocchi alla romana because the menu didn't indicate gluten. To be extra safe, I also asked the staff for confirmation, and they assured me it was gluten-free. Only at the end of the dinner did a waitress come to tell me that the dish actually contained gluten and that there had been an error in the menu printing. Such a situation is unacceptable: for a celiac, it's not simply a dietary preference, but a health issue. Mistakes regarding allergens and careless information can have serious consequences. However, I must acknowledge that the owners were very understanding and helpful in handling the situation, immediately understanding the gravity of the situation. Furthermore, the food overall was good, and this review isn't intended to discredit the restaurant, but simply to warn other people with celiac disease or allergies/intolerances about the importance of having accurate and reliable information about allergens. I hope, however, that the restaurant takes immediate action regarding allergen management and staff training, because what happened should not have happened again.

14/06/2026: We loved papalino! It was a beautiful setting and the waiter was excellent and friendly, and the food was wonderful. We had the carbonara and lasagna and a very good salad. They were all delicious. We would definitely go here again.

12/06/2026: This is a hidden treasure! We happened to walk in for dinner and had the best meal of our 10 day trip! Try the carbonara! Also, the price is super fair with top tier quality. I wish they were in California!

03/06/2026: I hadn't been here in years, and I must say I'd forgotten how good the food was! We had a guest from Turin, and we treated him to a mix of appetizers and main courses recommended by the owner. We were impressed, both by the friendliness of the owner and his staff, and by the variety and quality of the food. The wines were also interesting, with a choice of house and à la carte wines. I'll be back at the first opportunity.

03/06/2026: A rather unique, typical Roman trattoria. Truly excellent food. Not just carbonara and amatriciana, here you can enjoy authentic Roman dishes, even the slightly less common ones. Fast service and a family atmosphere.

15/06/2026: I had lunch at Da Enzo al 29 and was very satisfied. A quaint and authentic restaurant in the heart of Trastevere, where you can experience the true Roman atmosphere. The traditional dishes are prepared with quality ingredients and great attention to flavor: the carbonara, amatriciana, and artichokes alla giudia are truly excellent. The service was friendly and professional, despite the crowds. A genuine gastronomic experience that I recommend to anyone who wants to discover authentic Roman cuisine in a welcoming setting steeped in history.

15/06/2026: So glad I came for dinner. Its definitely best to line up before 6.30pm as it does get busy. They'll offer you drinks while in line also which you can go inside to order and pay and still keep your spot in line. Has the classic Roman trattoria feel. Carbonara and tiramusu were amazing. A cool vibe and beats the tourist traps in the historic centre.

04/05/2026: The service and welcome were adequate. Traditional dishes arrived very quickly after ordering. We thoroughly enjoyed the pasta. The house wine, however, was very light... The prices were rather high for simple dishes... but we are in Rome.

01/05/2026: It's fine for tourists, but not if you want to eat well. I don't like writing negative reviews, but since the price of everything has gone up, I've been valuing every single euro spent on the pleasure of eating, and there was nothing pleasant about it here. The place is in the center of Prati, where the selection is very wide, but sometimes you have to make a mistake, and that's what happened. Appetizers: pre-prepared mixed fried foods, a poor platter of cold cuts and cheeses (1) with jams (3) that were nonsense. The focaccia was good, not excellent, but still good, the water and flour together do their job. The service is entrusted to beginners, I say this because I've worked in several restaurants of varying quality, and not even the worst were we this disorganized. My order was taken with the same kindness as a traffic policeman giving you a ticket. Chipped appetizer plates were replaced with a less chipped one (the local health authority doesn't like this), appetizer plates were thrown at the table as they came, and an ice bucket was thrown at me on the edge of the table. The pizza was neither praise nor infamy; obviously, 1 order out of 7 was wrong (good, average). The burger (photo attached) was ordered well-done, just to be safe, given the current situation, and obviously I wasn't expecting it to be juicy, but it was downright dry. The bacon was diced, the kind Americans use for carbonara, so to speak. The cheddar: 2 slices from the supermarket. The bun: burnt on the outside and moist on the inside. Side: French fries, cooked 3 hours earlier and reheated, so much so that they were just the outside skin and dry on the inside. Gentlemen, this is not good, you have a gigantic menu and it's killing you, simplify, do less is better, I'm telling you, the potential is there.

02/05/2026: 4.75/5 Almost perfect!! The funny thing was the waiters take your finished plates away very quickly, like within 2 minutes, which was soo comical cause i haven’t seen that anywhere lol. The drinks were good, pastas and starter were very good too. It was pretty crowded and pre reserved mostly for a weekend night, but we could walk in for a table for two.

26/03/2026: Friendly and helpful staff. Homemade first courses, and good main courses as well. Reasonably priced. The house red wine deserves a second look.

22/02/2026: Terrible service... 20 minutes for a menu, an hour for an appetizer of only cured meats, my girlfriend had to get up and ask for the dishes. An hour eating only bread, disoriented waiters, no organization... I closed a liter of house wine and I received half a liter... I came in at 1:00 and at 2:30 they brought me the appetizer... the first courses arrived, overcooked gnocchi and raw fettuccine with porcini mushrooms... I won't tell you the rest...

03/06/2026: I had dinner here with a group of several people. We had mixed appetizers with meatballs, parmigiana, and more. We then shared the first courses, which were all very good, and finally, in my opinion, the best part: the meats. My friends and I chose cuts from the dry-aged selection. Both types of meat had fantastic flavors, and in my opinion, the cooking was perfect, not to mention the marbling. Everything was perfect!

02/06/2026: As a tourist, you're treated very badly. None of the pizzas we ordered had proper toppings, let alone tomato sauce. Later, we saw food at neighboring tables that looked better, but still nowhere near the price point. The waiter flirted unpleasantly and only brought us the bill after several tables that arrived after us had already left. Awful, as the name suggests. I can only advise against going there. You can get more authentic and better Italian food at any bakery or motorway service station.
