07/04/2026: I'm sorry, but I'll never return to this restaurant, and I'll tell you why: there were seven of us, and after eating and drinking (a lot), including some very expensive bottles, at midnight they told us they had to close. I'm sorry, but that's not how you behave!!!

22/03/2026: I visited Mazzo on 21st March 2025 and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. We began with a great meal in the main restaurant, where the food was very good and clearly made with care. After dinner, we moved to a smaller table for drinks and dessert, which turned into a really fun and relaxed part of the evening. It’s a great setup that lets you enjoy both a proper meal and a more casual, social atmosphere in one night. The service throughout was excellent—attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience feel special. I’ve been recommending this place to friends ever since, and it’s always on my list of must-visit spots whenever someone is heading to Rome. Highly recommended.

26/03/2026: Friendly and helpful staff. Homemade first courses, and good main courses as well. Reasonably priced. The house red wine deserves a second look.

22/02/2026: Terrible service... 20 minutes for a menu, an hour for an appetizer of only cured meats, my girlfriend had to get up and ask for the dishes. An hour eating only bread, disoriented waiters, no organization... I closed a liter of house wine and I received half a liter... I came in at 1:00 and at 2:30 they brought me the appetizer... the first courses arrived, overcooked gnocchi and raw fettuccine with porcini mushrooms... I won't tell you the rest...

06/04/2026: UPDATE 2026 Lunch on Easter Monday: everything was perfect, the staff were kind and efficient, the timing was right, and the dishes were excellent—all truly excellent. Congratulations. ******************************** Unlucky Evening It's true: it's not what it used to be. The place is still nice, sure, and it has the "name" of a trendy place, suitable for an aperitif but definitely not for dinner. The staff, although they really tried hard, seemed inexperienced and sloppy. Dinner was acceptable: the appetizers were good, some of the first courses were good, others less so (the tonnarelli with parmesan and truffle, the latter, didn't quite reach my taste buds). The fish main course was good, the meat course less so. It's a shame about the desserts, which used to be very good; the tiramisu was all cream, the chocolate-filled tartlet didn't have a chocolate-filled center. And don't tell me the owner who responds to all the reviews that the ingredients are excellent, because it's not the brush that makes the painter: you have to know how to use things... But the least pleasant thing was a problem with the wine. It might seem like a minor issue to some, but try to imagine the inconvenience you'd experience if water was brought to you at the end of the meal... you can survive, sure, but it's a nuisance and prevents you from fully enjoying the meal. The second bottle we chose had a flaw; the waitress insisted that the wine was special because it was organic and that it needed to be "understood." So she tasted it and, in her opinion, it was consistent with the ones she'd drunk and appreciated: "Wine is like that, believe me..." I believed her, but it seemed clear that it wasn't the wine that needed to be understood, but at least a basic understanding of the subject was needed, and it was annoying to hear "if you don't understand it, I can't change it for you." The wine was undrinkable, the pasta was getting cold, and my impatience was growing. We reported the problem to someone who was perhaps the head waiter, I don't know. He tasted the wine and agreed it wasn't good. He changed the bottle for us... the first courses were empty... the second bottle arrived, and with it the problems with the previous one. They replaced it this time, too, with wines by the glass, which were quite good. It's okay if the wine isn't good, it happens, but the issue needs to be addressed: saying the wine is good when it clearly isn't seems like a "political" thing (if the wine isn't good, we say it's special, but it can't be changed). In a restaurant, usually, if the wine isn't good, you change it, without having to go through all that fuss and without wasting a good portion of the evening, compromising its enjoyment. We agreed with what appeared to be the head waiter that the batch of wine we received was probably defective and that they would investigate. Yet after this, I noticed that the same bottle was served to another table, perhaps to less discerning customers... and that, in my opinion, is not done. I would advise taking care of the bathrooms, which were truly unusable even in galoshes.

30/03/2026: Despite all the positive things I'd heard about this establishment, I unfortunately didn't have a good experience at this restaurant. We found the welcome and service very cold. Not a single smile from beginning to end. Furthermore, our dishes took forever to arrive, and to top it off, my dish had to be sent back to the kitchen due to a mistake… adding even more to the wait… We also tried to ask for bread and cheese as a side dish, but despite several attempts, the cheese was forgotten, and we had to ask several waiters/waitresses for the bread, feeling like we were bothering them even though we weren't being pushy at all. Even though the place is beautiful and the food is good, I unfortunately didn't leave this restaurant feeling relaxed and satisfied with my lunch.

04/04/2026: Perfect place to eat before or after visiting the baths or catacombs. On the Appian Way. Very good. The menu has few options, but they're all excellent. We had an amazing meal at a reasonable price. The homemade tiramisu was also delicious.

31/03/2026: The atmosphere is simple and informal, reminiscent of traditional Roman trattorias, and the service is friendly. Excellent cacio e pepe, cured meats and cheese appetizers, and tiramisu.

06/04/2026: A farmhouse nestled in the greenery of Rome... large, separate dining areas and outdoor spaces with a play area for children and furry friends. The traditional first courses were delicious and plentiful, and I commend the grilled vegetables. We didn't wait for the mixed grilled meats, which looked excellent, but after an hour had passed since the first courses, we gave up and left. Good wine list. Understanding the large crowd and heartened by the first courses, we'll be back for the second courses and dessert 😑. Fair prices. Not all the staff smile, and even here... that can happen, even if... oh well.
