04/04/2026: Very cozy little place, they've been there for 40 years... Efficient service, friendly staff, very nice owner, Roman and non-Roman cuisine, meat and fish menus, excellent homemade pinsa, craft beers, wide selection of wines. I'll try the desserts next time... oh I forgot, the restaurant is also very affordable, with fair prices for the excellent quality of the food. That's a rare thing these days... Quiet and well-attended atmosphere. Highly recommended, close to the Auditorium and even a taxi stand. 💛❤️

09/06/2026: What a sight! We were here midday on June 6th, arriving "almost by mistake"... They welcomed us kindly (compared to other places that "eeeeeh it's too late"), and we sat down in this trattoria/osteria that smelled of many years of business... We obviously chose all Roman dishes... very generous and very good... which, if my stomach had said yes, I would have ordered more... Smiling and friendly staff. All this conveniently located in the Garbatella area... If we return to that area, we'll come back here!

You either want to be hunched over a scarred wooden table in a gloriously greasy, chaotic trattoria where the house red tastes like ink and the waiter hates your guts, or you want the full-blown, transcendental wizardry of Heinz Beck. Anything in between? That’s where the trouble starts. My quest for the "New Roman Soul" ended behind the Pantheon at La Ciambella. On paper, it’s a dream. The space is a vault of impeccable taste—all soaring stone arches and soft lighting, a sleek, surgical atelier where Roman classics are dissected with high-end ambition. The wine list is a genuine love letter to the peninsula, and the service is a well-oiled machine, professional to a fault. But here's the rub: you can’t cook the soul out of a city and expect it to still move you. I started with the Wrap con porchetta di maialino da latte. The staff described it as "delicate." In my book, "delicate" is a word for lace doilies, not porchetta. To me, it was practically invisible. When you see the word porchetta on a menu, you expect a punch to the jaw—salt, fat, garlic, the wild taste of the countryside. Instead, I got a polite wrap where the marinated cherry tomatoes and yoghurt sauce felt like unnecessary bystanders to a ghost of a pig. The one flickering light in the dark was the Maritozzo with creamed cod and lime. This was a clever, cheeky bit of business. Taking a pillowy, sweet breakfast staple and weaponising it with salt cod so smooth it defies the laws of physics? That worked. The lime cut through the richness like a switchblade. It was a brilliant opening act, but it unfortunately left the stage quiet. I pinned my last hopes on the namesake Ciambella con la Crema. I wanted a riot. I wanted that heavy, sugary, warm hug for the stomach that justifies the calories. What I got was more "lightness"—technical, airy, and ultimately, hollow. It’s not a bad meal. It’s technically sound, and in a neighborhood where you’re usually dodging frozen pizza and neon-colored gelato, it’s a dignified escape. But dignity doesn't satisfy a craving. I didn't find the new soul of Rome here; I found a very expensive, very beautiful silence. If you want the heart of this city, you’re better off looking where the floor is sticky or the stars are Michelin-rated. This middle ground is just too polite for its own good.

11/05/2026: Each time I visit Rome, I eat here. Once again, absolutely superb. Wonderful food, amazingly good wines from small producers, the most excellent and enthusiastic sommelier and great service. A must go.

17/07/2026: I came to this little restaurant on the recommendation of a friend, and I really enjoyed it. The food was excellent, and the staff were friendly. I highly recommend it.

09/07/2026: The place is nice and the staff is friendly. However, I wasn't happy with what I ate. Aside from hoping for carbonara, which wasn't on the menu... I ordered the gricia, which not only took almost an hour to arrive, but was also awful, with the pasta undercooked and the sauce tasteless. Oh, and I understand it's a local policy, but I didn't appreciate the fact that they can't change the size. Then they brought our main courses without removing the first courses... they were also forgetting to bring the wine; we had to remind them, and it wasn't even good (it took 10 minutes to lose its acidity and become drinkable). The fried foods (potato peels and zucchini served with the lamb) were definitely too oily and heavy. The tiramisu I tried wasn't bad, and the strawberry cup with vanilla ice cream was good, but not good enough to make me reconsider the dinner. I also find the prices a bit high for the type of dishes offered (for example, €13 for pasta with butter and parmesan, or even most of the appetizers, such as chopped tomatoes with oregano and anchovies). But the main thing that makes me leave such a low review is that after dinner I had severe stomach problems... sometimes the wrong night comes along, I'm sure other people have a great time here... unfortunately, that wasn't the case for me.

10/06/2026: Yesterday, among other things, I bought two buffalo mozzarella balls at the dairy. They were inedible: old and tasteless. It's not the first time I've noticed a deterioration in quality, but this time I'm writing about it. Obviously, I didn't keep them in the refrigerator and ate them after a few hours. Honestly, paying 20.90 per kg for quality inferior to that of a discount store seems to me to offend consumers, including Eataly.

20/01/2026: Been several times, you have to book! The food is good, as are the first courses and appetizers, even the lamb! The atmosphere is a bit too noisy, but it's worth it! Good service.

02/01/2026: NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE FROM THE FIRST TIME I WENT THERE, EVERYTHING SEEMED OK, THEN I RETURNED AFTER A YEAR... BUT I FOUND EVERYTHING REALLY NEGATIVE... THE LASAGNA WAS OVERFULL OF SAUCE AND THEN IT FELT LIKE I WAS EATING GUM INSTEAD OF PROVOLA. THE ESCAROLE, LET'S NOT TALK ABOUT IT... IT STANKED OVERHEAD AND FULL OF WATER (ABSURD) THE STEAK WAS BURNED AND BLACK... DISDIGGERING... THE MEATBALLS SEEMED TO BE BOUNCING ON THE PLATE, SWOLLEN AND INEDABLISHED... AND I'LL STOP HERE FOR EVERYTHING... IF YOU ARE NOT PREPARED FOR THE INFLUX OF PEOPLE... BETTER POKE AND GOOD SERVICE AND THE KITCHEN EVEN MORE... BECAUSE THE ENTIRETY DISAPPOINTED ME.. I DIDN'T EAT NOTHING

The pizza is excellent, but what makes the experience truly enjoyable is the atmosphere: the place is clean, well-kept, and has the perfect atmosphere for an evening with friends. Special thanks to the staff, who are truly courteous and professional. You feel pampered from start to finish. Highly recommended!
