09/02/2026: An old-fashioned, family-run trattoria serving traditional Modenese cuisine. We're located on the outskirts of town, yet easily accessible and with ample parking nearby. The cured meats are excellent, the gnocco fritto is just like our grandmothers used to make, and the menu also features tortellini, boiled meats, roasts, and much more. Friendly service and a decent selection on the wine list. Prices are in line with other similar restaurants for the quality of the ingredients offered.

15/02/2026: Even without a reservation, the team, despite being fully booked, made every effort to find us a table. Service was quick and friendly, and they spoke Italian, English, and German, so with this mix of languages, you could get what you wanted. The menu was ample, with plenty of vegetarian options. Prices were quite reasonable, and pizzas were inexpensive. We felt very comfortable; on our third evening, we were treated like family. Our drinks were served almost as soon as we sat down, and we were verbally offered the day's specials. And they were definitely worth trying! I'd never had pork knuckle prepared Italian style before—a truly exceptional delicacy!

18/02/2026: A great option for lunch and dinner. It's super well located, in the historic heart of Modena and next to the Duomo. I recommend taking a nice stroll and then having lunch (doppo uno pranzo). The service is good and the dishes are delicious. I highly recommend it!!

20/01/2026: Aside from the fact that they charged me for 4 covers, even though there were only 2 of us—stupid me for not paying attention—I had some delicious fried gnocco and amazing ravioli. The price is a little high, but considering it's homemade, it's understandable. Highly recommended... oh, and the lady could have smiled a little more...

13/02/2026: A good, authentic trattoria, serving authentic dishes. The borlengo are delicious; the waiters are always there, and anyone can order as much as they want. My wife and I each started with a borlengo, her Gramigna alla boscaiola, and I pappardelle with game—good dishes in reasonable quantities. My wife continued with gnocco e prosciutto and tigelle with Nutella, and I had a good, generous grilled meat. We finished with balsamic vinegar gelato and walnut liqueur semifreddo. I highly recommend it. The wine was decent; it's a trattoria, they don't have bottles of fine wine, but water—all for €85. The young, dynamic staff and fast service were commendable; the wait was only reasonable for the cooking time.

02/02/2026: Found by chance during a trip, this restaurant is run by an eighty-year-old man skilled in the art of storytelling, but much less so in cooking. The menu is a mystery: no prices, no clarity; only after much persuasion do we discover that the fixed price is €30. While we wait, I read the reviews and discover the "script": the story of the meatless tortellini created for Ferrari. I barely have time to finish the paragraph before the owner begins his show with the next table, word for word. Each course has its own legend: the cherry wine, the herbal coffee, the sweet polenta. On the walls, photos of Pavarotti (and a few photomontages of dubious quality) bear witness to a past that may have been authentic, but which today is merely a cover. The reality is bleak: the tortellini are overcooked and of low-quality industrial quality, the wine tastes like a terrible table wine diluted with water and cherry syrup, the coffee is barley coffee that isn't even very strong, and the sweet polenta for dessert is a cloying packaged sbrisolona. I understand the post-Covid difficulties and the burden of a historic business struggling to stay afloat, but that doesn't justify peddling substandard supermarket food par excellence from Modena. It's a deception of the palate, peppered with phrases like "we're honest people, we'll give you a special price." I can even accept eating subpar meatless tortellini and two meatballs in tomato sauce with instant mashed potatoes from the supermarket, but not for €25-30. The 5-star reviews amaze me: evidently the storytelling is more captivating than the substance. If you're looking for a performance, go there; if you're looking for true tradition, go straight ahead.
