The atmosphere is family-friendly and the food is top-notch. We took advice from the excellent Ada and left the small restaurant feeling incredibly satisfied. Aside from the bloated belly, we hope to return soon.

If you're looking for a restaurant where you can make reservations, sit down, order your dishes from the menu, and enjoy a quiet meal, this isn't the place for you. At Ada's, it's not just about eating; it's a unique experience. The food is excellent, based on what she's prepared. And Ada's hospitality is something to be savoured. Must try once (or more) in your life.

Tradition, flavor, and simplicity in the heart of Modena's historic center. At Hosteria La Frasca, you'll find a unique atmosphere: the chef is also the host, serving dishes with passion, just like in the old days. Thanks to Ada, the atmosphere is convivial, original, and engaging. Authentic flavors, raw ingredients at the center, a sincere welcome, and a warmth that makes you feel like you're at an aunt's house. A place to experience and remember. The excellent asparagus with rolled pancetta and steamed artichokes, the authentically flavored pumpkin tortelli, a truly memorable cutlet on the bone, the flavorful and bold guinea fowl, quality prosciutto, and a superb tagliatelle cake.

Go there just to meet the owner, a true host who is eager to entertain and share a dinner with everyone. Just be careful with the prices; it's not exactly like an osteria.

Legend has it that a place still exists in the heart of Modena, a tiny hideaway of culinary excellence where, upon entering, you're welcomed into one of the most authentic and traditional establishments. This small, intimate kingdom, a room with five or six tables, has been run dictatorially for the past 35 or 40 years solely by Signora Ada. In the morning, she goes to the Albinelli market to do the shopping, then cooks, serves, manages, etc. Just her and a unique passion. Exceptional dishes, always freshly made and never heavy. BUT THIS IS NOT A PLACE FOR EVERYONE, BEWARE!!! There's a menu, but it usually directs you to the best of what the market has to offer daily, as she's the only one there, and therefore dictatorial. She'll make sexual jokes and thinly veiled innuendos that might make the uninitiated stiff. But that's part of the show and the convivial atmosphere that's created among the patrons. She's a unique character. Anyway, three appetizers: porchetta and snow peas, prosciutto and melon, cotechino and cabbage. Top. Tortelloni, and a main course of guinea fowl, shank, or whatever. House cakes, water, wine, nocino liqueur, and mokona coffee, or if you're among the last to arrive, go and drink it with her at the bar... €40. Excellent, light and not heavy, no less than the most prestigious restaurants in the city. A day out of the ordinary. Thank you, Ada, for your passion.

The best moment comes at the end of the evening, when Ada sits down with her guests for a drink, as one would with friends. It's not just a dinner, but an authentic, rare, and precious experience. 20/05/2026: Had lunch with friends, everything was excellent. The fried gnocco, tigelle, and cured meats were delicious. We'll be back.
17/05/2026: Overall, a decent experience: the food wasn't bad, and some dishes were even good, especially the starters. The wait was a bit long, and the tigelle were too full of pasta. The bill seemed decidedly high for what we ate: €64 without a receipt (a fake receipt), which left me a bit perplexed. I'm fine with them doing business under the table, but since they're saving on taxes, they could at least have offered a discount. Overall, the quality-price ratio needs to be reconsidered, in my opinion.

21/05/2026: YOU HAVE TO ISSUE CUSTOMERS RECEIPTS. I WAS GIVEN A PIECE OF PAPER WITH A MANAGEMENT DOCUMENT WRITTEN ON IT. I DIDN'T SEE A RECEIPT BE MADE IN THE ENTIRE TIME I WAS IN LINE AT THE CHECKOUT! NOTHING TO SAY ABOUT THE FOOD. However, it doesn't work like that, meaning I have to ask for an invoice? You have to issue one regardless... what are you talking about!
12/05/2026: A delightful journey back to the '90s, reminiscent of forgotten aromas and flavors in a welcoming, maternal home. Gnocco with prosciutto, tortellini in broth, and a mascarpone cream—a sensory experience. Exceptional.
