You're immediately greeted with courtesy and elegance, right up to the restaurant entrance where I'll wait for you to put away your jacket or coat. Then you're escorted to your table, and from there the lust begins. Knowing what's cooking is fantastic, with fantastic pairings and exquisite ingredients. I assure you that with just two simple things to start the aperitif (mortadella and schiacciata), you'll already be in raptures. 01/01/2026: A first-rate New Year's Eve dinner! We tried this restaurant for the first time for New Year's Eve dinner and were truly delighted. The location is intimate, warm, and welcoming. The staff is extremely kind and attentive. The food is high-quality, delicious to say the least (especially the pumpkin tortelli) with generous portions. Furthermore, we were always served very quickly. Highly recommended!

30/12/2025: I was there last night to celebrate a special occasion. I finally got to try the vegetarian menu, which, as in my case, is vegan and can be veganized without any problems or prior notice. You can choose individually, without obligation, for the entire table. All I can say is delicious. I really appreciated the cashew cheese substitute. The roast mushrooms were meaty and delicious, and the dessert was moist and delicious. The tasting menu costs €60, but you won't leave hungry; I was very full. A Michelin-starred restaurant that lived up to expectations. It's nice to have vegan options. Even my omnivorous companion was thrilled with both my vegan menu and his meat-based dishes. We'll definitely be back ♥️

07/01/2026: I go there every time I pass by for work. It's now a regular stop for me, I feel like I'm part of the family. The staff are truly fantastic: kind, competent, and just the right amount of friendly. As for the food, well, what can I say? Fantastic. Every time, new offerings on top of the menu, always respecting the local Mantuan tradition. The quality is always excellent. 28/12/2025: Our first experience at Osteria Number 2 (we're a couple) was extremely pleasant. It happened by chance on their fridge-clearing day during their holiday closure (December 28, 2025). We were fortunate enough to attend a fantastic live music event accompanied by a surprise menu full of specialties and fabulous dishes. What struck us most, besides the abundance of good food, was the team's passion and dedication in offering a pleasant and entertaining experience. It wasn't just a simple lunch, but a true opportunity for fun and conviviality. We'll definitely be back in the future because it's worth it!

06/01/2026: A very welcoming and unique place, with attention to detail and many eye-catching furnishings. Impeccable and fast service, with little wait between courses. Friendly and helpful staff. The food was delicious, and the stay was pleasant. We had an appetizer, first course, second course, dessert, and coffee. Highly recommended; I'll definitely be back, especially to try the guinea fowl tortelloni with aromatic herbs.

17/12/2025: The Mantuan risotto alla pilota (grained) was excellent. The pork ribs were excellent. The only downside was the wine: the Mantuan Lambrusco they offered wasn't great; there are better wineries...and we know a thing or two about wine, since we're from Mantua. The location is simple and welcoming, and parking is convenient. Recommended.

15/01/2026: Osteria delle 5 lire - my son's birthday - immersed in the Po Valley, when you arrive, you find a white bear in the entrance and other objects that precede what you will find inside, in an old house they have created a beautiful and lively environment, nothing is left to chance or done, the ceiling in our room was full of festoons that gave a feeling of well-being, on the table a placemat different from the other with a theme from a film, glasses all different from each other, it was our first experience and the waiter told us to order in moderation as the portions are abundant, we had a crouton with burrata as a starter, with one we ate for three, then we ordered two crepes with radicchio and crispy bacon, excellent, and a hare and radicchio ravioli, the portions are really abundant, then we went on to the dessert, with one we ate for three, excellent, fast, kind and attentive service, the bill paid with 1/2 liter of wine, a glass and 2 mineral waters and corrected coffee € 105, while we were eating we saw other dishes pass by, really delicious ones that we promised ourselves we would try next time, highly recommended

08/01/2026: We read about Osteria dei Ranari in the Guide, and immediately got in the car, intent on trying their historic cuisine. Arriving in Mantua on a freezing, snowy day, we were greeted by the warmth of the grandmother's floorboards and the old wooden tables. The dishes are like a warm embrace, a cuddle, both the vegetarian options and the classic meat dishes. My companion ordered sweet pumpkin ravioli and the mixed boiled meats, while I ordered the pasta with toma, artichokes, and pumpkin, and a terracotta gratin with taleggio, onion, artichokes, and potatoes, finishing with a Belgian pudding. We washed it all down with an excellent Lambrusco recommended by the waitress. The service was discreet and excellent, and the lady in the kitchen was very kind to share the dessert recipe with us when it came to the bill and to chat with us cordially. We left again in the cold, but satisfied and refreshed. Thank you for everything!

12/01/2026: A small restaurant near the city center, it feels right at home as soon as you enter. The platter of cured meats is delicious, as are the first courses, pumpkin tortelli, and bigoli with bacon and pecorino cheese. The horsemeat stew with polenta is also excellent. Fast service and friendly, helpful staff.

This restaurant deserves my praise because I've discovered a place I'll return to and recommend to readers. For me, as a food and wine critic, and as a profession, I'm always faced with a problem. I didn't find it here. The staff were professional, friendly, and helpful. Being recommended felt like home. Excellent food. Local specialties. Excellent value for money. Nearly central location. My praise goes to all the staff and owners. Keep it up.

19/01/2026: Delicious! Truly delicious traditional dishes: the radicchio crepes and pork shoulder with Lambrusco sauce were truly excellent! The local wine was very good, and the staff was friendly and attentive. Highly recommended!
