04/03/2026: It's 2026, and I find it truly inconceivable to walk into a bar, especially in the city center and very popular, and not find a single lactose-free or vegan option. In 2026, attention to intolerances and diverse dietary needs should be the norm, not the exception. The complete lack of alternatives demonstrates a lack of sensitivity to a segment of the clientele that is anything but marginal today. A disappointing experience. Negative rating, I don't recommend it.

10/10/2025: This was close to where I was staying, so we went twice. The food was excellent. The new owners have redone the place and the appearance is very pleasing. There is almost always a party or wedding on weekends, which adds to the festive atmosphere. I had the seafood, and the pizza. Both were done to perfection.

12/03/2026: Stopped in spontaneously one evening when they opened. Ordered delicious pizza slices to go. Solid and tasty. Friendly staff member on site, little to no English, but we managed to communicate reasonably well.

21/12/2025: We ordered some crispelle to go, truly delicious! They make them on Sundays at 12:00, hot and fluffy. The ones with sun-dried tomatoes, zucchini, and olives are delicious. The place is well-kept. The staff is friendly and welcoming!

30/11/2025: A historic pastry shop in Bagnara Calabra, famous for its nougat. I stopped by on Saturday, November 22nd, and purchased 3kg of Christmas nougat. My favorites are the soft and hard ostiato versions. I sampled several other flavors, all excellent. The price is €33 per kilo, well worth it.

03/03/2026: A very pleasant, uncomplicated place right by the sea. Good pizza, fritto misto, chocolate angel wings, and wine – all at reasonable prices. The service is friendly and relaxed; we felt truly welcome there.

29/10/2025: I don't often write restaurant reviews, but we had the best meal of our holiday here – almost fine dining, and at very reasonable prices. The historic building is truly a gem among Scilla's already beautiful architecture, and dining on the airy terrace overlooking the sea is particularly lovely. But what really made the evening special was the incredibly warm and welcoming sommelier, who guided us through the evening with charm and humor and clearly knows his stuff – even if you only order a single wine by the glass! Thank you for a wonderful last evening in Calabria. We'll be back!

24/10/2025: On our walk through the beautiful Chianalea neighborhood, we discovered this restaurant. It can be a bit annoying to climb a long staircase to reach the wonderful terrace overlooking the sea, but the effort is worth it because the views from there are magnificent. The entire restaurant is tastefully decorated. This carefully curated setting helped us achieve a very high level of gastronomic pleasure. We found the swordfish steaks to be very well seasoned and full of flavor. The tomato and burrata salad was a perfect accompaniment. The tomatoes tasted real, which is hard to find. Pizzo's truffle was perfectly cooked: we thought it was delicious. We paired the meal with a very smooth Greco Calabrian white wine. Both the maitre d' and the rest of the staff were impeccable in their work.

The service is impeccable: the staff is kind, attentive, and always smiling. The owner, Santo, manages to convey passion and hospitality, making you feel truly at home. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to discover the true flavors of Calabria. 01/01/2026: I was here at the beginning of December, I went to Locri to visit some friends and they told me I couldn't leave without going to eat here. It is about half an hour from Locri, we passed through Gerace (a splendid village worth visiting) until we arrived in Canolo in the heart of Aspromonte (you can also get here by other routes, cycle path and for walkers the Brigand's Path). The location started around the 70s/80s with a small room which then expanded over time and now there is a large room that can also host weddings or ceremonies, the style and furnishings are from the period. Cosimo's welcome is family-like, it's like going to visit a relative, attentive, courteous service and available to satisfy any need. The menu is varied, here you eat the sincere and genuine Calabrian tradition there is little room for experimental cuisine, this is the kingdom of opulence we had a complete appetizer two samples of first course and a grilled (everything cooked very well and with the right flavors) everything was so abundant that anything we didn't manage to eat we brought home. The price if I remember correctly was €30, exceptional value for money. There's a large parking lot, and when it's warm, there are tables outside. Coming here, you quickly go from sea level to mountainside, and the temperature difference is noticeable—about 10 degrees Celsius in summer and winter, so come here with appropriate clothing. That said, I can't wait to return to Calabria to visit him again. If you're in the area, I recommend trying this experience.
