24/01/2026: The shop looks really nice and the owner seemed very kind. We bought the traditional Pane di Semola Grano Duro and Prosciutto cotto, so we can try them at home. Only when we got home we noticed that we were sold stale bread which expired 2 days ago. This was very disapointing, so please shop with caution!

23/02/2026: My partner and I, a chef and a gourmet, were visiting the village and stopped for lunch at this little restaurant in the historic center. At the suggestion of Stefano, the restaurant manager, we chose the daily menu, and had the pleasure of sampling authentic, down-to-earth, no-frills cuisine, yet beautifully presented, with the wonderful flavor of local ingredients. They produced their own cured meats and cheeses, a variety of fresh pasta made with local grains, including Senatore Cappelli, fantastic desserts, and much more, all at an excellent value. We'll definitely be back!

22/02/2026: Sunday in February, the only restaurant open in Pietrapertosa. Luckily, we found the last free table. A €25 menu with a typical Lucanian appetizer, two first courses, and dessert. Exceptional dishes, local cured meats and cheeses, and homemade pasta. Friendly service. Best dish: a first course with crusco peppers, walnuts, and toasted bread, and a magnificent homemade pasta dish. Recommended.

15/03/2026: We didn't know about this wonderful hotel, discovered by chance in a small village of about 4,000 inhabitants. It's far superior to other more renowned, expensive, and disappointing hotels in other more famous Italian cities. Giuseppe's genius has created something unique: rooms with spacious, clean, modern bathrooms, and every comfort possible! The fully functional bar offers the option of purchasing fine local wines and grappas! Excellent and varied breakfast. A beautiful restaurant with delicious dishes of all kinds (first courses, second courses, wines, typical local desserts) at a good quality/price ratio! Excellent pizza is also available, including take-out! Free and very convenient parking nearby! Above all, however, is the friendliness and kindness of Giuseppe and all the staff. What can I say: unique. Highly recommended...

27/02/2026: "Basquiat Il Ristorantino" is a restaurant located in Matera near the Sassi. The atmosphere is very elegant; the interior is filled with paintings, and you immediately realize you're in a thoughtfully designed restaurant. Every dish we ordered, from appetizers to first courses, all the way to dessert, was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented! The food quality and the organization of the dishes were worthy of a Michelin star, not to mention the generous portions. The egg with sausage and onion served as an appetizer is noteworthy: I've never had an egg like this before, highly recommended! The prices are very reasonable, and the service is top-notch! I recommend it to anyone who wants Michelin-starred dining but with trattoria-like prices and quantities!

24/03/2026: Commenting on the food is probably pointless. I will only say that the cook was handling everything with his hands without washing them, that is, he made the fried buns after I had handled everything in the kitchen beforehand, as well as eating during the process of preparing our food, I am simply amazed that we did not leave. I should note that what we ordered were the traditional meatballs of the region with the red sauce (I refer to these above), carbonara and pork with mushrooms.

14/03/2026: Highly recommended restaurant. First of all, thanks to Daniele, the waiter: kind, helpful, polite, and with excellent recommendations. The kind of person who alone makes you want to return. Excellent cuisine and a well-curated wine list. Don't miss the appetizer tasting, the peperoni cruschi (cruschi peppers) and the veal fillet with porcini mushrooms. An authentic place where you eat well and feel even better. We'll be back!
