Basquiat Il Ristorantino In Matera

We happened to pass by the restaurant and it was tempting to go inside because the exterior was beautifully decorated! We made a reservation for dinner and were immediately served by a very friendly waiter. Inside, it was also very cozy!! Very much my style. We had a delicious meal. Everything was kept well monitored regarding when your glass was empty or when you had finished eating. So, everything was really fine! Maybe just one minor point… Is that there wasn't enough waiting time between courses. We received a complimentary appetizer from the house, which was also very tasty! Mom had ordered a starter, which was already a large portion, and the complimentary appetizer arrived a little later than the house aperitif. I didn't order a starter myself, but a main course and dessert. While she was still busy with her starter, my main course arrived. Perhaps it is always nicer to receive the main course together… This is really just a very minor flaw, because otherwise everything was really fine! Hats off to the chef and the waiter. Regards

"Basquiat Il Ristorantino" is a restaurant located in Matera near the Sassi. The atmosphere is very elegant; the interior is filled with paintings, and you immediately realize you're in a thoughtfully designed restaurant. Every dish we ordered, from appetizers to first courses, all the way to dessert, was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented! The food quality and the organization of the dishes were worthy of a Michelin star, not to mention the generous portions. The egg with sausage and onion served as an appetizer is noteworthy: I've never had an egg like this before, highly recommended! The prices are very reasonable, and the service is top-notch! I recommend it to anyone who wants Michelin-starred dining but with trattoria-like prices and quantities!

I was here for Valentine's Day dinner and I can't complain at all... A very unique and elegant place, the food was truly excellent. Well done!

We had a good dining experience...until we got the bill. It was inflated by about 50% (€187, instead of €112). All the items were correctly listed and priced, EXCEPT THE TOTAL BILL. When I pointed this out, they casually mentioned it is an arithmetic error, and changed the bill. No apologies even! Never have I experienced anything like this. I'd like to believe it is a honest mistake, but I can't imagine how only the total is off by a random amount. CUSTOMERS BEWARE!! Double check the math!
