04/04/2025: I came back to this place with great expectations and I was very disappointed. I had a maritozzo that I would define as neither good nor bad, normal. The real flop was the pan pizza, if I hadn't already eaten in this place in the past the rating would have been 1. The service didn't live up to expectations either, the waitress was almost annoyed that we had taken few things in her opinion and it's not elegant to explicitly show this to the customer (and in any case we spent €30 each so I wouldn't say we didn't eat). In any case I don't think I'll be back.

30/03/2025: We tried the padellino and the moderna. We were amazed by the lightness of the dough and the very particular and balanced combinations both in taste and colors. Good and beautiful, you can see that there is a lot of research and care in the preparation. High prices, but considering the quality, the service and the excellent wines and cocktails on the menu, it is worth it. We will return to try other flavors and doughs

29/12/2024: Very good food, perfect for aperitifs but you can also eat if you want. I recommend trying the tomato and basil bruschetta, the mixed cheese and cured meat platter, and the speck and cheese bruschetta were also very good. The waitress who served us was very polite and the food arrived quickly, even though the place was full. The bathrooms were also clean.

25/11/2024: We went to this place for an aperitif. The staff were really friendly and suggested the best wine for our tastes. The food is good, if I were to return to Perugia, I would definitely go there again

The food is truly excellent: dishes rich in flavour, prepared with fresh ingredients and served simply, but without neglecting quality. I particularly enjoyed the first courses and the meat, cooked to perfection. The only detail that, in my opinion, could be improved is the accompaniment of the chicken, which would have been even tastier with a suitable side dish. Apart from that, everything else was impeccable, from the friendly service to the quality of the dishes. Recommended for those who love authentic home cooking

01/04/2025: I have been going to this restaurant for a long time and my mistake was to almost always order the paella, which is always excellent. Then one day I started to taste the other dishes too and I realized what we had missed... Obviously we will make up for it next time... wonderful starters, excellent and well cooked fish, top notch desserts. Not to mention the courtesy, kindness and professionalism in the dining room and in the kitchen. I recommend booking as the place is not very large and you risk not finding a seat given the turnout. Upon request, they also do takeaway with on-site collection. Our compliments and keep it up!!! See you soon!!

06/04/2025: I don't know the Massimo of 'before' but the one of today, I say this because I have read some negative reviews, a bit here and a bit there, among the comments online, on the main social networks, and in the local press, a very 'skimpy' number tell of a menu no longer up to the level of the past! Since I was a child, I remember hearing about this restaurant several times, from friends, family and acquaintances, in an uninterrupted loop: "Massimo al lago (...) Massimo al lago (...)"! Personally I must say that Da Massimo you can eat tasty local cuisine at a truly honest price. The tasting menu, which is 90% and perhaps even more of the dishes that come out of the kitchen, includes a simple but genuine cold seafood appetizer, a series of hot seafood courses, two very abundant first courses, such as spaghetti allo scoglio and gnocchi agli scampi, lemon sorbet to cleanse the palate, followed by, as second courses, a sufficient fried seafood and a grilled seafood, also with breadcrumbs, dessert, digestive and/or coffee at the price of €38.00, €40.00 on holidays, what more could you want? It is certainly not fine dining but it has its reasons! Recommended for those looking for substance and not appearance!

05/04/2025: Unfortunately, it's sad to say but it's a far cry from the "Massimo" that made him famous throughout the area. We are, or rather were, regular customers, and for the sake of objectivity we must say that the dishes remained as good as in the past. The disappointing aspect is the prices, in particular on Christmas Eve we ordered 6 portions of their famous scampi cream to take away, totaling 112 euros. Ok the special evening, ok inflation, price increases and everything else, but charging more per portion for a takeaway sauce than the equivalent full first course consumed on site is truly absurd. I didn't point it out at the checkout because for me seriousness still comes first, so we paid as we should and goodbye. Too bad, from decades-long customers.

16/02/2025: My husband and I went last night, the staff were very young but also very precise, kind and professional. The place is wonderful, from the window even if it was dark you could see a breathtaking view. Excellent food, the pork neck a heavenly experience, excellent wine and perfect service. 16/12/2024: Welcomed with friendly professionalism. The table for two right in front of a splendid large window with a wonderful view of valleys, hills and snow-capped peaks. The goodness of the dishes completed this lunch break of the highest level, at reasonable prices.
