27/10/2025: My husband was enticed by the €4.50 happy hour cocktail offer, while I was a bit sceptical since the ratings weren’t that high. I’m glad to say I was wrong! The food was excellent and very reasonably priced — the Venetian cuttlefish with polenta was tender and full of flavour, and the chicken Milanese was spot on. The pizzas looked great too — and trust me, you can still get bad pizza in Venice. A lovely find, and definitely better than many places with higher ratings. A real hidden gem!

16/08/2025: A hidden, rather rough-hewn, homey place, mysterious and, just as the name suggests, a refuge/refreshment haven. The selection of dishes is refined and convincing, and the prices are average. The deep-dish pizza is good, with soft dough and excellent ingredients. The sandwiches are also good, juicy and packed with ingredients. The prices listed already include a cover charge (which is free), and the prices for drinks (canned, not on tap) are fair. The only downside is the amount of fries you can add for €2.50 per sandwich, which doesn't reflect the price paid because they're so few. It's better to order them separately as a single portion (as we did). A real shame, because since they're paid separately (and quite a bit), it would be nice to see more on the plate. That said, I'd definitely return for their pizza.

03/08/2025: There were 20 of us for our daughter's graduation dinner. We had a wonderful time; we highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a group dinner or just a couple. The atmosphere is very welcoming and intimate, with well-spaced tables that ensure privacy. The service is very attentive, and the staff is friendly and very professional. We had a dinner with a standing aperitif and a full meal at the table, featuring a meat-based menu. Every course was delicious, from the starters to the main courses, and we finished with a sublime dessert.

26/07/2025: A spectacular experience!! Exquisite food, welcoming and kind staff. We were pampered from start to finish. The fish was fresh and delicious, the wine superb. The desserts were exceptional (the cream tart has a special place in my heart). To try again and again.

04/11/2025: Lovely meal at Trattoria all Colonna. Very important to book in the evening but we managed to eat without a reservation on Tuesday at lunchtime. Typical local well cooked food from an osteria. Lovely beef carpaccio, followed by penne a la casa which was full of flavour very tasty indeed. All washed down with a beautiful local Veronese red beer - superb! You can get wines by the glass as well. Big thanks also to the kind staff and young man who helped get back an important pink bag full of insulin for my type 1 diabetic fiancé - grazie mille!!

28/10/2025: An unbelievable experience... I'd ask those who give high marks for the pizza if they've actually eaten pizza! I was served a slice of cheese that crackled, and I saw the same thing on the other dishes. Not to mention the people crowded together upstairs... while downstairs, in plain sight, everything was plain. Never again.

15/07/2025: Coperto fee is excessive and not posted clearly. To seat in the summer heat of 85 F with no fan and pay an 18 euro coperto fee (3 euro per person, 4 of which kids) on a 60 euro bill is high even for American tipping standards! The pizza was ok but not great… too dry for my taste and not enough mozzarella or sauce. Service was slow bringing the check and focused on setting new tables forcing us to seat further in the heat. I travelled to Rome, Amalfi Coast, Pompeii, Verona, Florence, Venice in three weeks and this is the first time I feel like writing a negative review on a place and encountered such a high coperto. On the positive, the bathroom was nice and fairly clean. Overall it soured my experience of this beautiful island.

12/10/2025: I love this place. Denis and his family run this restaurant impeccably. Every corner is spotless, and the bathroom is spacious and accessible. The food is excellent, the service is excellent, and the staff is always ready to accommodate any request. I recommend it to everyone.
