17/01/2026: My wife and I chose Lucca to spend a night with my wife during a weekend in Tuscany. The "Alla Corte degli Angeli" hotel is an extremely prestigious establishment; the hospitality is truly remarkable, and the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and welcoming. The property is located in the historic center and is housed in a truly beautiful old building. The only drawback is that it's not very easy to reach by car because it's located within the ZTL (Limited Traffic Zone). I still give it top marks because: 1. Despite the inconvenience, the staff promptly arranged for us to get a ZTL permit; 2. It's still in the historic center, making it a strategic location for exploring the city on foot.

24/12/2025: I had lunch at La Cucina dello Scompiglio today, and overall, I'm giving it three stars based more on trust than on genuine satisfaction (otherwise, it would have been two). The main issue, from my perspective, is a significant discrepancy between the menu and what's actually served. The vocabulary used on the menu creates expectations that aren't reflected in either the plating or the overall experience. The presentation of the dishes was very basic, even sloppy. A concrete example is the charcuterie and cheese platter: served not on a real platter but on a serving platter, with cold cuts piled together, under-appreciated cheeses, and a jam placed in a rather questionable manner. Overall, a dish that feels "thrown in," out of line with the offerings and, especially, the price. Regarding the quality of the meat and the plating of the other dishes, I wasn't convinced by the quality of the food compared to the price. Another important aspect: the menu is almost entirely based on vegetables/vegetarian dishes. Nothing bad in itself, but this should be made much clearer. My friends and I had a hard time choosing because the menu didn't clearly communicate this. Another negative note about dessert: I ordered a revisited panna cotta, which I barely tasted and left almost entirely. I didn't like it at all, and was surprised that no one asked if I liked it. Considering a panna cotta is a rather simple dessert, it left me perplexed. I sincerely believe the place has potential, but in my opinion it needs a general overhaul: from the menu, to the presentation, to the consistency between the menu, dishes, and prices. I hope this review can be useful as a starting point for improvement. For now, personally, I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon.

21/12/2025: We stopped by by chance, but we won't be returning. The atmosphere is pleasant, with well-spaced tables, and the service is courteous and quick. The clean and tidy restrooms deserve a special mention. Unfortunately, I didn't appreciate the dishes served: the skimpy spring rolls, the steamed vegetable ravioli that looked "industrial" and tasteless, and finally the curry rice that was very, very spicy.

14/03/2026: I haven't finished dinner yet, but I have to say we had a great variety to try out the place, and I must admit, everything is perfect: the excellent quality of the ingredients adds flavor to the dishes (uncommon with AYCE options), the impeccable and meticulous presentation, and the service as well. Well done, keep it up.

16/02/2026: We went for Valentine's Day. The food was all good, but the wait times and service were lacking; several times, both ours and other nearby tables received incorrect orders after waiting more than 20 minutes, and some dishes never even arrived. The ordering website was extremely slow and outdated; it needs to be revamped. Overall, it was adequate, but there's room for improvement, especially considering other sushi restaurants in the area.

17/02/2026: The dining experience was good, with attentive and friendly service. The average price per person was €35-45. The location inside was a bit unassuming, but it was nestled in a pleasant, green countryside setting.

16/02/2026: We were there for New Year's Eve, then a Saturday and finally for Valentine's Day, a lovely place, super friendly staff, the owner was very kind and friendly, the food was excellent, the prices were right, we will definitely be back, thanks ☺️

23/02/2026: We chose the maximum 9-course menu. I don't know if it was because there were only a few of us in the restaurant or if it should be counted differently, but we must have tasted about twenty items and left feeling full. Some were very good (bark, savory crème brûlée, salted crème caramel, artichoke, tortellini), some were more anonymous (the fish soups at the beginning), and some I personally didn't like. Specifically, some dishes (e.g., spaghetti with Versilian pesto) used helichrysum, which has a very distinctive flavor. And yesterday I discovered that I don't like helichrysum. In general, there are many dishes that lean toward the bitterness. My wife, who chose the gluten-free menu, had a spectacular bread. At the end, the chef came out and lingered for a very pleasant conversation. If you were spending €100 each, it would be highly recommended. We spent €340 for two with two glasses of regular sparkling wine. In my opinion it's too much

01/03/2026: I often go to this bar because it has excellent pastries and coffee. But today we also ate. The seafood spaghetti and mixed fried fish were excellent. The staff were friendly. Oh, and the cannoli (which they call "finger" here) with cream was super delicious.

My family, along with two grandchildren, go there very often.

18/09/2025: Famous for their highly praised cecina, which is good, but expensive. You can find it for much less and well-made at other pizzerias in the Lucca area, not to mention Pisa and Livorno, where it's a staple. Good pizza at reasonable prices, in a casual but clean atmosphere.
