17/03/2026: The restaurant is preserved in its old-fashioned style, with a large oven where the chicken is grilled, adding to the atmosphere. We tried everything for about 14 euros; two hungry people ate their fill. I recommend the cold vegetable salad.

26/02/2026: Simply delicious!!! Traditional pastry shop, and...for that reason even more authentic! Superlative products, from the almond paste to the cannoli...unique flavors! Even the next day, the Iris with cream and the brioche with tuppo: EXCELLENT...which means the quality is now unique and UNFINDABLE!!! A must-visit in Catania! Highly recommended! And the owners are very friendly, which makes you want to come back even more!

The staff were very friendly; even with a slight language barrier, they patiently explained the food.
The café had a great atmosphere, with Wi-Fi and power outlets available.
The sea salt caramel chocolate tart was delicious, perfectly balanced between sweet and savory, the chocolate was very smooth, and the crust wasn't too hard. Very satisfied.
The tapas were recommended by the staff (because I said I wasn't very hungry and just wanted a small snack). Each flavor was well-balanced. My favorite was the yogurt blueberry flavor—very refreshing. They also had ham with balsamic vinegar, smoked salmon, and pickled tomato flavors, all of which were delicious.

17/03/2026: Very disappointing! I'd heard great things about Bar Trento, and since I was in the area, I ordered two arancini to go and some crispelle. The salmon one was good, but the pistachio one had something that made it taste almost rancid and dry on the inside. I also ordered some rice crispelle. Five crispelle for €3.90 seemed excessive, but when the rice is also undercooked and they're al dente and unpleasant to chew... that seemed like too much.

30/10/2025: Food is patchy. Some like the burrata was very good others like the squid ink pasta was passable. What was most annoying was the anchovy pasta without anchovies. They took the orders even though the chef later admitted that there were no anchovies available. They only owned up when challenged.
Good selection of wines and friendly waiter.

05/01/2026: Bar Sgroi was very close to our apartment, so we went there for breakfast twice in a row. There was a vast selection of sweet pastries (and traditional savory delicacies like arancini), including cream-filled trecce, croissants, and Nutella-filled saccottini. We sat at the tables inside (there's also an outdoor seating area) and drank excellent coffees and cappuccinos, served by attentive and always very friendly staff.
Highly recommended!!!!!!
13/12/2025: The girl at the counter was very kind and professional.
The gentleman who served us, I think the owner, is a jack of all trades, serving food (nothing special) and cashing in. Many places in Catania do this, where hygiene standards aren't respected.
You can't serve food, even if you don't touch it, and then immediately touch money. Aside from the regulations, just the thought makes me a little sick.

11/04/2026: We went there spontaneously, without a reservation. Unfortunately, everything inside was full, but we were allowed to sit outside. They turned on a patio heater for us, so it was cozy. The pizzas were very good and highly recommended.

Lots of delicious dishes, revisited traditional dishes, fish and meat, cooked and raw (that's the advantage of large tables, you can try everything!). I really enjoyed it, I would go back, yes!
