27/03/2026: We happened to pass by the restaurant and it was tempting to go inside because the exterior was beautifully decorated! We made a reservation for dinner and were immediately served by a very friendly waiter. Inside, it was also very cozy!! Very much my style. We had a delicious meal. Everything was kept well monitored regarding when your glass was empty or when you had finished eating. So, everything was really fine! Maybe just one minor point… Is that there wasn't enough waiting time between courses. We received a complimentary appetizer from the house, which was also very tasty! Mom had ordered a starter, which was already a large portion, and the complimentary appetizer arrived a little later than the house aperitif. I didn't order a starter myself, but a main course and dessert. While she was still busy with her starter, my main course arrived. Perhaps it is always nicer to receive the main course together… This is really just a very minor flaw, because otherwise everything was really fine! Hats off to the chef and the waiter. Regards

23/03/2026: My friends and I went there 🥰. It's a lovely place, the owners are kind and professional, the food is good. I recommend the bruschetta 😍, all delicious, made with excellent local ingredients. I recommend buying the peperone crusco, it's delicious!

11/08/2026: The view from the terrace alone deserves 2,000 stars!!! But that's not all, because the interior, with its brick vaulted ceiling, is also very charming. The sandwiches, pinsa, and cold dishes are also excellent, served by friendly and helpful staff. Perfect for a break during a day exploring Castelmezzano!

08/05/2026: We came to this place on the recommendation of a local. It was a pleasant surprise: you're immersed in nature yet just a stone's throw from the city center. A truly charming location. The welcome was professional and friendly. One of the restaurant's strong points is definitely the wine list; here you can find wines from all over the world. What we ate was good but nothing special. Traditional cuisine with excellent ingredients. Definitely try the peperoni cruschi, a typical local dish.

16/08/2026: Upon entering this pizza by the slice (focacceria? You decide), you're greeted very warmly. The pizzas are EXCELLENT. The price is reasonable. In fact, given the location overlooking the Sassi, I'd say EXCELLENT. Congratulations on the excellent turnout for a quality product.

15/08/2026: As soon as we arrived in Matera, we went to the terrace here and were so impressed by the view. Now I understand why other reviews mentioned going twice. The food was delicious and the view was great.

24/04/2026: Francesco our main waiter was fabulous 😍. The degustation and wine pairing was sublime. It's very rare I give a 5 out of 5 for food but this place was stunning. I only gave 3 out of 5 for the atmosphere because there were not many people in the restaurant when we dined and the decor had a conflict of personality. I would have like to have seen more classic Italian decor to suit the 16th century dwelling. But please do go, it's amazing 🤩

06/08/2026: For those seeking relaxation and tranquility, this is the ideal place. Clean rooms, and breakfast features homemade cakes. The B&B manager, Giuseppe, is incredibly friendly and helpful, and even took us on various CAI (Italian Alpine Club) trails.

24/07/2026: New and well-furnished. It wasn't easy to find with a GPS, but thanks to a local, we found it. The breakfast was generous, including freshly baked pizza. The owner is very helpful with advice and local knowledge.

18/08/2026: A paradise for celiacs and lactose intolerants, especially when away from home 🏠. A completely gluten- and lactose-free place, with no risk of cross-contamination... Among the most popular dishes: eggplant parmigiana, the first course with Stigliano pistachio pesto, the cube roll, and their goat ricotta tiramisu. 🐐 Highly recommended place 🔝 Thanks to whoever thought of making this investment for us celiacs, who are less at ease when away from home ♥️

17/08/2026: A wonderful experience at this lovely restaurant, where everything is cooked gluten- and lactose-free, where for once those with intolerances don't feel different and can choose what they like. All the products are of excellent quality and traditional local produce, and the service and helpfulness of the owner are excellent. Thank you for your commitment and care in an industry where, unfortunately, there's still little attention to the product and limited choice. 27/04/2026: We were looking for something interesting for lunch in the beautiful city of Matera and stumbled upon this restaurant. It’s carved right into the hillside—exactly that traditional vibe people come here for. The service was absolutely amazing. Huge selection of wines. The menu is nicely tailored to the local cuisine. We really enjoyed everything, from the starter to the main course. The only small downside was a bit of flaking lime from the ceiling paint, but that’s probably pretty common in this type of space.

23/07/2026: There's no menu other than the one in the owner's mind, which he recommends based on food availability. The appetizer is truly exceptional, but above all rich and plentiful, so much so that it alone leaves you feeling full. We did, however, share a veal cutlet with mushrooms, which was also very tasty. The place is simple, but the owner and waiters are friendly; we were even offered a complimentary amaro at the end of the evening. Affordable prices.
