15/02/2025: A very pleasant discovery of this place whose owner is the strong point of the experience. Well yes, a very well-kept, clean place located in a strategic point of Orvieto, an essential menu but also excellent off-menu items which are TOLD and you can taste it from the words. The quality of the raw materials is excellent and the wine list is truly comprehensive. I will bring back great memories and I will definitely eat there again.

21/01/2025: Very nice and well-kept restaurant in the heart of Orvieto. Kind and attentive staff. Exquisite food! An episode of “Quattro Ristoranti” by Alessandro Borghese was also filmed here!

16/02/2025: Sunday lunch. Excellent food with handmade pasta, delicious local cured meats and cheeses and delicious meat main courses. Right portions. The dessert was also excellent. Friendly and pleasant staff. Highly recommended.

15/02/2025: I found out about this restaurant through social media. The restaurant is located in an alley 10 minutes from the cathedral, and 15 minutes from the funicular, a pleasant walk to get there. We had a great meal and the waiters were super friendly and nice.

05/01/2025: Qualità del cibo molto buona, ma purtroppo i piatti non vengono spiegati bene e arrivano diversi da come descritti nel menù. Ho preso una pappa al pomodoro con mozzarella e basilico come antipasto, è arrivata una pappa al pomodoro con mozzarella e menta, l'ho mangiata ma per me che non amo la menta se lo avessi saputo non l'avrei presa. Ho ordinato un hamburger della casa con patate, così era riportato nel menù, non mi aspettavo che mi arrivasse un panino con hamburger, insalata, cipolla, formaggio,pancetta e hamburger. Nel menù era riportato solo hamburger e patete e così me lo aspettavo nel piatto. Nel dolce panettone fichi e noci con fonduta di cioccolato è arrivato il panettone fichi cosparso di zucchero a velo e al lato un cucchiaino di mousse al cioccolato.Il sapore dei piatti è ottimo ma farei più attenzione nella descrizione sul menù o fare le dovute precisazioni delle modifiche al momento dell' ordine. 18/01/2025: "Ho pranzato di recente al Malandrino bistrot e sono rimasto profondamente molto colpito sia dalla cucina molto gradevole che dal servizio molto buono. Il menu offriva una varietà di piatti sia tradizionali che innovativi, tutti di molto buona fattura e tutti presentati molto bene. Personale attento, competente e gentile. Da consigliare.

24/01/2025: The signature orso pasta, named after the store, is a tomato-based pasta that will not be liked or disliked. They also sell truffle pasta, so if it’s on the menu del giorno-tartufo (today’s menu), be sure to try it! Steaks are also perfectly cooked! It's recommended. Even if you order wine by the glass, it comes out as orvieto superior :)

12/01/2025: On a cold and windy night in Orvieto, we came across a pleasant discovery: the Trattoria dell'Orso, a welcoming refuge where the warmth of hospitality and the authentic flavors of Umbrian tradition made the evening unforgettable. Personal The staff were friendly, kind and very welcoming, creating a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere for the whole experience. Location The environment is a bit retro and dated, but still very characteristic and in line with the charm of a traditional trattoria. Dishes • First courses: The umbrichelli with wild boar and truffle and the fettuccine with mushrooms and truffle were excellent. The pasta was well cooked, the portions adequate and the sauce generous, also allowing the pleasure of the shoe. There is great attention to the quality of the ingredients. • Second: The duck breast in red wine reduction and caramelized onions was cooked to perfection. The texture of the duck was soft and well balanced by the seasoning. • Side: The potatoes were a real surprise: simply "spacey". We also recommend tasting the aromatic herbs (sage and rosemary), which add a "wow" touch to the dish. • Sweets: Here the experience was less exciting. Most of the desserts were finished, and the pistachio semifreddo turned out to be rather anonymous, a shame because dessert is important to end a meal well. I count We ordered 2 first courses, 1 second course, 1 side dish, 2 desserts and 3 glasses of wine, for a total of 80 euros. Although the price is fair for the quality of the dishes and the overall experience, if it had been 10 euros less, it would have been really great. Overall, slightly high. Conclusion Despite the unmemorable sweet ending and a somewhat high bill, Trattoria dell'Orso offers a culinary experience that we highly recommend. Thanks to the quality of the cuisine and the hospitality of the staff, it is an excellent choice for those seeking the authentic flavors of Umbria.

21/01/2025: We went for the Epiphany and unfortunately we were a little disappointed by the appetizer consisting of 5 mini canapés/polentas with pickles in the center which were not at all nice to look at, 20 euros, very gourmet tastings indeed. Let's move on to the truffle pasta, very good, 19 euros 120g, we tried to ask if it was possible to have a little more, but the owner kindly told me that they are standard quantities and he couldn't, therefore, I took two more dishes of that pasta with my wife and other friends, because we liked it, but I repeat, I don't like gourmet, so I wouldn't go back. One piece of advice, look at the starter again, because that wasn't even gourmet, cost 20 euros you have to put something more and in larger dishes. Hadrian's labyrinth very beautiful, rich in history.

04/01/2025: A simple place that makes the quality of the dishes and the kindness of the staff its strong points. Exceptional pappardelle with wild boar ragù, very tender and very tasty meat. Potatoes cooked under the ashes are a gem! Excellent prices too! The staff were friendly, kind and super helpful: they made you feel at home. Absolutely worth coming back.

05/01/2025: In the medieval center of beautiful Orvieto, near Piazza della Reppública, you will find this modern bistro. Elegant atmosphere and sophisticated decoration, with taste. Very well set tables. Quality and certain luxury. Very friendly staff, very professional, attentive, discreet. Short menu but with elaborate dishes, well presented. Good cuisine. Tasty food. Great wine list. Cold beer. Very interesting, innovative desserts. A good place to eat. Highly recommended. Prices in line with what has been described so far, but not exorbitant. We will return without hesitation.

02/01/2025: We went during lunch on January 1st without a reservation and they seated us without problems, even finding us a comfortable table since we showed up with a small child with a stroller. They provided us with a high chair and even heated up the baby's food without any problem. The menu is full of quality products and above all well cooked. During lunch there was also a musician who entertained guests with relaxing music. Definitely recommended

19/12/2024: Authentic, well-cooked dishes. The presentation of the plates was pretty, (a small tomato in the shape of a flower), we had help from the friendly owner for our choice of dishes, her husband was in the kitchen. Thank you, we have fond memories of this dinner.

02/01/2025: Prenotato telefonicamente per quattro persone e ho chiesto di poterci mettere vicino alla vetrata; richiesta accontentata una volta giunti sul posto. Siamo stati accolti dal personale in modo molto cordiale e professionale, comportamento che è stato piacevolmente tenuto per tutto il pasto. Location interna minimal ma di gusto, spiazza in positivo il panorama. Il menù è tradizionale della cucina orvietana, strizzando l’occhio alla modernità e alla ricerca di sapori e contrapposizioni particolari. Io ho ordinato un tagliere di formaggi come antipasto, spiegati uno per uno dal cameriere; come primo gli Umbrichelli al vino rosso con sbriciolata di salsiccia e spolverata di cipolla umbra, eccellenti; come secondo il coniglio ripieno, porzione due fettine, ma di qualità imbattibile; dolce la panna cotta che ricorda i sapori di Pantelleria, contrapposizione dolce e salato che mi sognerò la notte. Il tutto accompagnato da vino che sposava ogni portata, anche per il dolce, ove il sommelier ha proposito un vino adattissimo. La sensazione è di stare in un ristorante d’alta cucina per qualità e menù ma in un posto accogliente quasi come casa, con prezzi accettabili senza doverci lasciare mezzo stipendio. Un’esperienza da rifare sicuramente, per assaggiare quei piatti che mi hanno incuriosito ma che umanamente non avrei potuto mangiare ulteriormente.

15/02/2025: Nice bar in a beautiful street in Orvieto, wide choice of what to have. The only thing that made me turn up my nose, and that probably won't make me return to this place, is the fact that, passing in front of it, I saw the manager/bartender on duty (who had served me shortly before) throw a cigarette, not completely extinguished, on the ground behind him; This is not acceptable behavior for me, especially from someone who should have an interest in having the street in front of the business where he works clean. For the rest, I highly recommend it as the place is beautiful, in an excellent location and has lower prices than other bars I tried nearby.
