Trattoria dell'Orso In Orvieto

Perhaps one of the last places left in Orvieto where you can find traditional cuisine. Excellent food and equally good wines. So, ask the owner for advice and you won't go wrong.

The tartare was the best I've ever had, then the pasta with truffle was excellent, not heavy at all, the duck was by far the best dish, the wine recommendations were fantastic, Vino Tinto Nobile di Montepulgiano

We benefitted from recommendations from our host at our accommodation and gave us 4 restaurants that locals rate highly with Trattoria dell’Orso being one of them. Again, a very popular restaurant where you should book at least a day in advance. We started by sharing a special tagliatelle ai asparagi with freshly made tagliatelle and sweet asparagus in a subtle cream sauce. A very nice dish to start. I then had the stuffed pigeon, a specialty of Orvieto from medieval times where the pigeons were raised in caves on the cliff edge. The pigeon was beautifully tender and the stuffing lovely. My wife had the salted cod in a chickpea puree which was very enjoyable. We shared a tiramisu that had a custard top rather than cream - very light and airy. The only disappointment was the house Orviet Classico which was a little sharp for our taste. Overall a lovely dining experience.

A real gem in the center of Orvieto, away from the crowded streets, super welcoming, and truly excellent food. Friendly and super fast service. Thank you, thank you.

We didn't have a reservation and they still managed to accommodate us. Quick and friendly service. The truffle pasta was perfect and the tiramisu was one of the best I've ever had. Make a reservation :)

I visited after finding out about this place by chance :) I really enjoyed the Wild Boar Pasta and the Signature Tomato Pasta~~!! Thank you for your kindness, and I will come again if I get the chance.!!
