14/12/2025: Excellent aperitif, kindness, courtesy and professionalism

20/11/2025: I arrived in Monticchiello on foot from the north. It was a sunny November day and the sun was slowly approaching the horizon. The path was lined with ploughed fields in the color of Tuscan ochre. Medlars and persimmons were ripening, red rose hips glowed on the branches, and fresh acorns lay in the undergrowth. The landscape shone with the full palette of Tuscan colors. In other words, the walk from Montepulciano was enchanting, yet long enough for me to reach La Guardiola with a proper appetite. I was lucky. Many restaurants were closed off-season, but La Guardiola offered me a splendid gourmet experience. The sun was already touching the horizon over the Val d’Orcia when I ordered my first glass of Orcia DOC red wine for €5. As a starter, a delightfully light bread with lardo arrived at my table. The slice of bread was toasted, and the lardo from the Italian Cinta Senese breed was thin, transparent, delicious, enticingly glossy, and sprinkled with a generous amount of strongly aromatic rosemary, which paired surprisingly well with the fat. And now for another completely needless digression: Did you know that the word for ‘pig’ sounds similar throughout Europe? In Italian suini, in German Schwein, in Norwegian svin, in Czech svině, in Polish świnia, in Urdu swuan? My second course was Florentine tripe (Trippa alla Fiorentina). An unusual ingredient, which I had known only from the Czechia, surprised me here. It was prepared with a tomato sauce. The dish’s flavor was emblematic. Because of their texture, tripe is a very animalistic and dynamic food. My personal theory says that tripe is preferred more by men, for the same reason that sausages and salamis are more popular with women. My taste buds barely resisted the urge to order another course at La Guardiola. I wouldn’t hesitate to compare this inner battle to the year 1555. Just as the armies of Siena held their last strongholds against the advancing Florentines, but ultimately had to surrender, I too had to surrender the desire to order a third course. Night had fallen, and it was time to head back.

27/10/2025: Went here on the 18th of oct and had a great time. We were a group of 8 with a toddler. There was no room for us inside so the gentleman arranged a place for us outside. It was a bit chilly and he saw us struggle and immediately brought us some blankets. The service was great. We loved the food, was one of the highlights in terms of food for me in Pienza. Keep up the great service and quality of the food. P.S. the beef stew was 👌

24/10/2025: A nice tourist spot in the center of Pienza. The prices are slightly lower than the average in the surrounding area. The atmosphere is charming and well-kept, both inside and out, with clean and convenient restrooms. The service is friendly and fast. The food isn't bad, but it's nothing special either (we tried the walnut and pecorino ravioli and the tagliatelle with meat sauce).

25/01/2026: ​A jewel nestled in the dazzling landscape of Tuscany, Italy, I traveled to Pienza, a city steeped in the dazzling beauty of Tuscany, and experienced unforgettable local flavors. There, I sampled dishes made with traditional Tuscan "Pici" noodles. The pici noodles, with their chewy texture reminiscent of plump udon noodles, were paired with the deep, rich flavor of black truffle (Tartufo Nero), filling my mouth with the aromas of the forest. The tomato-based lasagna I ordered alongside, too, was a harmonious blend of soft, layered textures and rich sauce. Of course, the texture was a bit different from the popular pasta style I'm used to in Korea, and the unique heaviness of the dish made me feel a bit greasier. A sip of refreshing sparkling water, however, cleansed my palate and allowed me to resume my meal. The rustic yet hearty local flavors made my Pienza memories even more special. It was delicious. I recommend it.

30/10/2025: Sperone Nudo, Pienza The historic center of Pienza is very nice and pleasant to visit for a day! However, I strongly advise you to be careful when choosing a restaurant; sometimes there are bad cooks! For this Sperone Nudo restaurant, the "PARMIGIANA DI MELANZANE DELLA CHIANA" is definitely not recommended! The eggplant was so dry it was only 3 mm thick, just skin! A disgrace! My wife didn't eat it! This vegetarian dish was very bad! Definitely not recommended! A very bad experience! Quite disappointed by this restaurant; the place is certainly pretty, but despite appearances, the quality is not there! Quality that was lacking! The dishes were not good and too expensive! The portions were minimal! Strongly not recommended!!!

05/01/2026: Good place for a quick lunch or aperitivo. They don’t serve cooked dishes ‘like pasta’. Had a plate with a variety of pecorino cheese with ricotta, but that was it. Me and my husband had both the ‘vegetables’ but arrived some preserved like zucchini’s, beets and artichokes. I think their price is expensive in proportion of what we ate. All of the above, €51 with 2 glasses of wine.

30/12/2025: After a long day of traveling, we ended the day at this restaurant — and it was a hit. This is the true definition of Tuscany: on the plate, in the glass, and in the view of the breathtaking landscape. The atmosphere, food, and wine were great, and I felt exceptionally comfortable here. I definitely recommend it.

16/02/2026: Passing by, we decided to grab a quick lunch at Fidelio. As soon as we arrived, we were immediately seated at a table for four, almost ready. The food was excellent. The lasagna with ragù was delicious, as were the pappardelle with wild boar, and the wide variety of crostoni were delicious. Keita served us, a kind and attentive young man. Due to a small oversight in our order, we were offered coffee and a small token discount. For the service we received and the quality, I recommend this place and I'm sure I'll return in the future. (It's quite a long drive from Lecce.)

16/06/2025: Un posto molto semplice ma ben curato in una zona bellissima! La simpatia del gestore è incredibile… Si mangia davvero bene con porzioni abbondanti la qualita è davvero top! Meglio di molti posti rinomati della zona!

28/12/2025: A place with a charming view of Tuscany. Perfect for lunch or a late dinner. The food and the overall experience were impeccable. The small menu means it doesn't take long to choose. The service is professional and has a sense of humor. We were with a larger group, so it was a bit noisy, but it wasn't distracting enough to be considered a downside. A place worth seeing.

09/12/2025: While strolling through Pienza, after exploring its charming narrow streets on foot, we came across La Terrazza. We went in and were immediately greeted with friendliness and kindness. We didn't have a reservation, but we were seated at a table in the garden, which quickly filled with more people. For starters, we had slices of various toasted breads, accompanied by spectacular olive oil. For lunch, we ordered a mix of short pastas with pecorino and pesto and a Pici with zucchini. To accompany it, we had the Nobile di Montepulciano red wine. Cantucci con Vin Santo for dessert and an espresso to finish perfectly. We loved our lunch, under that parasol, in that beautiful garden, in the Pienza of dreams. Impeccable service, courteous attention, we highly recommend it.

11/11/2025: The decor is amazing, beautiful restaurant. We had 3 types of pasta and all of them were excellent, especially the Cacio e Pepe. A bit on the expensive side but overall a great experience.

26/10/2025: I only had lunch at the restaurant, which is one of a kind. The decor and architecture are top-notch. The food is good, but the prices are a bit high, in my opinion. The location perhaps justifies the price.

20/01/2026: Two half slices of bread with a slice of ham and a small piece of pecorino cheese passed off as a "panino" for the modest sum of 10 euros. Unspeakable. We continued our meal elsewhere.

04/01/2026: I don't usually leave reviews, but this place deserves my full attention. The staff is extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and engaging. The ingredients are top-quality! I highly recommend the pecorino cheese tastings, olive oil bread, and 15% ABV wine (sorry, I don't remember the name). Anyway, trust the truly professional and delightful staff in the dining room! Valerio is here 😂, but he might as well not be, given the expertise and friendliness of his wonderful staff! We'll be back soon, thanks for everything ☺️

05/08/2025: Pochi piatti ma molto ben cucinati, atmosfera familiare e un oste che ti fa sentire a tuo agio. Prezzi alti ma in linea con lo standard di Pienza: molto gradito il liquore finale…. ci facciamo uno Spinello? 😁 Ci tornerei anche domani!

31/07/2025: Ambiente gradevole e personale molto gentile menù molto limitato e prezzi esosi. Pici all'aglione buoni ma non abbondanti e un prezzo elevato (18 euro). Una lattina di Coca Cola 5 euro, un bicchiere di vino della casa 8 euro. Non lo consiglio nè ci tornerei.

14/12/2025: Friendly owners, free on-site parking, the property is surrounded by greenery, the room is comfortable, and the breakfast is excellent and plentiful.

07/12/2025: The place itself is very nice, but the restaurant has poor service and disorganized waiting for a plate of endless pasta. Table service needs to be reconsidered.

21/02/2026: I was walking around the area and came across some very unpleasant restaurants. High prices, unpleasant service and not the most delicious either. Until!! I got here! Lovely place! The waiter is smiling all the time. The owner invited us in. Excellent pizza! Fair price for the value! I would come back again and again and again. We got a jug of water at no extra charge. Just pleasant! Thank you
