20/07/2025: Ambiente un po' freddo. Servizio discreto. Qualità si può fare di meglio. Note negative: 1-tagliata con tartufo nel menu e di sabato sera primo servizio alle 20,30 mi dici che il tartufo non c'è. 2-prendi ordini con tablet ergo non ci dovrebbero essere errori. Al momento del del conto mi ripeti a voce tutte le portate e, ovviamente, confermo. Esco e a casa noto che lo scontrino riporta 4 calici di vino e non 2. NON VA BENE. Ci vuole più professionalità. 3-rapporto qualità prezzo non sostenibile

09/05/2025: The "new" Barrocciaia has finally reopened, with new premises and staff. Let's start with the staff, excellent in every way, good at listening to customers, they deserve all the success possible!!! The dishes, look at the photos to believe them, very good and plentiful, everything perfect. Historic and characteristic location. Ideal for groups of friends and couple dinners. I recommend it without a shadow of a doubt!!! Well done everyone!!!

21/08/2025: A welcoming place with furnishings made of small objects that bring back memories of my adolescence. The service and value for money complete the pizzeria's excellent picture.

18/08/2025: I found Lo Scalino to be a small and unusual takeout pizzeria, both for the bright colors that characterize the space and for the imposing QR Code Menu, reminiscent of Orwellian tradition, which dominates the small dining room like a large, watchful eye. The atmosphere is very interesting and the service is quite fast. The pizza, very crispy, was good compared to the usual, traditional pizzerias in the area, but not exceptional when compared to those at an iconic place in the historic center of Piombino, famous for its traditional and unique pizzas made in pans. Overall, it was a great experience, and I was very happy to try your pizza. Thank you very much. I recommend going because it's worth it and also because the prices are fair.

04/07/2025: Excellent pizza, well cooked and richly seasoned. Light and digestible dough. Good draft beer. Very good appetizers. Friendly and competent staff.

30/06/2025: It can be done better... My husband and I went in for lunch on a Monday and on the other side of the entrance door we found two young waiters: a boy and a girl. Not even a word of welcome and they immediately stopped us with "No pizza, no cooking. If you're okay with that, there are cold dishes written on the blackboard outside". Embarrassed (and aware that almost everything in the area was closed) we accepted and chose a caprese and a cutting board (ham and cheese, nothing more). We waited more than 20 minutes to have them... which seemed a bit too long given that there weren't even croutons or other ingredients. The caprese had no flavor, honestly. The cutting board: the ham was good and the pecorino was good, but a bit scarce in quantity. Everything was served with a rather cold attitude, without smiles, and we weren't even asked if everything was okay. The place has a rather careless air in its style and the music taken from the radio was a bit 'sad'. The only positive notes: the prosciutto and pecorino were very good. The owner, at the cash register, was sunny and kind.

27/06/2025: What can I say, we will definitely be back! Kind, helpful staff, and efficient service! We had a great time. We had an aperitif there several times, the drinks were excellent, with a nice list of Gins and above all not watered down like elsewhere. The location is simple without pretensions, but directly overlooking the port in the evening you can enjoy a beautiful sunset. No need to book. The prices are very fair and even without asking they bring you a nice assortment of delicacies that accompany the drinks (Any drink) without asking for any extra charge, not even the cover charge and in a tourist location that is not a given. Compliments to the gentleman who served us, I don't know his name but he is a really good person!

09/09/2025: We visited the restaurant yesterday and were totally dissatisfied. The starters were okay, but the main course was not at all. We ordered prawns and calamari. We bit into the prawns and realized they were completely off. We told the waiter, but he didn't understand and took the plate with him. He came back later and said he'd tried one in the kitchen at the back and they were all fresh and not bad. The restrooms were a complete disaster. Dirty, broken, and disgusting. If we'd seen them first, we would have left immediately. When we paid, we saw on the bill that they had also charged us twice for some food. They charged us the full price for the food the waiter took, even though we didn't eat any of it. So, this restaurant is truly not recommended!

08/09/2025: Dated place, staff not at all friendly and as far as the pizza is concerned I would say we are not there

07/09/2025: I'd been there several times before the renovation. What can I say? The location and view were beautiful. The portions were minimal...the glass of wine barely covered the bottom of the glass, but it was expensive (8 euros). I don't think I'll return, since I've been in the area several times.

04/09/2025: Sadly, I have to report that this was the worst seafood cacciucchino I've ever had! I told them I wasn't used to the flavor of their cacciucchino because they recognized I wasn't Italian. I'd never seen a seafood cacciucchino smell so foul, or mantis shrimp without even a shred of meat, or squid so old and dry. I suspected they'd left it out for days before serving it. I heard people at the next table complaining about the seafood being stale, and the waiter's attitude was okay, so I mentioned my cacciucchino as well. To my surprise, the other waiter, without even tasting my cacciucchino, told me, "We've been making this for 40 years, and everyone says it's delicious, but you say it's not." I told them it was too salty and had been cooked for too long, so the seafood was either meatless or stale. I asked if they could check in the kitchen. To my surprise, the other male waiter got even more angry and told me I was insulting them. Oh my god, I went there for dinner. My husband, kids, and I spent 140 euros for the three of us. Why would I bother with them? I was just horrified by the taste of the 25 euro seafood soup and gave my feedback. I suggest that if you're not Italian, don't go there to avoid being racially profiled!

04/07/2025: Unfortunately, the place is closed despite the information on Google Maps that it is open. There is only a sign that you can go to other locations a few kilometers away and that's it. Big disappointment.

30/07/2025: Friends recommended this place to me, but I was disappointed, first by the wine selection on the menu, then by the generally unhelpful and unfriendly service. 30/08/2025: Mediocre food, terrible service, clearly overbooked. The guy with square glasses at the register was too lazy to let us split the bill, so he forced us to calculate our own totals. Something like this had never happened to me before, truly embarrassing. The frustration of being exploited and underpaid probably doesn't help, but the staff needs to be trained.

30/08/2025: Let's start by saying that the food is good, except for the attitude of the staff who take away your plate while you're still eating. Considering the prices, they're not giving you anything away. The service definitely needs improving. It's not an assembly line, but a place where you can enjoy food in complete tranquility. 13/08/2025: Nice place, with the option to eat outside. The decor is simple, the table beautifully set. We were a group and ordered different dishes... the pizza was good, the pasta with fish sauce was well-cooked, the meat was tender, and I personally had the octopus, which was divinely cooked. The waitress who looked after us was very attentive and good at recommending, for example, the oil to pair with the octopus and the wine to try. The desserts were average. The bill was absolutely excellent.

03/09/2025: This Chinese cuisine is truly delicious! I've eaten at countless Chinese restaurants, both in China and other European countries, but this is undoubtedly the best. If it opened in China, people would definitely be lining up to eat here. If you're curious about authentic Chinese cuisine, or if you already love it, you absolutely must come. I ordered one of the most difficult Chinese dishes; if even this was this good, it means the chef knows how to make any Chinese dish to perfection. The place isn't the easiest to find, but it's definitely worth the effort. If I were to stay in this city, I'd definitely come back!

26/08/2025: We're still sitting at the table. We stopped by chance to get two pizzas, but seeing all their typical fish dishes pass by, we convinced ourselves it was the best choice for us. We had the lobster paccheri, which were truly generous and surprisingly flavorful. We couldn't help but try the fried fish and their signature swordfish Livorno-style, with a delicate yet impactful flavor. Very courteous and professional service. Kudos to all the dining room staff and to the chef who is behind all this research into the product, combined with the craftsmanship and passion for his work. Excellent culinary experience... I'd give it more stars if I could. Kudos to everyone, keep up the good work.
