05/07/2026: We've been here several times, and none of them have disappointed us. There's a huge variety of toasts, with truly unique combinations...I'll try them all sooner or later! Highly recommended.

08/06/2026: I asked for a toasted sandwich, and only later did the guy at the cashier point out that it was a salad, but out of courtesy he turned the salad into toast. When the person on the other end does everything they can to please the customer, that alone deserves recognition. And if that person is like me, who eats gluten-free and a thousand other things, even more so. We'll be back, both for the kindness and for the toasted sandwiches; they're very good.

11/06/2026: The coffee was good, but I was disappointed by the cannolo, which was almost sour and not very sweet, probably from the previous day.

07/06/2026: We've had breakfast a couple of times and the savoury pastry was always good. They serve good granita and the portions are quite generous generous. We particularly enjoyed the fragola granita :)

Forty years ago, it was the first sandwich shop to open in this area, introducing a more open gastronomic culture, one that embraced the new trends that defined the generations of that era—styles and customs that have indelibly marked the worlds of music, film, and fashion, leaving no room for restaurant dining. In our view, this historic business is one that deserves much more consideration, often even more so than its more recent counterparts. The reasons are simple: we primarily focus on the expertise, availability, and skills of our staff, elements that are the foundation of any business where customer relations are essential. The selection of top-quality products, which must never be lacking, is evident in all the dishes served, from starters like chips to pinsa (a type of pasta), and other dishes. The clean, bright, and distinctive setting creates a pleasant atmosphere and is ideal for a quiet, intimate dinner, but also perfect for small groups, with the small outdoor deck and the indoor dining room that also features a mezzanine with additional seating. We highly recommend this restaurant because there's nothing spectacular about it, and our vision always reflects simplicity, as our readers will have noticed. Although it's a simple sandwich shop, it has the experience to manage the dining room, kitchen, payments, reservations, delivery service, and all the other services of the establishment, which are always under control. This can only lead to positive results, especially considering the politeness and courtesy evident in discussions between staff and customers, which already contributed to much of our absolutely positive rating and represent a recommendation for a normal, yet perfect, experience in our beloved Acireale. 01/06/2026: Disappointment. I've always appreciated this restaurant, which in the past has stood out for the quality of its dishes and generous portions. Unfortunately, on our last visit, we noticed a marked decline from the standards we were accustomed to. The dishes were almost flavorless, likely due to less than perfect preparation. The only positive note was the raw fish, which appeared fresh and of good quality. It's natural to wonder if the chef has changed since then. We ordered two appetizers for €28 each. The first courses were double portions, while the subsequent courses were significantly smaller, about half the size. We also noticed that other customers, despite ordering just one appetizer, were receiving portions essentially identical to ours, except for the first courses. We brought this to the attention of the waiter, but his explanations were rather confusing and unconvincing. For our first courses, we chose a calamarata with eggplant, swordfish, and salted ricotta. Overall, the flavor was more reminiscent of Pasta alla Norma, with a slight aftertaste of mint; the swordfish pieces were few, hard to spot, and lacking in flavor. We also tried a skewer of four prawns in curry. The prawns had been cooked in their shells, and the curry had been spread primarily on the outer surface of the shells. Consequently, much of the seasoning was removed during the cleaning process, leaving a barely perceptible flavor. Considering the quality this restaurant has always guaranteed in the past, the experience unfortunately fell short of expectations.

19/05/2026: Let me start by saying that the place isn't exactly nice. You go there for good food. Since we don't eat meat, we looked for a place that served traditional, essentially humble, dishes. So we had the lolli with fava beans and the pasta with Aci trunzo, dishes you won't find everywhere and absolutely recommended. But the thing that kept us coming back two nights in a row was their caponata. We don't understand how they make it; it's slightly different from the others, but we've never had it this good. The woman at the tables, who I assume is the very kind owner, explains the tradition of the dishes and where the ingredients come from. I also recommend trying their fries, since we were so light on the first courses...

05/05/2026: Acireale, CT. Via Lancaster, 2. Corner of Vico dei Padri Filippini. Pizzeria-restaurant right in the city center, with a simple and functional atmosphere. We loved the pizza for its easy-to-digest dough and generous toppings; the service was quite quick and the prices were fair. A bit noisy on weekends, and the beverage offerings were basic. Our choice proved to be a reliable one.
