08/09/2025: A vintage setting with a modern twist, a retro wooden bar, cozy chairs, and a jaw-dropping array of bottles—in short, a place that truly rocks. CONTRABAR in Bisceglie is a place you must try. In the heart of the old town, amidst historic walls and modern vibes, we're in an unconventional spot that transports you to the coolest and most refined side of Puglia. The mood is a perfect blend of refined old and seductive contemporary: warm lighting and retro-inspired furnishings. Here I met Gianni Dell'Olio and Francesco Di Gioia, two bartenders with an incredible background in mixology and drink engineering; they tell you every cocktail like a story, classics, twists, homemade. Just think, in 2017, these two guys first dreamed up an appetizer drink by creating Bitter Violento, and then went on to create BASTALDO, an authentically Apulian artisanal amaro made from blood orange peel and vanilla, spices, and Moscato di Trani, all perfectly blended. I even discovered that Contrabar is among the best rum bars in Italy, branded Isla de Rum, and is considered one of the top 12 national cocktail bars by Gambero Rosso. In short, it's not just any place; here we are at the apotheosis and everything else is boring.

30/04/2025: Two stars because the environment is very nice. But slow and listless service, aperitif served with a 20 minute wait (I had to ask and there were no people) without anything to tease (at least some chips). The place looked good but it was a disappointment, we definitely won't be back. Not recommended.

08/11/2025: Terrible experience, very cramped, uncomfortable and shabby chairs, impossible to talk due to the commotion. They try to squeeze as many people in as possible. The portions are tiny, four bruschettas in a row, and the quality is questionable! The prices are outrageous; choose somewhere better! There are places where you pay half the price and they definitely treat their customers better! I don't recommend it.

15/09/2025: Authentic and delicious. The server spoke French and gave us excellent advice. The fish was fresh and well-cooked, all at very reasonable prices.

23/10/2025: We stayed at the site for three days. The owners are really friendly, and our place couldn't have been better. Unfortunately, the sanitary facilities are beyond dated. I don't think bathrooms at home get renovated every five years. But here it would be necessary. What a shame, given the location! One more thing: the sanitary facilities were clean.

16/10/2025: It was off-season, that's true. However, a little more cleanliness in the showers would have been appreciated. Hot water in the shower; electricity included. Washing machine €4. Bus stop to the city center just outside the gate. €25 per night.

31/08/2025: A very disappointing experience. Despite having a reservation, my table was assigned after over an hour of waiting. I ordered a 50cl bottle of beer as listed on the menu (€6), but was served a 33cl bottle. I immediately pointed out the error to the waiter, who replied that they only have the 33cl version, even though the menu listed the 50cl version. When it came time to get the bill, however, I was charged for two 50cl beers at €6 each. I reported the error to the cashier, but the only response was, "I'll report it to the owner," without any correction. In effect, I paid €6 for a 33cl Peroni Gran Riserva, with a clear mismatch between what was on the menu, what was served, and what was charged.

21/06/2025: Prima volta a Puglia ... scelto Ostuni per nostro 1°tappa. Pranzato in questo Osteria Pizzeria. Una Filippina ha preso nostro ordine...e indovina? Lei e la proprietaria. Sono orgoglioso di Marienne, una Filippina proprietaria di questo bellissimo ristorante. E anche buona tutto che abbiamo mangiato. Pepata di Cozze in crosta, orecchiette con broccoletti , salsiccia con insalata. Grazie x tiramisù....😋😋😋

14/06/2025: Tuvimos tantas comidas increíbles en Ostuni que si bien esto era bueno no era tan bueno como los demás. Comimos dentro, ya que las mesas exteriores estaban llenas y hacía calor.

17/10/2025: We were there on a Saturday, the food was delicious, the portions were just right, the meat was good, only one thing we forgot was the cold potatoes. The waiters were friendly even though it was a Saturday with a lot of people... We'll be back, very good.

25/10/2025: I went to this butcher/grill shop, well-known in the area for its excellent meat. I brought some friends who had learned about the place through social media. The quality of the food was excellent: good, light meat. After more than five courses, we were all full but not weighed down. A gastronomic experience I highly recommend. The service was excellent from start to finish, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The place was perfect in every way. Very kind owners, perfect food, and fair prices.

03/09/2025: I waited a few days so as not to express my opinion too quickly. I entered the place on August 15th for breakfast. I waited in line at a register with a young man, and when my turn came, he sent me to the other register, where my turn came. I waited for the guy with the beard to serve a blonde, to whom he showed kindnesses..., other people who had to pick up ice creams... and then some of his friends... finally, a good 20 minutes after my turn, he said to me: "Wait a minute..." They're here first because they have cake, ice cream, etc., etc. I was with relatives, so we left... The same guy with the beard and without the crowd a few days earlier: huffing and puffing with a very smug attitude, he served me a couple of Lecce coffees and two pasticciotti. In short, we understand that he's annoyed... or maybe he doesn't like foreigners???? I went there because I met the owner's mother, who had recommended the place to me; he's a different story. It's a shame, considering all the work involved, you get feedback like that. Terrible service. The guy with the beard is the only thing I dislike and acts like he's "the boss." Appropriate consideration.

02/11/2025: CRAZY! In Fasano for a weekend, list of grill restaurants to book, first phone call no one answered, second phone call Angelo answered: "Are you ready?" Communication was simple, homey, and welcoming. Once we sat down at the table, we just listened to Angelo telling us: "Here you'll just eat, you'll eat things you've never eaten before!" As a native of Puglia, I have to tell you that I've truly never eaten so well, authentic and unique flavors, meat that truly melted in your mouth. We ate so much. Digestion was incredibly easy, the quality was truly excellent! Super price! For the quality, I think it's low! I'll return and recommend it!! If you're looking, book now and you'll experience a CRAZY culinary journey!

19/10/2025: We were there recently, they limited the menu before it was more abundant, the hot foods were all cold and therefore inedible, and then you pay for 10 and they serve you for 6, tasteless pizza in summary we are no longer satisfied, the presence of the owner is felt and how....

30/10/2025: My partner and I went there last night. For the first time in many years, we felt bad about the new, older waiter. As soon as we walked in, my partner felt like we were being watched. Then, when he approached, he made a pass at my partner, saying something in dialect like, "We didn't quite understand, he was talking about breasts." She didn't take her eyes off him the entire evening. They should hire serious staff, not malicious people; he looked like a Bedouin. I hope the owners read the review and do something about it, otherwise we'll never set foot in the nightlife again and we'll get bad publicity.

16/08/2025: Good evening everyone. I've been to this wonderful bar, or so my friends told me. Unfortunately, as soon as we sat down, we didn't find any staff ready to serve us, resulting in an hour-long wait for a simple coffee. During the wait, amidst the shouting of the rude clientele that this bar prides itself on, we received a shard of glass broken by some rude teenagers. After almost an hour of waiting, the waitress, who we thought was underage, came over and rudely served us our coffee, forgetting to bring us sugar. Finally, after serving us, she proceeded to clear the table next to us, yelling and complaining about what the next kids had left. We were very disappointed with this bar because we've come to the conclusion that the rumors we've heard are false. Despite this, we later ordered a trio of drinks and an aperitif, and we're still waiting, a good three days after we ordered. Although we are not culinary experts, I must say that there have been occasions when we have been truly welcomed excellently, the service was impeccable and so was the order, so I love them.

12/09/2025: Authentic food, truly traditional cuisine, in an informal, family-friendly setting, with still-affordable prices. The homemade pasta with horse meat sauce is truly excellent. Everything was excellent.

12/09/2025: Traditional restaurant, just like at home, some of the waitresses speak English. The portions are very generous for a more than reasonable price. The carbonara and the "Mamma Rita" molpette are excellent!

31/10/2025: The pizza was good, but the service was poor. I arrived at 10:00 PM and had to wait over 30 minutes just to order a pizza. Shameful.

06/10/2025: Excellent pizza with a light crust. There's a wide variety of pizza toppings and a wide selection of first and second courses. The atmosphere is truly unique: you can choose to eat in two 1950s/1960s-style train carriages. Service is quite fast, and the waiters are friendly (pizza delivery could be a little quicker, but it depends on how many people there are to serve).
