30/03/2024: We stopped at the Gelateria very much by chance and absolutely enjoyed it. The staff were very friendly and there was so much of choice - some types I have never seen, along with the more traditional ones. Between the three of us, we tried 9 types and these were definitely one of the best we have had.

30/12/2023: We had been looking for a restaurant for a long time that made good polenta on Lake Maggiore, without having to go somewhere far away and in the mountains, well we found it a few days ago on Google, right in the center of the pedestrian area of ​​Verbania. Characteristic and very beautiful place, in keeping with the name of the inn, not very large, with 2 rooms and about thirty seats, it is not easy to find, although in the pedestrian center of beautiful Verbania, because it is a small street with few shops and parallel to the main, busier uphill one, but is well indicated with signs, on the right starting from the main square of the town and on Google Maps. The owner Miriam's welcome was very warm and smiling, immediately putting us at ease and describing the dishes on the menu to us with her good typical cuisine, with the 4 types of polenta, the cold cuts with local cheeses and the homemade tigelle by them, so this inn can be better defined as "Polenteria e tigelleria", apologizing for having excluded from the menu the first courses they cooked until a few months ago. My wife and I tried 2 types of polenta, the "concia" with butter and melted cheeses and the one with chopped wild boar, cooked very well and soft (for those who don't know, wild boar meat is typically very tough being a wild animal and not farmed) and the polenta, as well as being very good, is soft and cooked in such a way as to make it easy on digestion, and is served in a terracotta crock which keeps it warm and tasty. We also tasted 2 of the many homemade desserts, the fabulous tiramisu and the soft (..never tried before...) meringue with caramel, also delicious, accompanying the dishes with ¼ of a good house Barbera red wine , a liter of demineralised mineral water and 2 deca coffees, for a total of €38.50, which I consider to be an excellent quality/price ratio, given the refinement of the good basic products and the excellent light and digestible cuisine. The owner was very nice and sociable during our lunch, describing in great detail the products sought and used for each dish on the menu, highlighting the local origin and their quality, she also offered us free at the end of the meal, a good typical Sardinian liqueur, Mirto, handcrafted by the mother. Coming often to the area for our leisure throughout the year and living in a nearby but less beautiful area, we will return to taste, in addition to the other polenta offered on the menu (..with gorgonzola and truffle 😋), also the good homemade tigelle, the local cured meats and cheeses and the good homemade desserts (panna cotta, various tarts, etc.) that Miriam prepares daily, I recommend it to you too, if you come to the area and want to try something special and of quality, without spending a great figure 😉.

04/04/2024: It is the third time I have come to this restaurant, and I have always been enthusiastic...an immense quantity and variety of food, even for this last time I was there, Easter 2024, an infinite quantity of people all the time, but neither service nor food has ever been lacking... truly compliments

02/04/2024: Excessively expensive for an afternoon break. Strawberry tart was good but 7 euros per slice seems excessive. Hot chocolate was lukewarm and full of bits (with cream: €5) Tea (€3.5) was also lukewarm with little water. Courtesy at a minimum. I won't go back and I don't recommend it.

10/02/2024: Ho pranzato due volte alla Taverna del Mago e mi sono sempre trovata benissimo. Il ristorante si trova un pò fuori dal centro storico, all ingresso di Pallanza, comodissimo il parcheggio. Il menù varia sempre e ogni portata è curata nei minimi dettagli dallo chef Maurizio. Come dice il menù, i tempi di attesa sono dettati dalla pietanza, quindi niente precotto, si attende i giusti tempi e ogni piatto ha la sua unicità! Ottimi i primi e i dolci. La carta dei vini spazia da nord a sud, con prezzi nella media; vi consiglio di farvi consigliare da Maurizio la scelta giusta del vino da abbinare. Buon compromesso qualità/prezzo! Voto 10, consigliato!

15/12/2023: Prezzi eccessivi, porzioni ridotte non c'è menù cartaceo e quindi non si può sapere quanto si paga. Locale semivuoto, solo un tavolo oltre al nostro e malgrado ciò il gestore non si è preoccupato di chiederci come ci fossimo trovati. Sconsigliato.

11/04/2024: I would like to give less than one star but it's not possible. I strongly advise against this place due to the rudeness and arrogance of the pizza chef. It says 'dogs allowed' but that's not the case at all. The place was half empty, my dog ​​barked a little and the pizza guy allowed himself to complain that he was annoying the customers and that he smelled like a pig. My dog? But let's joke, how dare you? My dog ​​lives and sleeps with us in the house like a family member. When I left I asked the customers if by any chance they were annoyed and they all denied it, laughing. The pizza chef also said that dogs are not allowed in most places. First point: update kid, today there are many pet-friendly places; second point: wash your mouth before speaking badly about my dog, my dog ​​has done more education courses than you have done in school, in fact I advise you to go back to do some good manners courses; finally, know that before going to a club I always point out that I also bring the dog with me, as I did tonight too. So if the presence of the barking dog disturbs you a little, and it doesn't seem to me that the customers were playing the game of silence, remove the "dogs allowed" sign and when I call to book, refuse the reservation. Tonight for me was the worst experience I've had since having the dog. I will definitely not go back there again, and I will do everything I can to make sure everyone knows how we were treated. Count on it, my friend: you will become famous at least in Cervarezza.
