13/04/2026: We entrusted Carlo with the most important day of our lives, and we couldn't have made a better choice. From the very beginning, he proved to be reliable, attentive, and meticulous in organizing our wedding. He cares deeply about his venue, and rightly so. L'Astragalo is a magnificent place! Very well-kept, clean, and charming! Furthermore, his restaurant is one of the best in the area. We'd been there for dinner and had already tried his cuisine... and for our wedding, the food was excellent! Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the aperitif on the upper terrace overlooking the sea. A generous and varied appetizer buffet was served on the terraces below, with the sunset as our backdrop. And dinner was served in the dining room, where we found the table settings meticulously and elegantly, choosing, under his guidance, the silver-rimmed glasses and stemware, one of the theme colors of our wedding. Last but not least, the wedding cake was served on the main terrace, with candles and lights adorning the table. Plus, the venue was exclusively for our use, the best choice... our wedding was a real celebration!!! I really want to thank Carlo, the head waiter, and all the waiters, who were always smiling, discreet, and polite. Thanks to you, our guests were thrilled, and we're incredibly happy because everything couldn't have been better. Thank you, Astragalo!

01/05/2026: We returned after 3 years, still a PLEASURE 🤩 The owner is a perfect host surrounded by pleasant people. We recommend the octopus in galera alla Tiziana, which melts in your mouth, and the creamy pici cacio e pepe. Reservations recommended.

18/09/2025: The service was rather inadequate and condescending; compared to other tables, it was quite obvious that minimal effort was being made, even though only four other tables were occupied. While the food was fresh, nothing else had been done to the ingredients beyond simply frying them; they weren't seasoned, and the portions were far from filling, even when eating several courses in a row. One secondi piatti, for example, consisted of the following ingredients: a prawn, a halved squid tube, and a tablespoon-sized piece of tuna, placed on top of something that could, with considerable effort, be identified as a vegetable. Other restaurants in the immediate vicinity serve significantly larger portions of decent quality for less money.

16/05/2026: A fantastic place! Anna gave us a super welcome even though there were six of us; a lovely atmosphere and FANTASTIC homemade food for the price of an appetizer in France…. If you're in Livorno, go there, but be aware it's not very big.

15/05/2026: Fantastic place and great food. We had parmigiana, gnocchi with orata, fish and octopus for the main corse was great. Few more analcoholic drinks except coke and fanta would be nice. 😀 ok water 😉 Cool bar and butcher shop is part of this concept.

Everything seemed perfect: I received the official confirmation and even a reminder message the same day. Unfortunately, when we arrived at the restaurant, it was closed. We tried to contact the number provided, but it was either non-existent or deactivated, making it impossible to get information or assistance. The situation was extremely difficult for us: there were six of us, with two small children, in Procchio, where there were no other restaurants open that evening. A disappointing and unprofessional experience. The reservation system should be managed with greater care and reliability.

They explained every dish personally, sharing what made each one special and why they thought we’d love it. The space itself is stunning. Art installations and paintings by local artists cover the walls, making it as much a cultural experience as a culinary one. The food will surprise you in a way you won’t expect — one of those bites that takes you somewhere. The dessert was the highlight of the entire meal for me personally and something I’ll forever remember. David is in a category of its own. A permanent place in my heart. 25/03/2026: We booked at the last minute, and when we arrived, we were the only ones there. A little hesitant, we sat down and indulged in a Tuscan appetizer (a classic 1980s appetizer with pickled vegetables), a sliced ​​steak with arugula and parmesan, a squid ink risotto, spaghetti with mussels, and desserts. All very 1980s, but all delicious. I think they pair well with meat dishes. Late in the evening, the place started to fill up. The staff was friendly and helpful. We'll be back.

We went for their renowned cacciucco, but there wasn't a trace of it on the menu. We won't be returning.

Varied wine list with excellent wines. Grandma's chest of drawers is always a guarantee. I only photographed the appetizer because we then got lost in conversation and wine.

04/05/2026: Tasty, authentic Italian food. We enjoyed the lasagna and the octopus ragu pasta - which had a wonderful rich sauce. They helped us navigate to the ferry, and the service was prompt and professional. Definitely worth a visit for those travellers waiting to head over to Sardinia.
