06/07/2026: WOW! A local family owned restaurant established since 1967, was such a pleasant surprise. Our group of 11 ate here 4 out of our 7 days. We tried other restaurants in Syracuse and Avola that were OK but not mind blowing as this one. The staff works really hard and the "authentic cooking"experience was worth every euro!

09/05/2026: I've been to Zwooooo Due twice. The first time, I bought a bottle of wine – I only planned to eat half of it and enjoyed the rest the next day!
The first evening was supposed to start with mussels, but it was a bit of a linguistic tangle as I was unable to speak Italian. The maestro (Capocuoco) explained this and that to me, and I nodded politely! Then came the amazing meal!
Grilled and fried fish and seafood. See the picture! Absolutely delicious! Unfortunately, it was still chilly, as is typical for early May, and I didn't have a jacket with me! So, I brought a jacket!
On the second day – mussels!
Incredibly good (sautéed).
At my request, I also got grilled swordfish and pasta (busati or something similar) with fish!
So, I was extremely satisfied.
Another reviewer wrote: Simply furnished. I can only agree. BUT SUPER PROPER AND EXTREMELY CLEAN!!!!!

02/05/2026: Nice place, clean and well-kept. The staff at the tables and the kitchen were excellent. I had a really good meal; the bottarga was excellent, and the stuffed calamari was delicious. I'll definitely be back.

03/05/2026: I ate very badly as a Sicilian. I'm ashamed that there are 5-star restaurants that don't deserve them. The first courses were very poor in quality, and the fritto misto, not even the cat would have eaten it! I regret not having taken photos to document my experience! I paid 60 euros for what.... Shame on you.

N.B.: They'll soon be changing their name from "Perle d'Ortigia" to "Osteria Illuminata," but the chef will remain the same. Highly recommended.
18/08/2025: A simply unforgettable dinner in the heart of Ortigia! We started with a breathtaking appetizer: a fresh, flavorful, and top-quality tuna tartare, which immediately raised the bar.
Then came the fried fish: crispy, light, perfectly executed, and accompanied by a truly amazing sauce. But the real spectacle came with the first courses: the shrimp and pistachio spaghetti was an explosion of flavor with every bite—sea and land came together in an embrace that was almost touching.
And then... the sea urchin carbonara. Words are insane. A dish worthy of UNESCO World Heritage status, a unique and perfectly balanced combination that deserves every possible applause.
The staff? Simply exceptional. The chef deserves an award, and the chef's wife was exceptionally kind, always with a sincere and welcoming smile.
We left the restaurant so satisfied that we wanted to take up residence nearby, just to return more often.
An experience that goes far beyond just eating: here, you can experience a passion for cooking. Highly recommended!

17/05/2026: We just left this restaurant and I want to thank the owner for finding us a table even though we hadn't booked.
The prices were really fair considering the quantity and quality of the dishes, and they even offered a discount on the bill, a much-appreciated gesture.
The linguine with clams was delicious!

09/07/2026: The food was completely overcooked and tasteless; don't order meat or fish here, it's a total waste. The fish antipasti, however, was good. Then they brought us a different wine than the one we ordered. It cost €40 a bottle instead of €18 – a complete rip-off. The bread was also completely dry and cheap, and it was served without oil or any dips. No thanks.

The large parking lot was already completely full when I visited on Friday evening.
I had a small appetizer, a pizza, and two glasses of beer.
The pizza wasn't anything special, even though the price was on the high side. The very thin dough was quite hard and rubbery where it wasn't soggy from the toppings.
The beer tasted good, but at €6 for 50 cl, the price was, in my opinion, completely excessive.
All in all, I probably won't go there again.

02/06/2026: The four of us foodies visited the restaurant because a local had recommended it as a hidden gem… promising authentic Sicilian cuisine… we found the place packed with Americans who were clearly enjoying themselves… we got the distinct impression that the chef had apparently eaten a clown for breakfast… the names of the dishes and their combinations can only be described as bizarre… the hot dishes arrived cold and everything we ordered was completely tasteless… to top it all off, the whole thing was decorated with various pastes in neon colors… at night, the food presented a few additional challenges… far too expensive for what was offered… one star for the food is actually too generous…
02/06/2026: Absolute excellence. I've been to several restaurants in Ortigia, but this one struck me for the complexity of the dishes, the quality of the service (the best ever), and the absolutely enviable location in an oasis of absolute tranquility. The best in Ortigia for those who eat gluten-free. Thank you.

31/05/2026: I arrived at 1:30 PM and finished at 3:27 PM, eating very little and having to wait forever. About an hour passed between the first and second courses. The pasta dish was a paltry portion. For the second course, we ordered a cutlet, the smallest I've ever seen in a restaurant. Dessert arrived cut in half. They skimped on everything possible. The service was slow and unfriendly. The only decent thing was the location, which was nice.
Poor value for money.

17/06/2026: Excellent Seafood, Cocktails & Atmosphere — One Small Disappointment at the End
We absolutely loved our experience at Almyra. From the moment we arrived, the female server was exceptional. She helped us with our reservation, patiently explained the menu items, and was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable throughout the evening. The other servers were equally attentive and professional, helping create a very positive dining experience.
The food is certainly on the expensive side, but the quality justifies it. We ordered raw oysters, ceviche, and a seafood platter featuring a variety of fresh raw fish and seafood. Everything was beautifully presented and delicious.
The standout surprise of the evening was the mojito. I've had mojitos throughout the Caribbean, and this was genuinely one of the best I've ever tasted.
The location is also fantastic, right on the harbor with beautiful outdoor seating and a stylish, well-designed atmosphere. The overall vibe was relaxed, welcoming, and enjoyable.
The only reason I'm not giving a full 5-star experience is what happened at the end. The woman in the black dress who handled our payment was noticeably cold and unfriendly. After such warm and professional service from the rest of the staff, it felt out of place. There was no smile, no thank you, no goodbye, and no sense that our business was appreciated. It left us ending an otherwise wonderful evening on a slightly disappointing note.
That said, we would absolutely return for the food, cocktails, location, and excellent service from the rest of the team.
09/06/2026: Our first dinner at this restaurant, upon arrival in Sicily, was magical: the restaurant and its spacious terrace overlook a charming little harbor, allowing us to enjoy the fresh, tranquil atmosphere. We let the waiters guide our selection of dishes and found ourselves savoring elaborate Sicilian specialties. The dishes were beautiful and delicious, everything perfect! The wine list is extensive, with a special mention for the Catarratto Kelbi (Cantina Pellegrino), a true delight! The final bill was in keeping with the location and the offerings, no surprises. Definitely worth a try.
