08/10/2025: We don't understand how this restaurant even operates. Our Uber driver recommended Antica, but it was the worst place we've ever been. The service was utterly incompetent – ​​no greeting, no smile, the waiter didn't even try to pretend he was interested. He bought us wine as if he were doing us a favor, dropped off the bill, and didn't say a word. The food was equally poor – the pizza was overly salty and greasy, the dough hadn't risen, the oysters tasteless. Dirty glasses, uncleaned tables. At the end, a scene straight out of a bad movie – the manager yells at the waiter in front of a customer at the register. Disaster. Never again Antica.

I've tried appetizers, first courses, spritzes, and sandwiches, and I can say it's all fantastic. The cuisine has a gourmet touch that makes every dish special. The shrimp sandwiches are fantastic, and the tuna caponata is truly excellent: balanced, fresh flavors, and meticulous attention to detail. 04/09/2025: The paccheri and swordfish portion was for children, and the prices were high. The quality was below average, and there are better options in the area. We waited 45 minutes before my partner ate, and then the pasta arrived 5 minutes later! Service worth checking.

But at this point, a shout-out to the team, who were friendly and helpful, and so generous in helping an animal in need without any fuss or red tape. Hats off to such human greatness. 24/10/2025: A high-end pizzeria that won't disappoint those willing to spend a little more. Thin, easily digestible dough, excellent toppings (the mozzarella, mushrooms, and passata were all good, but it's a shame about the prosciutto, which was decidedly too salty). I didn't drink wine (never with pizza), but the wine list is extensive and varied. The dessert menu was presented without prices (and then a bit steep on the bill), and ultimately, the finish couldn't compare to the excellent pizzas that preceded them (I've had better almond parfaits, and the Sicilian treasure chest was a scoop of almond gelato with a faint hint of pistachio and practically no orange). Enchanting location, excellent service. The overall rating I see now (4.2) is also what I would give if I could give decimals. It wasn't my first visit, and I'll definitely be back.

07/06/2025: Arrivati per caso in questa trattoria perché eravamo di strada e affamati. Ci accoglie il proprietario chiedendo se sappiamo come funziona questo locale. Alla nostra risposta negativa ci è stato spiegato tutto ma la sorpresa è stata quando è cominciata ad arrivare una quantità industriale di antipasti. Tutto pesce,cotto,crudo,fritto...una meraviglia! Terminati gli antipasti non siamo stati in grado di mangiare altro. Abbiamo concluso con un buon sorbetto al mandarino. Qualità ottima e gentilezza da apprezzare. Grazie!

06/09/2025: We could have had a great evening! The setting is pleasant with a sea view, and the tables are well-arranged on a comfortable terrace. The service? We felt like we were intruding from the aperitif to dessert. So, the language barrier, fine. But not a word during the entire meal. Not a smile; we felt uncomfortable. It's a shame. We won't be going back, despite the meal being quite good.

17/09/2025: I can't understand some of the negative reviews here. The pizza was truly excellent. My standards for pizza are quite high, and they were more than met here. Yes, the prices are a bit above average, but that's completely understandable given the high-quality, local ingredients. In addition to classic versions, there are also exciting creations, for example, with smoked cheese or fish! The desserts were also a highlight: The orange cream and the dark chocolate tartufo were simply divine. The service was attentive, friendly, and quick. Add to that the great atmosphere right on the water with a view of the square – an all-round delight!

06/10/2025: Eating on a terrace sheltered from the wind by the harbor: a dream come true. Enjoying delicious fresh fish simply grilled after choosing one from among many others. A great restaurant not to be missed!

01/10/2025: La Grotta – the food was, of course, very good. Surprising – despite the name – was the ambiance inside, beneath the giant lava boulder. Also surprising: you place your order at the fish counter right when you enter => the freshest fish. And we've never before received a whole bag full of delicious rolls, like coperto bread. Naturally, very fresh and delicious. Overall, a special experience, also due to the restaurant's location.

29/06/2025: Egoístamente no quiero correr la voz sobre este restaurante demasiado ampliamente porque tiene que ser una de las joyas culinarias de Catania. Las repetidas visitas han confirmado que Luciano y su hijo Piero saben exactamente lo que están haciendo para proporcionar mariscos frescos, pasta excelente y cualquier tipo de entradas a una clientela en gran medida local. La relación calidad-precio es excepcional, desde la comida hasta la bebida, y hay una carta de vinos decente. Es evidente que se trata de un restaurante de barrio, y aunque ese barrio –cerca de la estación de tren– podría no parecer demasiado salubre, sería negligente no comer aquí. Catania tiene tantos buenos lugares para comer, pero aun así esto es un punto destacado.

18/05/2025: La comida es realmente genial, el antipasto de marisco para compartir es muy fresco y abundante, el espagueti vongole es muy sabroso y las almejas son grandes. La casa se levantó del barril complementó muy bien los platos locales. También ofrecieron un licor complementario y galletas para bañarse para terminar el banquete. Totalmente feliz experiencia.
