12/11/2025: Hospitality: ★★★ Ambience: ★★★★ Service: ★★ Dishes: ★★ Price: ★★★ A historic restaurant in Milan, "Da Gaspare" is one of the city's long-standing seafood institutions. Renovated and brightened, it retains the elegant charm of tradition, but has lost some of its natural pace. Friendly but brisk service: appetizers are all served at once in an "all-you-can-eat" atmosphere that takes the breath away. The fish is fresh, without a doubt, but with ups and downs—excellent carpaccio and scampi, tuna tartare too thick, octopus modest and decorated more to fill than to delight. The millefeuille is good, but the tiramisu prepared in the dining room with custard instead of mascarpone is unforgivable: a heartbreak for those who love tradition. The bill (€271 for two) is in line with the price range, but it leaves the feeling of a missed opportunity. It's a refined restaurant, but this time—with regret—we didn't leave a tip.

12/08/2025: Pizzeria San Martino, a few steps from my house and somewhat hidden, is nevertheless well-known in the area. In the first two or three years after opening, it stood out for its attention to every detail: a tidy place, impeccable service, and consistently excellent pizza. After a few years, the quality of the pizza has remained extremely high—truly among the best—as has the service and the welcoming, pleasant atmosphere inside. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the outdoor area. During nights and on days when it's closed, the terrace becomes a place of passage and rest for people who leave it in a shabby condition, significantly degrading its overall image. This unfortunately takes away from the place's charm, to the point that, even when it reopens at the end of the summer, those who pass by during these weeks are unlikely to have a good impression. My advice is to consider permanently removing the terrace and replacing it with a well-kept and striking entrance: two tall, elegant candles, or two slender, well-kept flowerpots, perhaps with a nice rug at the entrance. The interior of the restaurant is very nice, but the current exterior risks putting off customers. It would be a shame not to take action, given the excellent quality of the cuisine.

14/10/2025: CROOK!!!!! I booked a hotel room and received an email confirmation. I booked with a credit card. But no one was there. The phone never answered. I waited... but nothing!! Luckily, I managed to get a hotel room in Iseo late. I'm going to report this to the Guarda di Finanza!

25/10/2025: I've been to this place and can't say enough about the service. I was disappointed with the carbonara, which was made with pancetta and wasn't the real carbonara I expected! The draft beer isn't good. The other thing I noticed was that the grated cheese was uncovered in the hallway before the bathroom. I think they need to be more careful about food storage.

10/11/2025: A terrible experience, one to forget!!!! I booked a table for two on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, making sure, as stated on their website, they made gluten-free pizza. Of course, they said yes. I called back on Thursday, November 6, 2025, asking if they could add two more people because a couple of friends of mine, also interested in gluten-free pizza, had joined me. So, I requested a table for four on Saturday, November 8, 2025, and I asked them to reconfirm that they made gluten-free pizza. Of course, they said yes. I was told over the phone that they had two shifts, the first at 7:30 PM and the second at 9:00 PM. I booked for the first shift. I drove 30 km to get there. When we arrived, we sat down and immediately ordered the gluten-free pizza. I was immediately told they had run out. Regardless of the fact that I booked several days in advance, this inconvenience shouldn't have happened. In any case, I booked for the first serving, so I struggle to understand how they could have run out of gluten-free dough. It was embarrassing; my friends and I drove 30 km to be told they didn't have gluten-free dough. I was incredibly pissed off because something like this can't and shouldn't happen. This is pure disrespect for the customer, and it's also cunning; perhaps they were hoping I'd choose the second course so I'd spend more. Obviously, we left because we couldn't accept this situation. The thing I should have done was call the Guardia di Finanza and have them check when they'd run out of gluten-free dough, because let's face it, this definitely feels like a customer scam. This situation, however, won't end here, because I assure you they will pay for the bad impression I made with my friends, the 30 km there and 30 km back, and the total lack of respect for the customer. I'm already taking steps to do so. They didn't even try to make amends in any way; they simply said, after I got angry, that I was right, in a very superficial and almost sarcastic manner. In any case, avoid this restaurant because people like this don't deserve anything. I'm not giving zero stars because it's just not possible. Massimiliano

15/11/2025: We had pizzas, which I have to say were decent, but the acoustics in the room downstairs needed a major overhaul...⬇️, and the staff were rude and unhelpful. All things considered, I definitely wouldn't go back!

30/11/2025: What can I say... Mantuan culinary excellence within everyone's reach! I even found half of it on Google Maps by typing pumpkin tortelli! A historic restaurant in the center of Mantua. Passion, combined with quality and courtesy, make this location a place to meet and share. An atmosphere that makes you feel at home. Anyone visiting Mantua and its historic beauties is obliged to pamper their palate here. We will definitely return; a place that will remain in our hearts.
