14/09/2025: Couple's dinner, we waited about 20 minutes to receive a menu, and another 40 minutes to order, excellent food and friendly staff but the organization absolutely needs to be reviewed, because you can't wait about 1 hour and 20 minutes from arrival to the first bite.

22/08/2025: On our way back from Paola, we decided to try this restaurant in the ancient village of Belmonte. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We took the chef up on a suggestion, and he prepared an excellent pacchero with amberjack. The price was perhaps a little steep...but you pay for quality food.
18/08/2025: I dined at Taverna Intru u Vicu with a group of friends. Let me start by saying that the location is stunning: both the terrace and the alleyway will surely provide guests with an unforgettable experience. The service was kind and friendly, without being intrusive, and the owner and waiter made us feel at home. The house wine, served during dinner, was also excellent. As for the menu, the owner's innovation was much appreciated. No dish was banal, and the flavors were well-balanced. The tuna on tomato steak and the pickled tuna (€16-18) are definitely worth trying as appetizers. I personally ordered the mixed fried fish (€22), which was good, fresh, and crispy, but perhaps a bit small for a main course. In conclusion, absolutely recommended for those looking for an unconventional dinner in an excellent location. For eight of us, with four appetizers, eight courses, wine, drinks, and two shared desserts, we spent about €50 each.

13/10/2025: Pizzeria Il Capriccio di Diamante is located right in the center of Diamante. It doesn't have its own parking lot, so you have to leave your car on the street, and finding a spot can sometimes be a bit tricky depending on the time of year. That said, the pizza was truly special, excellent and soft, definitely the best in Diamante. The only downside was the wait time, as we waited over 30 minutes. The staff was friendly and helpful.

29/10/2025: I don't often write restaurant reviews, but we had the best meal of our holiday here – almost fine dining, and at very reasonable prices. The historic building is truly a gem among Scilla's already beautiful architecture, and dining on the airy terrace overlooking the sea is particularly lovely. But what really made the evening special was the incredibly warm and welcoming sommelier, who guided us through the evening with charm and humor and clearly knows his stuff – even if you only order a single wine by the glass! Thank you for a wonderful last evening in Calabria. We'll be back!
24/10/2025: On our walk through the beautiful Chianalea neighborhood, we discovered this restaurant. It can be a bit annoying to climb a long staircase to reach the wonderful terrace overlooking the sea, but the effort is worth it because the views from there are magnificent. The entire restaurant is tastefully decorated. This carefully curated setting helped us achieve a very high level of gastronomic pleasure. We found the swordfish steaks to be very well seasoned and full of flavor. The tomato and burrata salad was a perfect accompaniment. The tomatoes tasted real, which is hard to find. Pizzo's truffle was perfectly cooked: we thought it was delicious. We paired the meal with a very smooth Greco Calabrian white wine. Both the maitre d' and the rest of the staff were impeccable in their work.

21/10/2025: I returned to my hometown, Crotone, for a weekend getaway, longing to enjoy good seafood in an authentic setting. After reading several reviews, I chose Piper, and I must say it was a perfect choice. As soon as we entered, Enzo, the host, welcomed us with that typical Crotone warmth that makes you feel instantly at home. The pasta is strictly handmade, and the menu varies depending on the day: a true guarantee of freshness. That day, they offered covatelli, a typical Crotone pasta, masterfully prepared with seafood sauce. A dish worth the visit alone. We started with a mixed seafood appetizer, rich in goodness and authentic flavors. I even tried anchovies, which I don't usually eat, but I really appreciated them there. Of course, we couldn't miss the "vrasciole" Crotonese, classic fried meatballs: both eggplant and meat, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. All washed down with an excellent rosé from the Cirò Marina area, a house wine of great quality. We enjoyed it so much that we returned in the evening: my son (15 months) immediately had access to the high chair and felt completely at ease. He again asked for the covatelli, this time with a simple sauce, while my wife and I chose two very fresh sea bass, cooked to perfection: soft, delicate, without excessive salt, a sign of careful and respectful preparation of the fish. For appetizers, this time, we opted for local cheeses and cured meats, which were also excellent. The prices are fair and proportionate to the quality of the products and the generous portions: not too high or too low, just right. Unfortunately, I return to Crotone less and less often, but of one thing I am certain: Piper will be my regular stop every time I return. 25/09/2025: The location is cute, clean, and very tidy, with both indoor and outdoor tables. We chose the outdoor area, which was a great idea because it's surrounded by a green garden with nautical decorations, a combination we really liked. We weren't very hungry, so we went straight to the main course. The swordfish rolls were really good, with a delicate flavor, very pleasant and refined. The mixed fried fish, consisting of mixed seafood, shrimp, and red sole, coated in a very thin batter, was also crispy and very fresh. The staff were friendly, it wasn't crowded or noisy, and the music was soft and pleasant. For two main courses, a water, a coffee, and a cover charge, we paid less than €50. Since the restaurant is located on a small, fairly narrow street, I recommend parking on the main road, where there is free parking.
24/09/2025: For us, it's always been a constant. In the cool, quiet garden, unpretentious cuisine, yet deliciously rich and made with excellent local produce, can complement any friendly, often family, conversation, because ultimately, you also feel like a guest of a friendly and welcoming family. The service is discreet, precise, and punctual.

21/11/2025: I visited Tropea at the end of this summer, a city that's always beautiful and very popular. I chose this restaurant because it's the only one in town that's a member of the Italian Celiac Association (AIC), a key aspect for me. The location is central, though slightly away from the touristy pedestrian area. The interior is pleasant and modern. Reservations are strongly recommended. I arrived with a group of 12. The table was ready, but two chairs were missing, so we stood and waited for them to be brought. We then waited another 31 minutes before anyone came to take our order. During the service, some issues arose: a bread basket was passed over the plate of the only celiac diner. I brought this to the attention of the restaurant manager, but she didn't seem to understand the seriousness of the situation. It was surprising to have to explain such a clear risk of contamination, especially in an AIC-accredited restaurant. It should be added that the gluten-free menu carries a surcharge, despite the prices already not being particularly cheap. And unfortunately, it didn't end there: one of my guests' entire order was forgotten, and the dish arrived about twenty minutes late... and incomplete, to boot. The place wasn't particularly crowded, so it's hard to justify such imprecise service. It's a real shame, because the food is good, and the robot waiter, while interesting to watch, doesn't make up for the staff's shortcomings. Above-average prices demand adequate service. And gluten contamination is no joke. ______________________________________________ Update after the owner's response: ______________________________________________ Thank you for your time, although I find the tone adopted by a place that claims to be competent in the AIC field surprising. I'll clarify a few points. Reservation and table We didn't arrive "at very short notice": we had booked well in advance, as is normal for a group of 12 people with a celiac. The table for 10 had been set for 12, but there were no chairs: a simple fact. If you believe that limited space increases the risk of contamination, it would have been more professional to suggest two tables. Such a professional suggestion would have been more in keeping with the image of a safe and attentive establishment. Wait and Forgotten Order The establishment wasn't packed. The 31-minute wait for the order and the forgotten dish (which later arrived incomplete) remain objective facts. Your reconstruction is unfounded! Attacking the customer instead of acknowledging a mistake is neither a sign of competence nor wisdom. Gluten Contamination My complaint follows AIC guidelines: dishes containing gluten should not be passed over those intended for a celiac. The comments you attribute to me—about celiacs who should eat alone or couples who should sleep in separate beds—are embarrassing and misplaced trivializations, inconsistent with the image of a caring establishment. I say this with respect, but I express my disapproval. Review Timing and Constructive Spirit I wrote this review after two and a half months precisely to reflect and offer constructive feedback. Criticism, when based on facts, helps improve; arrogance and sarcasm do not. If I didn't respect your commitment—the food and the service—I wouldn't have taken the time to write such a detailed review. My review wasn't offensive, and 11 other witnesses can confirm what happened. The tone of your reply—a mixture of sarcasm and emoticons—doesn't do the restaurant justice, and that's a shame, because the food is good. Sometimes it's enough to acknowledge a mistake and, above all, show a willingness to improve. Best regards!
