19/09/2025: Tasty but overpriced food in an unfortunate setting. You're sitting on top of a main avenue and the noise/exhaust from constant traffic (mostly motorcycels, and buses) makes eating here a literal headache. Small portions and a 4 euro cover per person make this an terrible value despite the quality of the food.

07/10/2025: Really good pizza, excellent quality, perfectly cooked. It's a Roman-style pizza dough.

03/10/2025: We visited Pizzeria Da Salvo several times during our vacation, both for lunch and dinner, and we always had a great time! The beer (including the gluten-free one) and the Spritz are excellent. The pizza is delicious, both the classic and gluten-free versions: light and easy to digest. We also tried the parmigiana with chopped pistachios and dried fruit: spectacular! The panelle were also delicious. The staff is extremely friendly; the waitress was always smiling and helpful, and the owner was also very friendly. A plus is definitely the attention to those with intolerances; gluten-free options are always available, even the bread. Highly recommended; we'll definitely be back!

13/10/2025: The food was quite tasty and the service was very friendly. We ordered fish soup and swordfish, both were good and beautifully presented. My only complaint was the greenish tomatoes in the salad. I thought ripe, juicy tomatoes weren't exactly in short supply in Sicily in October.

12/10/2025: Very nice place. Nice atmosphere, good service. Pizzas are not the Neapolitan type but still fresh and tasty. The bouiabese was good and had a generous amount of seafood. Lasagna was also good. The canolo is great, gelato was ok, not more. Overall a nice place to dine, not expensive and we enjoyed our late lunch.

29/06/2025: Egoístamente no quiero correr la voz sobre este restaurante demasiado ampliamente porque tiene que ser una de las joyas culinarias de Catania. Las repetidas visitas han confirmado que Luciano y su hijo Piero saben exactamente lo que están haciendo para proporcionar mariscos frescos, pasta excelente y cualquier tipo de entradas a una clientela en gran medida local. La relación calidad-precio es excepcional, desde la comida hasta la bebida, y hay una carta de vinos decente. Es evidente que se trata de un restaurante de barrio, y aunque ese barrio –cerca de la estación de tren– podría no parecer demasiado salubre, sería negligente no comer aquí. Catania tiene tantos buenos lugares para comer, pero aun así esto es un punto destacado.

18/05/2025: La comida es realmente genial, el antipasto de marisco para compartir es muy fresco y abundante, el espagueti vongole es muy sabroso y las almejas son grandes. La casa se levantó del barril complementó muy bien los platos locales. También ofrecieron un licor complementario y galletas para bañarse para terminar el banquete. Totalmente feliz experiencia.

15/10/2025: Fantastic sea food restaurant! The food and wine here were delicious - every dish was was thought-through without overthinking, original and experimental without overdoing it. Every ingredient made sense and the flavours were amazing! We were served delicious bread along with our dishes which we used to sweep up the last bit of sauce on our plates. Sitting at the "chef's table" we could watch the magic being done right in front of us. The only weak point was the service which seemed a bit overwhelmed - it wasn't always possible to get their attention. If we ever come to Palermo again, we will definitely come back!

14/10/2025: Suck the brain. A bold motto - as is the tasting menu. Unfortunately, bold does not mean good in this case. The menu started off with a small fried triangle that contained burning hot oil to burn your entire mouth. Taste was fish/prawn - alright. Off to a good start. Next up were raw prawns with an oyster mayonnaise that didn't taste like oyster at all. Actually quite good but more focus on the prawns would've been great. Next we had to "suck the brain". The question is: Why? Just putting two severed prawn heads on a plate and telling us to suck it is just low effort. There was no special taste, smart modification or even spice on it. Just cooked heads. This is their statement dish and it just doesn't make sense. The mackerel with tuna was good although the oregano sauce was tasteless and thin. Then it got worse. Pasta with cocoa sauce, a slimy piece of prawn (intestines?) and a few pieces of lobster. Terrible dish. Unbalanced, way too rich. It is not fun to eat and it tastes outright bad. I get the idea but the execution is just not right. The pasta itself was on point though. Next up squid. The 100% guarantee of sea-based food didn't matter anymore apparently. Chicken jus and sweetbread. This dish was pure fat and two of us couldn't finish it because it was so rich. Even the mushrooms tasted just like fat. Again, not enjoyable at all. The fish of the day was more mackerel and it came with sardella and raisins. The sauce tasted like the cocoa sauce from the earlier dish again and didn't harmonize with the fish at all. Bitter, unpleasant. Then we were served some blueberry(?) sorbet with olive oil and capers. We got no explanation what it is (even though we asked, they just left). The sorbet wasn't sweet and adding the capers made no sense. It was neither good nor enjoyable. The highlight of the menu was the dessert. Not only because you're finally done with tasting the menu but because it's actually good. Buttery, sweet, smooth with a nice crunch. The staff was unmotivated, unfriendly and most of all absent. We weren't served any drinks for well over an hour. They just put the plates on our table, read the dish name and left immediately without any explanation of what we were served and what the chef wants us to experience. At least we got more cutlery for every dish than we could ever use (two forks and a knife for the pasta?). The wine recommendation was a frizzante which was fine. Overall I recommend staying away from this restaurant and go find another one. Palermo has so much more to offer.

27/09/2025: A wonderful experience in a welcoming and quiet atmosphere. The staff were extremely kind and friendly, and the food was delicious and fresh, featuring the catch of the day. Definitely worth repeating. I highly recommend it.

09/09/2025: The pizza is amazing!!! I highly recommend it. Communication is in Italian only. Opens at 7:30 PM, although Google says it opens at 5:00 PM.

22/09/2025: A great place to enjoy refined dishes. Because here we are more in a gourmet restaurant. I tasted their squid and I have never experienced such a flavor with perfect cooking. The tiramisu is surprising and sketchy!

14/09/2025: Good dinner. Simple appetizers, perhaps not too generous, but good. I tried the Angus beef burger, very juicy, good potatoes, perfect if it weren't for the complete lack of bread. The pizza was also very good; I tried both the calzone and the pizza and they didn't disappoint, crispy crust and soft interior. Reasonably good service. Very soft atmosphere, with dim but not overly so lighting, very welcoming, and a lovely outdoor terrace. Aside from the total inaccessibility for the disabled, the only flaw in the interior dining room is that if you sit at the table in the center of the room, you're doomed to freeze alive. The air conditioning is blasting full blast, and you have no way to turn it off, lower it, or move it; a plexiglass screen would be enough to divert the airflow. A real shame because it doesn't allow you to enjoy the good food. Prices are average. Overall, the place is recommended, and the food was all good and of good quality.

22/09/2025: The place is very quaint and cute, the staff are very kind and helpful. The service is very fast, and it's a shame that when I went there wasn't much choice, but I was very pleased with the quality of the ingredients and the precision in the cooking.
