I called to reserve a table on a hot summer evening, and was told there was no room outside, but inside. I asked if there was air conditioning, and was told yes (too bad the micro-split in a room of at least 90 square meters with the doors open probably wouldn't even have been enough to cool my bathroom!). The result was a sweat bath that lasted almost two hours. Yes, because at least an hour passes between when you sit down and when the first course arrives. The waiter who comes to take your order is a "Slavic gang leader" type: powerful arms covered in tattoos, a Slavic gang leader haircut, shaved at the bottom, longer on top, and the inevitable ponytail, earrings, bracelets, and maybe piercings (I was a bit afraid of him, so I didn't look at him for long). He asks you brusquely what you want, and you get the impression he's asking you what your last wish is before being executed. After exactly an hour, your food arrives—mediocre, I've already forgotten about it. You say nothing and don't order anything else for fear of the muscular guy. Then you go to the hostess at the cash register (of pre-Merlinian memory), where you pay a bill, high or low, which still sounds awful given the heat you've endured and the jitters you felt when the Balkan boss wrote your last wish in his notebook. Terrible atmosphere, terrible service, mediocre food, and the price is still wrong. To be avoided.

14/10/2025: Sat outside the restaurant for lunch. No problem getting seated or service. Menu on the outside wall. I had rabbit, a favorite dish, I have not found it on other menus. If you love garlic, this is your place.
27/09/2025: Excellent meals served with good quality/price. We loved the rabbit with its light perfumed sauce and the " pansoti in salsa noce ( eggs fresh pasta stuffed with vegetables with nut sauce ) are the best vegetable raviolis I ever ate (used to the delicious fresh raviolis from Nice)

14/10/2025: Simply exceptional. "Pizzeria Reale" offers a culinary experience that exceeds expectations.
The atmosphere is elegant and welcoming. Impeccable service: attentive, professional, and discreet. The cuisine is the real highlight. I tried the gnocchi with pesto, and it was a symphony of flavors, with the freshest ingredients and artistic presentation. The chef demonstrates talent and creativity.
Every detail is taken care of.
A must-try! Five well-deserved stars.
14/10/2025: A regular stop in Genoa, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the food excellent, and the tiramisu liqueur deserves an honorable mention!

08/07/2025: Everything was great in Draft Pub ! It checks all the boxes.
We were welcomed with a big smile, seated right away … the waiter took our order and the food arrived very quickly and well hot !
Maaaaaan the food was amaaaazing … I took Fish and Chips and my wife gnocchi pesto. It was so good that I took another plate, that arrived as quickly as the first !
Thanks to everyone in the Pub we had a great moment and for sure I’ll come back 🙏

Simply disgusting. It was just various types of pure alcohol...
No juices, syrups, or anything like that.
The bartender probably just looked at the menu to see what ingredients were in it and randomly poured them into the glass.
You pay €8 for about 100ml.
Simply extortionate...

25/08/2025: Dining at this restaurant was truly a pleasant surprise. The service was perfect: the owner was extremely kind and professional. The traditional Genoese dishes were well-prepared. Highly recommended.
20/08/2025: A rather dated restaurant that needs modernizing, as it's truly unwelcoming: we went on August 19th for lunch, and all the outdoor tables were piled up as if the place were closed, and there were still Christmas baubles on the shelves in the dining room. Even the owner seems fed up with this job: you can tell by the way he runs the business.
The menus are old, dirty, and worn; the bar counter and the cash register at the entrance are a complete mess, even when I was there and the only customer. The water served at the table is bottled glass, filled by the restaurant, but from the taste, you'd think the filters hadn't been replaced in years.
The food somewhat salvages the overall negative rating, serving decent dishes, though clearly 1980s-inspired.
We ordered two appetizers recommended by the host: the dish of the day, octopus carpaccio on a bed of potatoes, and the "mosciame di tonno," a carpaccio of tuna steak preserved in salt, the old Ligurian way. The dishes were good, even if they were arranged in the same way, with the unusual final sprinkling of parsley.
Then we ordered two first courses, which didn't convince us at all: spaghetti with clams and bottarga, which had a dark gray sauce on the bottom, with a rather bland flavor; and linguine with swordfish and arugula, where, however, the arugula was completely forgotten, with the usual gray sauce on the bottom of the plate.
But what disappointed me most was discovering that the house white wine was "Marche" and not "Ligurian," truly embarrassing.

21/08/2025: What can I say... a wonderful experience!
We chose this place for my birthday dinner.
Every detail was taken care of, from the table settings to the service, which was attentive and friendly, but not intrusive.
The dishes were all excellent, and we were pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail and the execution of a small birthday cake.
They were happy to accommodate every request (even to prepare a risotto for just one person).
The location and the view were a real plus.
Highly recommended.
03/08/2025: A huge disappointment. The menu, priced between €135 and €180 per person, suggests a true gastronomic experience—unfortunately, this isn't the case. If you have a minimally discerning palate, you'll quickly realize that everything here is about appearances without delivering the quality behind it. The flavor combinations are often shaky, lacking in finesse, and sometimes downright bad. It's a far cry from what you'd expect from an establishment billed as gourmet. The first small restaurant in the area does much better, for a fraction of the price. None of the dishes stood out, and some were bordering on boring, even subpar.
The service, however, was adequate—professional without being exceptional.
In short, avoid.

We were very well received despite the menu support which could do with a rework, we choose from a plastic card and a little too much chocolate powder on the tiramisu! The experience is nevertheless recommended

14/07/2025: Situato in una stradina parallela al budello principale di Cogoleto questo ristorante, dall’esterno, non vi colpirà particolarmente con insegne luminescenti o cartelli pubblicitari ma, appena entrati, vi sentirete un po’ come a casa vostra. Non posso non partire dalla signora Ada, la vera storia di questo locale. Ci accoglie come fossimo degli abituè, amici di famiglia, vicini di casa. Ed è proprio così che ci si sente dopo qualche minuto passato insieme. La spiegazione dettagliata del menù non è la solita tiritera di piatti, ingredienti o elenco di materie prime … ogni piatto ci viene descritto insieme alla sua storia, i suoi aneddoti, la ricetta, il modo di come la signora Ada (o semplicemente Ada come lei vuole essere chiamata) lo cucina a casa sua. Questa accoglienza, così diversa da qualsiasi posto che ho frequentato in tutti questi anni, mi ha fatto innamorare di questo posto prima ancora di assaggiare una qualsiasi pietanza e ho già, sorprendentemente, l’acquolina in bocca.
Siamo in quattro e ognuno di noi prende uno starter diverso. Il guazzetto di muscoli (cozze per i non Liguri), il Cenonno composto da una serie di piattini con assaggi mare e monti, caldi o freddi, polpo e patate, mentre io scelgo il piatto che avevo già visto sul loro sito web: code di gamberi avvolti nel lardo d’Arnad con stracciatella di burrata, semplicemente spaziali, cotti alla perfezione, con materie prime di altissima qualità, sono entrati di prepotenza nella mia personalissima top 10 di piatti più buoni mangiati nella mia vita !
Qui Ada, ci grazia della ricetta “casalinga” di questo piatto, semplicissima, rapidissima ma con ingredienti che devono essere necessariamente di ottima qualità !
Proseguiamo questa esperienza culinaria eccezionale, con i ravioli di burrata con pomodorini, basilico e acciughe di Cetara, delicatissimi, preparati alla perfezione e cotti al dente come piacciono a me.
Finiamo con la “Tavolozza di dolci” tutti provenienti dalla Campania e Sicilia, uno più buono dell’altro. Io però ho scelto la delizia al limone tutta per me e ho fatto bene in quanto era veramente troppo golosa per condividerla con qualcuno.
Di una cosa sono convinto adesso, il ristorante Nonno Cuoco è sicuramente la mia prima scelta a Cogoleto.
13/07/2025: Located on a narrow street parallel to the main street of Cogoleto, this restaurant may not particularly impress you from the outside with its neon signs or advertising, but as soon as you enter, you'll feel a little at home. I can't help but start with Signora Ada, the true story of this place. She welcomes us as if we were regulars, family friends, neighbors. And that's exactly how you feel after spending a few minutes together. The detailed explanation of the menu isn't the usual rigmarole of dishes, ingredients, or a list of raw materials... each dish is described to us along with its history, its anecdotes, the recipe, and the way Signora Ada (or simply Ada, as she prefers to be called) cooks it at home. This welcome, so different from any other place I've frequented in all these years, made me fall in love with this place before even tasting a single dish, and my mouth is already, surprisingly, watering.
There are four of us, and we each choose a different starter. The mussel stew (mussels for non-Ligurians), the Cenonno, a series of small plates with hot and cold seafood and mountain appetizers, octopus, and potatoes, while I chose the dish I'd already seen on their website: shrimp tails wrapped in Arnad lard with burrata stracciatella. Simply out of this world, cooked to perfection, with the highest-quality ingredients, it's now firmly in my personal top 10 of the best dishes I've ever eaten!
Ada, please share the "homemade" recipe for this dish—very simple, very quick, but with ingredients that must be top-quality!
We continue this exceptional culinary experience with burrata ravioli with cherry tomatoes, basil, and Cetara anchovies—delicate, perfectly prepared, and cooked al dente, just the way I like them.
We finish with the "Palette of Desserts," all sourced from Campania and Sicily, each one better than the last. I, however, chose the lemon delight all for myself, and I was right to do so, as it was truly too delicious to share.
One thing I'm now convinced of: Nonno Cuoco is definitely my first choice in Cogoleto.

14/10/2025: A very bad experience. We were seated at the very back of the terrace, at a rickety table, under broken decorations that were in danger of falling. The welcome was cold, almost contemptuous, and we can't help but think that this treatment was linked to our appearance. This feeling of exclusion and discrimination is unacceptable, especially in a place that is supposed to welcome everyone. Avoid.
