20/03/2026: A great experience. A casual lunch on a Friday, well before season, and this place is packed with locals. I strongly recommend a reservation, even for lunch. In fact, the place is so popular with locals that there are two seatings: 12.00-13.15 and 13.15-14.30. Of the three people that were working the lunch today, all had good English, so don't be afraid to call and book your reservation. I began with the insalatino di Speck and a glass of the house Friulano, followed by a glass of the house Refosco, and the pasta prepared with Refosco wine, ground sausage and smoked ricotta - both were totally brilliant and served at perfect temperatures. Worth every penny and then some. I will definitely return the next time I pass through Trieste. Highly recommended.

I get home and find a Margherita with broccoli rabe on top. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time they've made a mistake, but I wanted to give it a try anyway, because the pizza is good. I'm sorry, but I think this will be the last time I get pizza.

25/03/2026: We love this place. Like going home for a well cooked supper. Love all the pasta dishes and then we usually share a roasted fresh fish. Perfect meal. It’s also lovely to be served by a pleasant friendly waiter with two sweet dogs - one under the counter and one asleep on the sofa - just like being in someone’s house (who is a very good cook). Go. Enjoy.

13/04/2026: Your customers for over TWENTY years, we live in the center of Trieste among the three historic cafés you manage. At Caffè Tommaseo, a family lunch we cared deeply about was completely RUINED. We are still in disbelief at the RUDENESS, ARROGANCE, and utter INABILITY of the "waitress" (young, short, skinny, dark-haired, and with her hair tied back) and the total disinterest in resolving the unfortunate situation on the part of the "matron" (blonde bob-haired). Among all this DILETTANTISM and INCOMPETENCE, our only exception is the waiter, a kind and always smiling, tall, dark-haired man. Faced with such INADEQUACY, having known us for years, he felt extremely EMBARRASSED by how we were treated, apologizing, even though he was not to blame!

We felt like we were experiencing authentic Trieste cuisine. The service was excellent! The food felt like being invited to a friend's house. Very tasty, but not fancy. The pasta was perfectly cooked and homemade. The wine was superb. We had a wonderful evening and would definitely come back again :))

30/03/2026: This restaurant, just steps from the city center, offers some of Trieste's signature dishes. The service is attentive and friendly, with detailed explanations of the dishes and wines. The price is more than reasonable for the quality of the ingredients and the service. The food is good and tasty.

11/10/2025: Recommended trattoria, with tasty and beautifully presented seafood dishes. Friendly owners. We opted for mussels with chili pepper instead of pepper, and instead of the mussels with pepper, we opted for mussels with impeperoncina (a type of mussels with pepper), followed by fish gratin and sardines in saor (sautéed sardines). The house wine by the glass is good, both still and sparkling. Prices are reasonable. Free street parking is available near the restaurant. Worth a stop for some food and wine.

01/04/2026: I'm in Trieste every two weeks, this is my favorite place! The owner takes your order and suggests the fresh catch of the day. Superior quality ingredients. Tonight, the supersonic spider crab and grilled squid, small and tender, were wonderfully flavorful. I can't wait to go back. There's also a decent selection of local wines. Professional service, smiling and courteous staff. I can't wait to go back.

27/01/2026: Beautiful little restaurant just steps from Piazza Unità. I ​​went with my partner for lunch. The place is well-maintained and warm. We ate homemade tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms, honey mushrooms, and lard—truly excellent. For our second course, we had grilled fish. All accompanied by excellent wine. We'll definitely be back!
